Fanservice? In a Masamune Shirow manga? I'm absolutely shocked and appalled! Such a thing is inconceivable!- 32 replies

Is Steel Battalion anygood?

I think he's refering to the Xbox360 sequel, and how they tried to use the kinect to replace the giant console. The sensor was so inaccurate and clunky it made the game unplayable. -
Star Wars Rebels - animated series

The Star Wars Droids cartoon blew that out of the water long ago. The basic explaination under the old canon was that the A-wing is the successor to the Spearhead fighter that was in Droids with more advanced engines. -
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in theaters Dec. 16, 2016

I was doing that for Duke Togo's benefit so he could relate. Lets face it if I mentioned anything to do with the novels or expanded universe he would immediately claim they're garbage. -

Basically what most of use hoped for was a Rogue Squadron film aka Top Gun/Iron Eagle in space. What we are getting instead is a story that has basically been done at least 4 different times between the video games, books, and comics. -
You know technically since Anakin/Vader is now a force ghost the line "my father has it" is still accurate.

I think the best most accurate sculpt Scarlett had was for her Silken Floss Nazi babe figure from the Craptastic The Spirit film. If you swap out that head for the Black Widow one and dye the hair red you should be golden.- 398 replies

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII

Hey guys in case anyone was wondering I think my panel on Air Combat In Anime went over rather well this year. I got some great help from Veef who ended up being my co-panelist. I think the best and most hilarious part of it was at the begining when I ended up using a slide featuring a Bristol Blenhiem from the Finnish airforce and trolled the attendees with what airforce did the plane belong to. The responses ended up looking something like this: Germany? No. England? No. Luftwaffe? No. SS? NO! Luftwaffe? No. Again. Sweden? What? No, but close. Luftwaffe? No! No! No! Finland? ding we have a winner. I basically then went into explaining how Finland had the whirlwind(swatstika) on their planes due to the fact that it was the personal symbol of the man who donated the first plane to the fledgling Finnish Airforce during their civil war/independance from Russia. They kept it to honor that man and had been flying it long before Hitler rose to power. I kinda wanted to make the stand and do the "Apoligize to Finland!" thing from Girls Und Panzer. Its also kinda interesting one of the Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo's has the highest kill count of any single airframe in history with 42 kills spread among its three pilots given how crappy the plane was. Then again the plane itself wasn't bad untill you weighed it down with excess equipment and armor. Remove all that stuff(which is what the U.S. when exporting it to Finland) and it can nearly out turn a Zero. -
Bandai to release Star Wars Model kits
renegadeleader1 replied to Wiz13688's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm not so sure about that to be honest given this is Bandai we are talking about and they did release that huge Neo Zeong that was nearly 3 feet long.- 188 replies

Bandai to release Star Wars Model kits
renegadeleader1 replied to Wiz13688's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You know I'm actually confused on this ships size, and not really sure how big it is. When it appeared in Episode III it looks tiny as hell when Obi wan docked with it in Grevious fighter. That fighter wasn't all that big and looked like it was about a third the length of the Tantive. What makes it even worse is that apparently the Tantive that appeared in Episode III might not be the Tantive in Episode IV despite Lucas himself saying it was. There's some screwy story now about it being refit from a CR70 corvette to a CR90.- 188 replies

Bandai to release Star Wars Model kits
renegadeleader1 replied to Wiz13688's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So what do you guys think the feasability of Bandai doing a 1/72 scale Tantive IV is? Yeah she's big, but going by the size of the ship in the films where its seen it really isn't all that big. Maybe enough to not be cost prohibitive.- 188 replies

So lately I've been watching some musice videos from some Kpop girl groups like 4ladies, AOA, and Stellar etc and well I have to ask... Why do all the music videos look like they are shot in the same damn building? Why does each group have that one video that involves one of the girls waking up in a bed with white sheets and white bra & top? Are these groups on the same label or something?

The computer and electronics super geek thread
renegadeleader1 replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey guys quick question. a friend of mine is bringing me some videos for my air combat panel, but he told me they are avi files. I'm not a techno geek and I don't think I've ever used any AVI files on my computer. MP4s and WMVs yes, but not AVI files. My computer is a Dell running windows. Are they going to play okay? -

my second biggest anxiety moment for Anime Boston is over. For my panel on air combat I decided to bring an empty 30mm shell from the A-10's avenger cannon. Given how the convention hall is roughly a block from where those d-bags bombed the Boston Marathon I was afraid of being tackled by security, getting arrested, and missing the con or at worst getting the casing confiscated. Thankfully it passed bag check, passed the cop inspection, passed the bomb sniffing dog, and passed prop inspection. My first biggest anxiety moment. actually pulling this Air Combat panel off without a hitch. -

That list sucked the first time I saw it and its revised version still sucks. Shadows of The Empire has no business being on there give how clunky and frustrating the controls and camera were.

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII

Curious question for those in the know, but how effective are today's stealth and countermeasures against a typical missile today? Is it possible that in the near future something like the laser anti missile system be developed for fighters that render them obsolete? I ask because while working on my air combat in anime panel I started to wonder if advances in technology could render the long range missile shot obsolete and bring about a return to "classical dogfighting" and air combat manuvers. I'm also wondering about drones. I read all this stuff about how they can stay in the air longer, do manuevers a manned plane can't because a human can't handle them, and how they are the wave of the future. I personally am not impressed since I know even with the high technology there is still lag time issues, and the signal encrypted or not can still be interupted. Its not a real big issue when bombing durka durka's driving around in toyota pickup's, but what about a more advanced country closer in technology rolling with modern ECM? The only thing I see as a game changer would be a full A.I. computer pilot system that, but that's decades away. -

I see a bit of a design issue there. Go try and push something with your palm, now picture trying to do it wearing that armor. Not enough room.- 139 replies
