I know about the resin kit that Yamato based their monster off of, but even beyond the structural differences aside, the care that went into the markings of Bandai's is above and beyond what Yamato even attempted. I know that Bandai's is based off the Macross F version, and has more markings, but the little things like the rings around the thrusters, the panel lines on the cannons, etc. Bandai's version makes Yamato look like they didn't even try.
  2. Holy crap, those pictures are awesome. How they managed to make Yamato's monster look like a breadbox I'll never know, because the detail and range of poses this thing can pull off are flat out amazing compared to Yamato's offering. I have a Yamato monster, and I was proud of it, until I saw these pictures. Now its kinda "meh" when it used to be "whoa".
  3. I've been on the edge to go see this, but now that I know its not a horror / species rip off, I'll make the trip and watch it with some friends.
  4. Holy Bejebus that thing is huge, but at a $400.00 price tag, I'll pass. Maybe if we could get a plastic kit mass produced or something. Maybe 1/72 scale
  5. I heard the Mr. T refused a cameo role because he didn't care for the violence and sex in the new movie. Something about how people never died in his TV show, it was made for the family.
  6. See, when I see hand cranked Gatling guns mounted on a horse, I think "Awesome". I also thought "Awesome" when I saw the Dynamite Crossbow. I'm expecting that to show up in one of my D&D games now. Its a summer movie. A popcorn flick. It was meant to be fun and entertaining, not make you question the way you live or give you an epiphany of some sort.
  7. Love this show, every episode makes me laugh. The social commentary is nearly spot on, at least here in New Orleans anyway. The MLK episode was my favorite, with the Obama episode comming in 2nd.

  9. The Revoltechs are at least very inexpensive. $20-$30 each is a drop in the bucket compared to a Yamato purchase. I regret paying $120 for my 1/72 YF-19, but I sold it a year later for $100. The 1/72 YF-21 however, I held on to until the plastic actually degraded to the point where parts were falling off of it while it was on the shelf. I guess 6 years is the life expectancy of a Yamato. Had a VF-11b for about 3 months before the legs just fell right off. Bought 2 1/60 VF-1s, a Toys R Us Cannon fodder for $30 and a Skull Leader for $60, and I enjoy them both, no regrets. Beside the head being a bit small, I have no issues with them. After hurricane Katrina, I bought a 1/48 Skull Leader w/ Fast packs. Love it. Hands are a bit floppy, but its HUGE. Also bought a VB-6 Monster and 1/60 VF-0. The Monster is alright, I'm mainly in love with the design. The VF-0 has the usual shoulder problem, but looks amazing in fighter mode. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my Macross mecha purchases (except the VF-11). It may just be because I don't buy very many of them.

Same here, I have the Yamato version, and although I think its pretty sweet, it's really not suited for any type of play, even a few transformations broke the rear pegs so that I had to load up the rear end with AA batteries to act as a counterweight. Can't wait for some customer reviews on this thing, it is looking really nice.

  14. Being that the board game was made by Privateer Press, I would imagine that its a very well thought out game that has very few rules with lots of variables. I've played their table top games Warmachine and Hordes, and love them both. Also played Infernal Contraption, a non-collectible card game that is thoroughly addictive. I am pretty sure that the Voltron game is a take off the Monsterpocolypse table top game of theirs, which I have not played yet. www.Privateerpress.com I love their work
  15. I was looking forward to an "epic" story, but honestly, the only difference is that there is no single antagonist. All the other games had someone who you knew you had to defeat, or else the world would be destroyed. 13 is more of these few people fighting against their destiny, instead of a bad guy.
  16. very interesting, I've actually been avoiding reading stuff about the game to try things out for myself, but that is a great tip, especially since some characters have different spells than others. Although Imperil has been my do-all debuff for quite a while.
  17. In chapter 9 right now, spent a bit of time zoning back and forth grinding enemies. Incentive chips galore. Just beat the fal'Cie there, I love the battle system. Less time micro-managing the fight and you just kinda direct the flow of it. I use Sazh for Haste and Van for her huge debuff (forgot the name, but it is a super mega debuff), with Light in the commando role. I like Fang, but she is no replacement for Light imo. As soon as I get some time to grind missions on Pulse I think that I'll be able to upgrade a few weapons to stage 2. I haven't bothered upgrading accessories yet, they take way too much exp. I also noticed that weapons with bonuses other than just stats are exp point eaters, and their base stats kinda suck.
  18. That state of the game post is pretty inspiring, and I hope those issues are worked out, because that might just make the game a keeper for me. I canceled my account until the game matures a bit more. I really love the basic setup, and the space combat rocks my world. My biggest issue is ground combat, which basically takes the Halo model, and makes it clumsy and not fun. Other than that, I really enjoyed leveling up to Rear Admiral. It was fun, had some great lore moments, and never seemed like a grind at all. Keeping players around at the endgame is where most games spend 80% of their development cycle, and Cryptic needs to spend a bit more time here. I really want to come back, but there has to be more waiting for me. I don't feel like I wasted $50, because I truly had a great experience for the month I played.
  19. Hope some endgame happens soon, because I'm on the edge of canceling my sub. Just not enough to keep me interested right now. Between limited skill points and the fact that you can't spec into both your ship type and weapon type at endgame really puts a damper on it for me.
  20. I really enjoyed Gunbuster 2, more so than the first series. Don't get me wrong, the first series was good, but God it felt like forever before the story picked up speed. Only so many scenes of robots doing jumping jacks until I go nuts. Gunbuster 2 was so over the top that I loved it. The mechs had their own personality and super powers, and each episode was action packed.
  21. My fleet Escort, the USS Archangel I love this boat, her damage is through the roof. My issue is that I didn't have enough skill points to spec into antiproton weapons to make the endgame items worth getting
  22. Almost all of the Escort class ships have a non-standard hull / nacelle / saucer configuration, and I like almost all of them, except for the Gallent class. The Zephyr (Steamrunner) class was butchered, they moved the Deflector dish to under the saucer, and the dangly bit between the nacelles is now completely pointless. Also, the Bussard collectors are no longer integrated into the saucer, they hover right above it. I understand why it was done, the modular aspect of the ship customization demands it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
