IMO, it would be safe to posit that at the very least, English and Japanese (and possibly Chinese) were in use in the SDF-1 based on two things: what we've seen in the series (english and japanese) as well as what languages survived into the mid 21st century (as it's highly probable that those languages survived due to being in use in Macross City).

Actually, I think that's because the artist got the proportions wrong - the whole front nose area is way too big compared to the rest of the plane. Still, he seems to have gotten the whole transformation down right.

Indeed the v-type infection allowed both Sheryl and Ranka to gain a link to the Vajra swarm (as evidenced by the pain they felt when th Vajra blocked the queens shot to save Island 1, heck I think even Alto felt it somewhat). Again, I believe we have to differentiate between "official language" (that used by the government and the courts) and the common tongue (lingua franca that which is more commonly used by the people on the street). The case where one does not equal the other already happens IRL today (diglossia). It's not hard to imagine that in Macross, where one of the things they're out to accomplish is to preserve human culture, that it occurs as well and is probably even the norm (and possibly even encouraged).

As much as I like all the songs, it's Diamond Crevasse that really stand out from the rest, at least for me.

Most of the differences between Battle Frontier and Battle Galaxy seem to be in the upper body, with Battle Galaxy having a different head, forward flight deck(arms), shoulders and those fins at the back. In any case, both look way more menacing than Battle 7 - what with it's blue on white colour scheme (Max's colours?) and big red M on it's torso (makes it look like an old school super robot). Off course, the fact that individually, both have more guns than Battle 7 does help.

Besides, without input from character designer Risa Ebata, we wouldn't have Sheryl Nome as we know her today, seeing as (if I recall correctly from the interview) it was her prodding which eventually convinced Kawamori to push through and further develop Sheryl's character.
