  1. Rather than post separate threads about newer individual series, here's the super thread for tokusatsu TV series past and present, from Super Sentai to Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and more. To begin, here's the current lineup of tokusatsu shows in Japan: Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (手裏剣戦隊ニンニンジャー) is the 39th Super Sentai series, having premiered on February 22, 2015. It is the third series to use a ninja motif (after 1994's Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and 2002's Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger). It looks so much better than Ressha Sentai ToQger, but that's not saying much. The series is scheduled to be replaced by the 40th anniversary Super Sentai series this February. Fuka-chan... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIcpISHtnLk Kamen Rider Ghost (仮面ライダーゴースト) is the 26th Kamen Rider series, having replaced Kamen Rider Drive on October 4, 2015. Attempting to capitalize on the popularity of Yo-Kai Watch, Kamen Rider Ghost uses a ghost and supernatural motif. The suit looks like leftovers from Kamen Rider Wizard and Kamen Rider Kiva. Ultraman X (ウルトラマンX(エックス)) is the 24th in Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra Series, having premiered on July 14, 2015. It is the first tokusatsu series to have a worldwide simulcast, with U.S. viewers accessing it through Crunchyroll.
  2. Hey everyone! Just wanted people who don't frequent the Building/Customizing Macross Models & Toys section of the forums to be aware that slowly but surely - items I've made and produced from Shapeways.com are becoming available to you. This started initially as my own custom pieces meant just for me - but as the items grew in ambition and complexity, I thought it a waste if no one else got the chance to have these in their collection. As mentioned above they came about in 2 of my own threads customizing a Queadluun Rau and a VF-11C; http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=35459 & http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36209 - shapeways pieces and WIP at the end of the threads. Currently I've finished 99% of my DYRL to TV Queadluun Rau conversion pieces - with only a new hip/waist articulation to go and have finished wing-clip attachments for VF-11s to allow attachments of any current 1/60 missiles and the freshly made HMMs. I have also completed a 1/60 Queadluun Rhea Impact Cannon and pieces to attach to a Q.Rau and for a VF-25 to use as a rifle. More items will become available as I get them and inspect them personally for detail fidelity and material properties to ensure the best product possible. They are available here; http://www.shapeways.com/shops/RPG Without giving too much away - expect much more love for the VF-11, VF-0 and Zentran Mecha. I am open to suggestions or requests - but they're subject to my work load. I will update this thread when items become available. I will continue the above custom threads with the build-ups and eventual completions in their respective threads. Peace! EDIT: Trying to add a poll!
  3. I recieved a commission to paint and old takatoku, I gave it my best and I am updating some pics here of the results and process
  4. So, I didn't see any threads regarding these figures, but I know that there used to be one in the past, so I thought I'd reinstate a new one in response to this: http://www.hlj.com/product/ALT20805 Alter's new 1/60 M9 Gernsback. Alter made a previous 1/60 Arbalest, and this time, their taking a shot at the M9. I missed my chance at picking up the arbalest (and its sold out pretty much everywhere now), so getting this is a no brainer for me. Looks REALLY cool, but then again, its about an inch shorter than a 1/60 VF-1 and nearly 2800 yen more expensive, so your mileage may vary. I think its a great piece of work though. What do you guys think?
  5. Thanks to noel for the assist in creating the poll!
  6. Hello everyone, Time for a short review on the Bandai VF-171 Nightmare Plus kit from Bandai. This is a non-scale mini snap kit. I haven't seen many people talking about this thing here, so I'd like to give my impressions on the mini kit. List price at HLJ is 500¥, I got it for 425¥ when I ordered it. The box size is 8.5cm x 15.1cm x 3.8cm. The model, when build, is 8.5cm in lenght and has a wingspan of 7.5cm. The manual is printed into the box, but easily readible. The plastic casting was in a plastic bag as usual. For the size of the kit, the detail is nice and fine. There aren't much parts in this kits, but that is okay. Some of the parts are really small, which I will show in another picture. The decals are precutted self adhering stickers like in the 1/100 scale Macross Frontier model kits. As you can see the sickers are really small, so handling them might be tricky. Sorry for the bad quality pic, but here you can see that the main body is snapping together nicely, leaving no gap. My experience from other Bandai kits (1/100 VF-25, 1/100 VF-2SS, 1/144 VF-17, VF-11 MAXL, VF-11B/C, VF-19 KAI, Gundam RX-78 and Gundam RX-78-2) is, that there will be some gaps here and there which will require glueing or filling paste. There is a relatively large gap infront of the nose. Using glue can fix this easily. Here is one of the extremely small parts, just to give an example. Done - Build time with taking pictures inbetween is ~15 minutes. I didn't attach the stickers yet as I want to airbrush that thing properly. The calculated scale for this small kit is 1/184. Conclusion: A nice little addition to my Macross Mecha collection. There isn't much love for the VF-171 in form of model kits, so this small kit makes me happy that I can have it in my shelf. If needed this kit could be painted in Macross Frontier colors. As far as I know there wasn't much change on the VF-171 design between Frontier and Delta. The kit isn't having much gaps that need filling. For the size the details are good, better than on the old Macross 7 1/144 kits. If you have sausage fingers like me, you will probably have trouble to handle the small parts, but nothing that tweezers couldn't handle. I hope this will help to get an impression on this little gem. If you have any question regarding this kit, please let me know.
  7. Hi everyone. I just wanted to start a proper thread for this. I put up adapters for Gundam stands that can hold up Yamato valks. Here's some images that CoreyD posted on http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=37622'>his thread. Heres' the link for them: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/exodigital'>http://www.shapeways...hops/exodigital And here's the HLJ link to the stands: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Word=gundam+stands&DisplayMode=images&Dis=2&Sort=std&qid=IHYE32P2QUVS4Q&set=1&q=1&MacroType2=displaybse'>http://www.hlj.com/s...ype2=displaybse It's an inexpensive solution for your display needs. Thanks! I've uploaded the adapters that removes the need for the hinge. It makes for a more sturdier stand and can actually hold a 1/48 with Fast Packs. I had to create ones with angles that bank because removing the hinge means less pose-ability There should be enough variety to suit your needs. I've also renamed the product so the number of different ones won't be confusing. B2Y - Bandai to Yamato B2Y classic - the original ones that people have been purchasing that goes on the hinged part of the stand. Allows more pose-ability but won't hold heavier valks B2Y unhinged - comes in three varieties: level, Starboard (banking) and Port (banking) I've also bundled them up in different sorts for price breaks.
  8. Just wanted to see what everyone's preferred Valks are for each of the three modes. I'll start: Fighter: YF-30 Chronos Gerwalk: Super VF-25G Battroid: VF-31C
  9. Cheated on my current project with 1/72 devil over the past holiday. Tired of waiting for Hase to bring it, so I'm working with Bandai's offering. Fixed Fighter. Gluing up the parting lines for the sub-assemblies and then removing the huge gaps is a pain. With some gluing and clamps, most appear to disappear after a few round of straight un-thinned surfacer dabbed on. Most of the work will consist of getting things to fit properly and removing the toy and transformation looking aspects (such as the joints all the fins connect with) for a more model-like appearance. A bit had to see but, I cut the tip off and glued some scrap pla-plate in its place, lengthening the nose and eventually upturning it a bit more like the DX Renewal figure has. I think adding some length should help with the short and stubby look.
  10. Bandai will be releasing 1/48 and 1/72 Star Wars models. I would love to see Star Wars kits with Gunpla MG/RG color separation. They also showed a 1/1700 scale Star Destroyer with lighting effects. Don't know if that will be an actual kit. http://www.actionfigurefury.com/band...toy-show-2014/
  11. I had this VF19 on my shelf for quite some time, just noticed there is some glue on the nose cone, does anyone know how to fix it? I've never thought about my first post is about QC issues......

