  1. I was thinking more like... KNEEL BEFORE ZO... I mean HIKARU. A free internet cookie to anyone that gets that reference. Although there are less young ignorant members here than other boards I frequent.
  2. Well, this topic sure has launched off. I think I've said everything I need to say though. I don't care to debate things regardless of what I or others believe. If it matters to anyone's interest by the way, I bought my copy of Macross Plus the movie, only ever seen the OVA as the English dub on TV, and only seen SDFM either as Robotech or online through low quality streaming (not downloaded though) - same for M7 and it's appendages. So I probably have only downloaded about 40% of the Macross stuff that exists. Not that that makes it anymore legit or anything, just saying, I'm not totally bad.
  3. You know I didn't even know this topic had a connection to me at all before this post? I just decided to look at it because I was curious to what it was referring. I would be the first person to say that it is worth paying money to support a music artist or an industry you'd like. Of course you would then ask why I was wanting to know if there was a torrent for that concert since the price was high for me to buy it? Well to tell you the truth, I am not above hypocrisy. I don't think I was being a hypocrite though. I only asked that because I had never seen Fukuyama-san perform anything on stage save for some bad quality youtube videos. I just wanted to see it since I've become such a big fan. I'm not saying me wanting to see it makes downloading a torrent right versus actually buying it though. I guess I don't have a definite idea of where I stand. I do know that I am full willing to buy an import Fukuyama-san's CD albums to hear more form here, and I plan to... when I can afford it anyway. As for Macross itself. I do have the entire Macross Frontier with Thora subs downloaded. I have DYRL as well, and Zero. Do I have an excuse beyond couldn't afford to buy them? Not so much, other than buying them wouldn't give me subs, and I'm not technically inclined enough to figure out how to add subs to a DVD (I don't even have Blu-Ray capability, still haven't fully gotten into HD age yet). Does that make it perfectly fine to get the shows the way I did, without paying? Not really. I guess you could say I am not much of a perfect man, but I never considered myself much of one anyway. It is really about whether I can live with it enough for myself I suppose. I'll let others make their judgments about me as they see fit. Is there a point I'd draw the line like the original poster first poised? Well I did say I plan to buy Yoshiki Fukuyama's albums, but that was more beside the point. I don't plan to download any of the other concerts, but that isn't really on moral grounds, I just felt it unnecessary after the one I did. As for Macross, I truthfully don't see how I'd see it otherwise, especially when I don't know if I'll like every series or every episode before I bought it on DVD. So I guess I draw a line between not knowing if it is worth me buying it and it being worthy enough for me to spend my time downloading in torrents just to be able to see it. It may sounds morally ambiguous, but I at least I know where I stand.
  4. OT: No, but I consider myself apart of the 47 society these days (I don't think they have an actual membership). Star Trek plays up that number a lot too. You can split the sub, audio, and video files with MKVextractgui or something similar and then edit the sub files with Aegisub to delete all the song lyric subs. The karaoke subs for the opening and ending are hard subbed so those won't go away, but most of the song lyric subtitles during the episode can be deleted. After that you probably will need a program that can mux the files back together into an .mkv container. If you just split the sub files out of the episode it only makes a copy and the original episode will still have the unedited sub files inside it. Like I said earlier though the crazy lyric animations don't play in WMP if you can stand that player so it will work there without needed to get rid of anything, which is easier. I'd like to get rid of whatever causes the animations, then I could play it in MPC without lag. However I am not quite sure how that stuff works. I imagine Aegisub can edit subtitle font sizes, but I've never tried it.
  5. Well.. I do go to an engineering school. However you may have a point there.
  6. I certainly wouldn't have any trouble finding one then, lol. I have to actually get a 1/60 v2 valk first though...
  7. I'll have to keep that in mind. I was so used to using the K-Lite Codec pack because it had everything I thought I needed (including MPC). However I am fine with using WMP for Frontier due to this problem. I just got so used to MPC because it works easier with matroskas usually. EDIT: First post on Page 47, woot! That doesn't really mean anything but I like the number 47, lol. It is the quintessential random number! This page isn't really random though.
  8. Honkhet, not that I would bother since I don't think the Yamatos really need panel lining (although it would look cool), is there a reason why Gundam Markers are bad for the 1/60 v2s? I suspect different plastics from the 1/48. I am just curious.
  9. Ooh... in running my test I realized something. The episodes only lag during the songs on Media Player Classic. They plan just fine on Windows Media Player though. I've found out why too, when they play on Media Player Classic the Japanese Karaoke subs are animated (they darken in color each syllable as the person sings the line) but in Windows Media Player the animation doesn't happen, it just displays the subtitles. So I was wrong, it isn't the song subtitles causing the problems, it is the animation in the song subtitles! So for some reason WMP doesn't show those animations so the episode plays just fine there. I wonder if there is a way to turn off those animations... That is a little more advanced for me than just deleting subs... At least they play fine in one player, I don't have to do anything then.
