  1. Why, the long nose is a distinctive feature of the VF-25 and VF-27. Although if you think about it, the VF-11 had something similar in that it had a long neck that actually had to fold in half to shorten it for battroid mode.
  2. It seems, at least for volume 3 which should be out by tomorrow (Oct. 24), they've also redrawn some scenes.
  3. Unfortunately, due to the legal issues surrounding Macross, subtitled official releases are rare. In the case of Frontier, the official releases don't have subs. If you want to watch the series but don't want to download over bittorrent or via macrosshare, the bootlegs should suffice (granted I haven't tried them).
  4. Interesting idea. Maybe the reason we see the new fold gates instead of the bubbles was so that incidents like the SDF-1 taking South Ataria with it would be avoided in the future.
  5. Actually, I raised this point some time back and someone (I think it was Mr. March) pointed out that the depiction of folds in previous Macross's was pretty inconsistent, we have the fold bubble situation in some cases (Dynamite 7, SDFM when the SDF-1 folded out with the island), while other times we have the ships simply appearing and dissappearing and then we have cases where the craft boosts forward in a bright spectacle of light - similar to Frontier.
  6. Volume 1 (episode 1 TV, Deculture and Yack! Deculture editions), volume 2 (episodes 2-4) are out and volume 3 (epiodes 5-7) should be coming out soon, however these are available in Japan only. There are however a few bootleg DVDs with as many as 12 episodes per disc. However, these are the TV broadcast versions and don't contain the animation fixes and probably don't have the Yack! Deculture edition of episosde 1 as well.
  7. Anyone else other than me hoping for the Maaya Sakamoto version of Aimo (from episode 14)?
  8. Meltran + Speaker Pod Gamma + fun penetration... I loled.
  9. I just found them while taking a peek at the Animesuki Macross board.
  10. Zoidberg is a Vajra-Human hybrid gone wrong.
  11. Probably not as at least from what's posted at mike_s_6's site, the set has two catalog numbers which indicate 2 CDs. A CD+DVD reelase would have only one catalog number.
  12. The Mac7 one looks to be a slightly misdrawn Uraga.
  13. Well it depends on your understanding of the term "official language." If it means official in that it's the standard used by government, etc. then it does have to have an official language (which from what we've seen is English). However, I believe this topic is referring to the lingua franc, the language used by the people on the street. which, from an interview poster earlier, it seems to be a mix of Japanese, English and Chinese.
  14. The windows probably have armored shutters and/or a pin-point barrier to protect it. Also, I we already do have transparent (or at the very least, translucent), aluminum based compounds (ALON and transparent alumina).
  15. Well, the head unit should add a good 2 or so meters to the height, the wings should add a bit more. The question is if what should be considered in comparing battroid height. On a different note, that illustration is a pretty good example of how different the SV-51's transformation is from any other VF.
  16. Incidentally, his Battroids pose when he fires his gunpod is similar to the stock "VF-17 firing gunpod" shot from Macross 7. Also, in episode 14, Leon scolds Pres. Glass for smoking a cigar, similar to how Shammy always used to scold Cpt. Gloval (and the other dude) about smoking on the bridge. The only difference, Howard at least actually got to smoke his cigar before Leon caught him.
  17. Wow, even when the series is over, there's still enough news to get another news thread filled up!
  18. The protoculture chose the location of the Mayan due to it's isolation, hoping that the priestesses wouldn't be influenced by the outside world and hence being ideal judges of humanity. The use of song as an interface was probably copied from the Vajra using song to communicate with other groups. The rocks in the ruins are possibly imbued with properties designed to make them resonate and respond to the singing and the AFOS then raises these rocks with whatever anti-grav system it has. Seeing as the Nome's were in possession of fold quarts, it's highly probable that fold quartz, and more importantly, fold communication was involved in the AFOS, interfacing with the priestesses. Whatever the explanation, it's clear the Kawamori has imbued the protoculture with a an air of mysticism, off course, there's Arthur C. Clarke's 3rd law to consider ("Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic").
  19. Hmm, the real reason Alto didn't make a choice (or more precisely, chose both)?
  20. In light of the above arguments stating that English is the official language, while Japanese or Engrish is the more commonly spoken one, we can probably say that language in the Macross universe is probably like how it is in certain countries where the official language isn't what the people on the street are using. Just like where I live (the Philippines) where English is the official language, Filipino/Tagalog is the language most people are born into, and the lingua-franca is an amalgamation of the two (Taglish), in Macross, we may have a situation now where Engrish (or more properly Japalish, since Japanese is seemingly more dominant) is the lingua-franca of most people.
  21. Depends, if it's to Frontier what DYRL was to SDFM, then it's bound to be something worth watching.
  22. Well, during SW1, they needed pilots ASAP so they basically allowed anyone who wanted to be one to be trained. As the years went on, space combat meant that pilots and valks were almost as common as infantry, which meant that the practice of having younger pilots continued.
  23. Meh, I find it annoying that that limp wristed, two-faced, sis-con bastard Lulu and his pizza loving accomplice C.C. are on top.