The screw that hold the hip joint door in place :-)... Could not be right in the middle of the door because of the mechanism behind it...

VF-1A/S, Bandai 1/72, transformable. WIP: no stickers, paint or decals yet... I want to incorporate some possible improvements. The hip joints now hold sufficiently in place, thanks to a small screw on the hip joint door. Simple but does the job, and does not impact transformability or mobility.

Sv-262H, VF-31, VF-1A/S, Bandai 1/72, transformable. Size comparison. All WIP: no stickers, paint or decals yet... I want to incorporate some possible improvements, mostly on the flimsy VF-1. The hip joints now hold sufficiently in place, thanks to a small screw on the hip joint door. Simple but does the job, and does not impact transformability or mobility.

  16. Here's some progress on my 1/100 Armored Factory. I'm working on a Bandai re-issue kit and an old Revell Robotech kit, I'm restoring the one I had as a kid - so x4 gates in total. For the colour scheme I'm mostly following the original Arii box, but with the yellow cranes from the Revell box build. I plan to add lighting and a roof later.

  18. Here's a review of the old 1/144 VF-11C from Bandai.
  19. So, I talked about building it, now I've finished it. Alto's VF-25F Tornado Messiah from "Macross Frontier - The False Songstress". Base kit is the Hasegawa Super Messiah, everything else is from Bandai's (horrible) transforming Tornado kit. And yes, I am planning on bringing this with me to Shizuoka in May.
