But.. only the top half! I remember lots of folks saying it looked like a Nike basketball shoe. I still wish we'd gotten the original green canopy, but that scheme was always just.. well, I want to call it typical Bandai. I still do not have any idea why they feel the need to put those dumb gill markings on the wing gloves.

I'm actually wondering if they designed the 31Ax to be able to use the existing Arad armor. Even with the new tail and wing hinge arrangement, it looks like those booster packs are the same as the old ones, and mounted at the same angle as the regular 31s.

I'd be alright with English singing... if they actually managed to pull professional songwriters, musicians, and vocalists in to produce something actually equivalent in quality. I've heard some amazing fan translations of the songs that do a decent job of retaining the original meaning, while still sounding like natural spoken English. If they can manage that, I probably wouldn't complain, but otherwise I would rather hear the original songs. I've listened to them so many times, I'm already at the point where I know the meaning of the lyrics in Japanese, so it's really all a wash for me anyhow.

I don't believe so, since it's also inherently part of Macross Plus, but I really don't know where the lines of that particular copyright battleground are drawn. They did advertise the YF-19 as a potential international release, and Macross Plus is getting a limited theater run in the US, so who knows at this point.

I remember that discussion, and think it was buried in one of the VF-0 topics, where someone asked if it was in 1/48, since it was the same size as a 1/48 VF-1, before it was clarified that the VF-0 is just a much bigger aircraft.

They may have once been labeled that scale, but they have never been that scale. I can't find it now, but I believe one of the reviews placed them somewhere closer to 1/85 or so? In terms of raw length dimensions, the Yamarcadia 1/60 is 9.5 inches long, while the HMR is 6.25 inches.. which puts it about 1/91, assuming the 1/60 is accurate.

Considering how terribly cheap their clear plastic inserts tend to look, I can't say I wouldn't prefer them all painted on.

That definitely is one of the best anniversary schemes they've done on any valk. Also is it just me, or did they give this one a matte finish as well now?

Right now, I'm just crossing all of my fingers and toes that Bandai releases an armored Kairos to capitalize on that production art we saw, especially if they actually offer a different number. I'll buy another two easily if I can get ahold of them.

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Chronocidal replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I went and put in a pre-order for this one too. I was very impressed by how solid and smooth-rolling Nicee was, and I like this car design with the closed cockpit and spoiler even better.- 9275 replies

Macross Plus Movie Edition - US THEATERS
Chronocidal replied to VF-1A Cannon Fodder's topic in Movies and TV Series
I mean, it'd be awesome if a dub of the movie existed. Sadly, that's the price you pay for the alternate ending. -
Macross Plus Movie Edition - US THEATERS
Chronocidal replied to VF-1A Cannon Fodder's topic in Movies and TV Series
Locations are listed for this now folks, I don't know what sort of demand there will be, but I'm kind of hoping for a massive sell-out of tickets, just to send a message that there's demand. Don't know if I'll be able to do it yet myself, just due to travel times to get where I'd want to see it.. who thought it was a good idea to release this late on a tuesday? -
Yeah, there's nothing even secret about this, the PF YF-19 was supposed to be out weeks ago and got delayed. Would be happy to see production picking up, but would be even happier to see them revisiting the entire Plus line, PF or not.

Yeah, I think right now is probably the worst possible time to try and sell a repop of the VF-1D at 1/60. Unless they're hoping on catching the eye of people who missed the DX release? But since that was a webshop order, there (theoretically) shouldn't be anyone who missed that release. Right at this particular moment? I'd love to see a TV SDF-1, but I think my primary hopes would be for either a PF VT-1, or a PF YF-21 and VF-11B release to go with their PF YF-19. Think about it.. Macross Plus getting a US theatrical release? Just imagine if they could actually sell them here to capitalize on the sudden opening of the floodgates!

I feel like it's not quite so cryptic if you translate it, but I can't imagine he's actually hinting at what comes to mind.

Macross Proplica for Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee’s microphones
Chronocidal replied to UN Spacy's topic in Toys
I feel like Bandai really missed a trick here by not selling this mic. The grip sort of looks like the same style, now that I look at it closely, but I actually don't remember what concert scene the ad image is from. -
That's the confusing part, they all seem to be running on the UK site, but the moment I switch the region, everything disappears. The shipping notes say something about only being able to deliver to the UK, so it might be something to do with a regional overstock.

They're in stock, but I'm seeing no sales discounts at all on any item. Don't know what's up.

Not bad looking, but a dropship with no deployable wings is pretty disappointing. I know Eaglemoss doesn't really do moving parts, but I feel like that's one case where they really should have gone the extra mile. Edit: Wow, Eaglemoss seems to have seriously borked up their supplies or regional sites, or something.. none of those sales seem to apply to the US? Was actually going to pick up the Mark VII Viper and an XL Runabout at half price, but NOPE...

I think it's always been pretty obvious that the VF-1's standard markings (specifically the stripe on the nose) were inspired by the VF-1 Wolfpack markings on the F-14. But as white as that looks, I don't believe that's actually white. That looks like a slightly later set of VF-1 markings, so the F-14 looks like it should be an overall light gull gray. In terms of the animation, it just makes more sense to paint the main characters' planes all white. Notice, Roy, Hikaru, Max, and Kakizaki all received some variation on a white paint scheme, while the rest of the fleet seemed to just be all brownie VF-1s. I'm not sure what military grouping "Vermillion Squad" was based on, but the whole squadron should have probably had very similar markings instead. I think they just painted them bright so you could see them on screen better.

I've got all the VF-19s and VF-17s I want (unless they do a VF-17D that is), but I would really love to see them reissue the VF-11s. And maybe a YF-21.. just because.
-
Yeah, there are certain favorites that I've collected multiples of that I have no intention of selling off. My VF-19s are staying. (Though, I might part with an Arcadia YF-19 once I get the PF version.) But with all the new 1/48 VF-1s? I don't feel the need to keep so many of my old Yamatos. I bought up some of the early Arcadia re-releases with the stands, but I really don't have a reason to keep those around now. I'll probably boil my Yamato VF-1 collection down to the essentials, and sell off a few duplicates I've been holding onto, like the extra M&M Arcadia set I got, which I have no reason to keep after getting the PF versions. Even beyond that, I've got a few duplicates of the Bandai DX VF-1s that were bought as backups during all of the pre-order shenaniganry, and I could probably send them to a good home, and the multiple re-releases of the Hayate VF-31 means I could probably part with one of those easily. Not to mention the pile of extra HMR releases I grabbed for.. some reason I can't even grasp now.

Heh.. funny you should mention the space conundrum. I'm currently trying to organize my second bedroom to function as a "hobby" room, which means all (ok, most) of the lego, model kit, and Macross stuff is planned to go in there, along with a small desk and my 3D printer.. but holy cow I have so many boxes, I really should start prioritizing which things I don't absolutely need to keep.

One thing to definitely keep in mind about all of these releases is that I think all of the Delta valks have been available at release day, at some vendors. I can't say that for certain, but I remember regretting several of the pre-order nights when the release date rolled around, and people reported they were available at MSRP. You just have to be quick about that, because while the sites might not be hammered like a pre-order night, they might not keep in stock for very long.

Ah, if you didn't get an option to pay for the item, it might not have gone through. I actually didn't receive any email about my order either, I just scrambled to the account page to pay for it quickly, and it seems to have worked. Their site is setup a little strangely with how it handles emails about orders, the only notification I got from that order was from Paypal.
