What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
renegadeleader1 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Funimation has the rights to Great Guardians, and maybe Xtreme Xecutor. I have no idea what is taking so long to release it as the dub was apparently complete before Media Blasters gave up the rights to Ikki Tousen. Anyways I'm currently watching original Aquarion(yeah um thanks guys), and Girls Bravo. -
G.I. Joe 2: Operation Body Massage

I just saw it... there's cheesy, and then there is just plain stupid and that is what this film is. Its not as bad as the first, but its still bad. Yes ninja scenes were good and very entertaining, but everything else is meh to WTF?!- 264 replies

If you're refering to the hospital ship they lost they lost that status protection when they took the flying Gouf's onboard. The Feddie commander was well within his rights to issue firing orders at that point.- 3998 replies

I've got a historical/production question for anbody that knows a lot about Gunbuster. How much was Studio Fantasia(Project A-ko, AIKa, etc) involved in Gunbuster's production? I see a lot of places refer to it as a co-production, but it seems Gainax gets all the glory for it.

As I mentioned earlier I ordered 3 Queen's Blade revoltech figures and now I have a couple questions. 1.What's the normal retail price for a revoltech figure? I'm guessing $30-40 dollars for normal ones, and $60-70 for variants/exclusives/specials etc. The reason I ask is I purchased Queen's Blade Rebellion's Siggui the Inquisitor from a reputable online store for only $24 with shipping included. The figure is still a recent release, so this has me wondering if there's a defect, or something else wrong with this particular figure that makes people not want it? 2. When did squishy bewbies become a revoltech feature?

Most likely it will see a U.S. release, just not anytime soon because the series isn't finished yet and still has to make its TV run in Japan. I firmly believe Funimation's licensing of Yamato: Ressurection was a stepping stone in order to get exclusive rights to 2199. Unlike Macross there is no two companies fighting over who owns what with Yamato and Starblazers. Voyager entertainment has always been pretty much a shell/subsidiary company for the one that makes Yamato. Recently Voyager was more or less canned.

The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread 2

As sexualized as it was many of the girls didn't screw around and took it seriously, and suffered for it. Little Egypt the one who made that slideshow blew out her knee during a match. At least I think it was her.- 715 replies

90's pornstar Tiffany Million got her start on G.L.O.W as Tiffany Mellons. Former WWF Diva Ivory(as Nina Ferrari) did too. Tiffany got kicked off the show for apparently engaging in lesbian relations with several other GLOW girls. Ivory jumped ship with Dave Mclane to his reboot P.O.W.W and from there the WWF. Mclane rebooted the women's wrestling gimic a few years ago again with W.O.W. Beth Phoenix got her start there as Sandy a member of the Beach Patrol. If I remember correctly the women who were Hollywood, and The Farmer's Daughter co-own the rights to GLOW now, and still do semi-regular promotions, along with releasing select matches on dvd. After watching that promo... yep I would still tap Ninotchika!- 715 replies

My panel at Anime Boston 2013
renegadeleader1 replied to VF5SS's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Yeah that was pretty funny! How about that terrordactyl mecha we all designed together? It was a little interesting to hear a guy who makes his living essentially designing walking tank style mecha say he prefers flashier Z.O.E. super robots. I just wish I didn't have to sit next to the guys obsessed with adding "moar chainsaws!!!". -
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-03-18/godzilla-remake-begins-shooting-with-actor-ken-watanabe Woohoo!!! Its no longer a rumor! The new Godzilla film is finally underway! I wonder if Ken Watanabe will play a Dr. Serizawa type character. I think it would be kinda funny and ironic if he ended up playing a news reporter describing the attack for the Japanese people.

I've been on a bit of a Queen's Blade kick since I picked up Shizuka(thanks Anime52k8), so I went ahead and ordered three revoltech figures. Branwen, Sigui, and booster version Alice complete with pee(oil?) stained panties and puddle... um yeah. Anyways I still want to pick up figures of Echidna and Nyx.

With 2199 the creators are trying to keep a fair amount of realism, and where this concerns the real Yamato wreck they had to make the change. When the wreck was rediscovered a few years ago it was fully surveyed and the ship is not in good condition. as the ship started to sink it capsized causing the main gun turrets to dislodge and fall off as contrary to popular belief the cannons aren't bolted on. Just after submergence the B turret's magazine blew tearing the ship in half and completely obliterating the ship's citadel. All that's left of the ship is the bow ending just aft of Turret A's mount pointing skyward, and the stern ending half way through Turret C's mount upside down in the mud.

The original Gojira is always worth watching as a monster movie classic. I also liked several of Kurosawa's films like Kagemusha, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and Ran. Seven Samurai I thought was okay, and I really want to see Throne of Blood, as I enjoy seeing all the different takes on Macbeth. I do have a curious question though, Is the war film Letters from Iwo Jima considered Japanese despite being direct by Eastwood?

I've been playing the new Tomb Raider game, and I'm not sure how to put this... Its a great game, but I don't like it. I've played every TR game going back to the first one on the PS, and there was that sense of wonder and exploration in each of the games, but there's none of that in here. Its like they went out of their way to make TR for dummies. There's almost no exploration with the maps being very linear going from point A to B with hidden items not so hidden. In the event you get lost there's a button for survival mode that highlights where you need to go, and what items you have to interact with to do it. The original Core Designs games were ball busting punishment difficulty wise pretty much leaving you on your own to figure things out along with wonky controls. The last three Crystal Dynamics games(Legend, Anniversary, Underworld) made it slightly easier and struck a perfect balance with vastly improved controls. I enjoyed them a lot more than I am enjoying this current one. People have told me it plays like uncharted, but I've never played it. My other pet pev is that this is supposed to be Lara's first adventure(as opposed to the other 3 games that already covered that) so she's not used to killing yet. Its a little annoying hearing her scream "Please, I don't want to kill you! We can work together we don't have to kill each other!" All while 20 enemies are chucking molotov cocktails and shooting you.- 6945 replies

Neither side gave much of a damn for protocol or ettiquette in the Pacific Campaign. It was a brutal, ugly, disgusting conflict. It didn't help that Japan while signing the geneva convention on POWs didn't ratify it. When word of prisoner treatment and atrocities got back to the allies it made a bad situation worse. By the end the allies had to issue orders forcing soldiers not to kill anyone surrendering just to get intel, while the Japanese issued orders to systematically kill all pows in their camps. Nearly 30% of western allied pows died in captivity with the Chinese having it much worse. Of the hundreds of thousands Chinese taken prisoner only 56 were repatriated. On the Japanese side of things once a captured soldier surrendered to the allies and was removed from the front their surival rate skyrocketed. POWs were rare though due to indoctrination that suicide is preferable to capture, that allies killed surrendering soldiers on sight, and to surrender would mean you would be an outcast who would not be able to return home. The average Japanese soldier was not made aware of what the Geneva convention was, or that the allies followed it, part of which is the imforming of the enemy of who they have prisoner. The Japanese war office withheld these names from their own people to keep up the pretense that no Japanese soldier surrendered, and fought to the death. Note: I'm aware of the policy here on "political statements", and I took that under consideration while trying to explain the historical context of WII Pacific Campaign's beligerents attitudes towards each other. If I have violated the policy I apologize, and accept full dicipline.

I'm looking forward to the next Tomb Raider game. Reviews have been good so far, and Crystal Dynamics last three TR games (anniversary, legend, and underworld) were very fun. Even the new "realistic" look of Lara doesn't bother me.- 6945 replies

As far as I know, the only one left is variants of the Tupolev TU-95 bear bomber in active service. The B-52 had all theirs removed as part of the H model upgrade plan.
