  1. I'm thinking the YF-19 re-release is getting lower attention just due to Bandai stripping out all of the extras it originally came with.
  2. Check HLJ again, they went back up for a moment, and got one! Assuming both go through, that's two for me, and I'm out. Might get a third if they pop up later on Amazon, but I'm good for the night. Good luck all!
  3. Maybe, but finding anything on their site during a pre-order is almost impossible. Their search doesn't work, and they sell out in seconds to people with inside info on the product pages.
  4. I do like the fact that they made it possible, but I rarely perform that particular step. Unless I really really want to pose Basara sitting halfway out of the battroid hatch, it's easier to just leave canopy closed.
  5. Yeah, it's really sad, I would buy the crap out of any 262Ba releases.. but Bandai just cannot be arsed to care about all of the potential shelfwarmers they've focused their new series on.
  6. I think they may have darkened the overall plastic, without darkening the paint on the shoulder blocks. They are standing out rather starkly on almost every photo I see.
  7. Little ridiculous.. but I might even grab one with their coupon, just to have one in the hole. Been planning on getting one of these for my brother, and I want to get a pair myself.
  8. Good to see them working! I definitely oversized the tabs, since I figured it would be easier to sand them down than build them up.
  9. I'm laughing right now because this reissue (with the sound booster) actually cost me less than the original release.
  10. Don't know if anyone has need of these, but had forgotten this topic exists when I went to make them. Still a rough test, and I think at least two people are trying prints, but my first test print seemed to fit well enough.
  11. I would definitely say so. I mounted mine on there and that stupid clear plastic mount formed a stress fracture in a matter of minutes. I'll see if I can find the photo. Here it is:
  12. I've actually been surprised that no one has ever included that extra rear canopy cover. It would be pretty easy to make a 3D print of though, just a solid plastic printed copy of the existing canopy, with the paneling detail, and a fixed tab to slot into where the hinge mounts.
  13. I don't have one handy to take a look at, but I believe the entire arm assembly is a sandwich of panels that are not intended to ever come apart. It looked like the sleeve that slides on the arm was glued together around the arm, leading to the inevitable mess when the glue seeped between the layers, and locked the sleeve in place. Who knows if it could ever be safely disassembled. I think one of mine was stuck so badly that I had to resort to bludgeoning the thing with a rubber mallet before it slid properly. I think I used a pink eraser as a chisel. It's not even that the thing ever really took that much force, there is just nowhere to actually grip it. The only part easy to grab would be the folding elbow armor, and there was no way I was going to exert any type of force on that fragile-looking linkage.
  14. Yeah, a fix to the plastic won't cut it. They need to send the thing back to the drawing board and re-engineer it from the ground up not to suck.
  15. Yeah, that's irritating. I'd really rather it looked like that.
  16. If they're referring to the red shoulder pivots, nah, those have always stuck out. Whatever paint Yamato chose for those metal parts never blended well with the rest of the valk in almost every environment I've had it in. Definitely not feeling the gold canopy though. Hope it's just a coating that can be stripped... or maybe I'll just swap that canopy to an older copy.
  17. Took some time tonight and tried throwing the file into my ABS printer, and actually had some really good results once I got the orientation right. Had to stretch the part a little to fill the intake, and took a couple of tries, but I think I've got something close enough to pass muster once printed in the right color, or painted. For some reason the upper corner melted a little on this one, or it would fit better. It doesn't exactly fit tightly, but it also doesn't come loose when I shake the valk, so depending on the fit, you might need to bulk up the tab with some glue or scotch tape. I made it a little oversized to try and fit more tightly, but who knows how it will come out of a resin printer. I was just pleased I got a functional shape on mine, I had the layer height and speed cranked down to their highest quality, and the part looks incredibly smooth for an FDM printer, mostly from how I tilted the part to minimize the layers. Anyhow, here's a new set with this final version, paired up for printing. I can't offer any advice for how to orient it for a resin printer, but it will probably come out fine with both parts hanging vertically from the build plate. VF11CoverSet.zip Good luck!
  18. I actually only included one, since I figured it would be a waste to make both before I know if they fit. Easy to make a version with a matching pair though. On second thought though, I might be able to configure my printer to make a set and test, if I orient the parts correctly. I might need to make a half dozen to give time for the plastic to cool, but it might work. Anyhow, new copy is attached with a matched set. Edit: Removing this one, it was quite a bit undersized. New post below.
  19. Oh would you look at that, they can make feet that don't suck. Seriously, they need to go back and redo the YF-19 to this standard. This looks better in all three modes. Also.. dunno how we got here, but we have two identical topics about this kit running side by side. Probably worth merging them, or something.
  20. So I'm not sure if this will actually work, but I got a rough estimate modeled. Unfortunately, this piece is just all over the place to try and measure. There really are no flat surfaces along any axis to align the part with, and trying to measure the overall dimensions was a pretty sketchy process. It's really just a best guess. It may or may not require some sizing up or down to fit, and it some of the corners may need rounding off. If anyone has a VF-11, a resin printer, and a little spare time to test, I'd greatly appreciate the help! I think the part is probably about 95% there, but it needs a test printing and fitting. 21. Fair, and thanks for the raw number breakdown. I wasn't really accounting for inflation, just the raw impression that the cost of the new set at some international retailers was more than the original release. It varies pretty wildly between vendors, and local taxes definitely have an impact. Far as the tampo is concerned though, I really don't mind the vast majority of it. Sure, Bandai is infamous for inventing nonsense markings to inflate the amount, but unless you actually get a magnifying glass, you're not going to know it. The problem I have isn't the amount so much that they chose to put ugly markings on it, and it's really limited to the giant billboard-style wing marking on the right wing. It's gaudy, asymmetrical, and just a fundamental aesthetic mismatch with the rest of the markings. The wings don't even match with each other, let alone the existing black stripes on the wings, and the stupid cockeyed half-overlap on the right wing just makes me do this kind of thing: It would have been mostly fine if they had made it line up with the black like the other wing, or just use he same font, but it's like they purposefully made those wing markings as dissimilar as possible.
  22. Had not had time to yet, work got crazy last week, and might be a rush up to the holidays. Will dig out the part and leave it on my desk to remind me to start measuring though.
  23. (insert incoherent screaming about stupidly ineffective locking mechanisms here)
  24. And of course that stupid wing hinge comes back to bite the thing in the ass every time. Thing desperately needs a ratcheting mechanism.