  10. I ran a test with the K-Lite Codec pack to verify this. My test just consisted of my turning the subtitles on and off during play. I found that all the subtitles for the songs, English and Japanese karaoke turned off only if the song was during the episode, like a character singing. I found however you are correct with the OP and ED subs. When I turned all subtitles off I still see the Japanese karaoke subs during the opening and ending songs but the English ones are gone. This means they hard subbed the karaoke lyrics to the opening and ending but any other song lyric subtitles are soft subbed. This means I can use Aegisub to edit and delete any song subtitles so the episode doesn't lag during songs. Another part of my test proved is it that causing the problem because when no subtitles were on screen during parts that always lagged with song subs, the video ran smoothly. I hope that getting rid of the song subs will be enough since the video never lags when normal speech subs are displaying and there is no song. I'll find out by testing the edit on a copy of one of the episodes, therefor if I mess up, I can start over and if it works I can do it to the main files. nhyone: Thanks for the tip, the above test I ran was based on your suggestion of course. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Aegisub seems able to edit the sub files in the episode without separating them from the video file itself, so I'll proceed without doing so unless I find out I cannot save the edits without separating the sub files. EDIT: Looks like I will have to separate the files in order to edit them properly, no problem, I'll look up one of the programs mentioned earlier. Looks like my editing will work though.
  11. So is the weathered 1S max really limited then? I imagine it is quite more expensive than the normal one if so. I just want to get a 1S max. Then I'll have that representing DYRL Max, and my 1/48 VF-1J representing TV max. It may not be all the Max birds but I'm poor and not a completionist so it is fine by me. I see it as having all his final mechs... not counting the Q-Rau... or the VF-22...
  12. Tell me about it, lol. It would be like flying an ultra light based on the description of that fighter.
  13. Wow he actually fit into that tiny Eta-2... Goes to show how small those things are compared to modern jets and valks. The Vipers from Battlestar are also really small I believe.
  14. I suspected, thanks for the info. I also found out more about that Fire Bomber song, seems to be in a new album. I be that is old news for the people who watch news in threads like this though... like I said, I've been out of the loop.
  15. I love those pics Honkhet. I never did get that VF-25G model like I planned too. My economic situation took a downturn. I also want that 1/60 v2 VF-1S Max. I do have that Optimus Prime figure though! lol.
  16. Is Macross Ultimate Frontier a new game or an update to Ace Frontier? I've been out of the loop for a while. I am very curious about this new Fire Bomber song as well... I am a rather big Yoshiki Fukuyama fan now, I assume he still sings new stuff as Basara. I shall go looking!
  17. I've read through the past couple pages seeing my problem was addressed at all earlier. I've seen a lot of conflicting comments though, so I need to know: Are the song lyric subtitles hardsubbed into all the Thora episodes and therefor impossible to remove or can it be done? Because this is all I want to do since both song and speech subtitles happening and the same time lags up the video for me. I have no problem with Thora's subs otherwise and although I've seen various grammatical errors here and there it doesn't bother me enough to want something else, it is just that I don't need the song lyrics anymore. They were nice when watching the show first time through, not anymore. Also keep in mind I am not an expert about subs and how all this works so I might not understand all the jargon.
  18. Hey there, I have a question regarding Macross Frontier with THORA subs. I posed it in another thread so I'll just repeat it here in quote form as I don't want to search this thread to see if it has been covered in detail. Thanks for any help anyone can provide me.
  19. Indeed I shall then. Thanks.
  20. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask it, but I can always be advised otherwise I suppose. Is there a way to edit sub files in such a way to make some subs not appear but keep others there? Example time to explain: I recently downloaded the entire Macross Frontier series via THORA subs (the ones that use the BD rips so they look extra nice). However I am having some problems with playback of some episodes, in which certain parts start lagging a bit. I have determined through several viewings this seems to be a result of there being too much going on on the screen during scenes with songs in them and constant dialogue or action happening at the same time. This is most likely a problem stemming originally from my computer having a lackluster graphics card. Since that can't be helped I was wondering if there is a way to edit the sub files for these episodes so I could not have the song lyric subtitles show and just the normal speech subtitles remain. I know the songs and have seen the whole show before with them so I wouldn't be missing much there. I have used the program Aegisub before which was useful in editing GG's sub files to match Raw Frontier episodes before I got this new batch but Thora does something different to what I've seen before. I'm not sure if the subs here are combined with the episodes (which of course would mean I can't do much at this point) or if there is a separate file for them. The thing is there are two extra files with all the episodes, one of which is a .md5 file and is something I have never seen before. Basically I am calling on any sub expert to help me out here, since it seems my computer fails to be able to handle subtitles for a song and speech in a scene without the video lagging up (this is especially noticeable in action scenes), I am hoping there is a way I can set it to only show the speech subtitles. If that is not possible with this particular set here then I'll just have to live with it I suppose. Thanks in advance for any help.
  21. Maybe I am just forgetting something, but I don't recall Hikaru ever using a CF-1J... unless it was in training or something, which was a sequence that lasted a few seconds in one episode.
  22. Worth a try. Thanks for the tip regardless. EDIT: I found the audio for Electric Fire, better than nothing I suppose. I guess I'm just limited to expensive DVDs or lousy torrents if I want the entire thing with video. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
  23. While on the subject of Macross music. Does anyone know by any chance if there is a decent copy of Electric Fire 2007 Tribute to Basara and Mylene I can find online? I know no one can post links, but I swear this one is hard to find. Any torrent I have found has a suckish share ratio, 2 day download if lucky. Any copy of the DVD I find is almost $70 (I have ways of playing region 2 DVDs so that isn't a problem), and the macrosshare thing doesn't seem to have it. If I was willing to pay $70 for a DVD that would be ok but it seems steep even if it is just because of costs of importing.
  24. I know all about it, I'm a rather huge TF fan, lol. I also tend to peruse that wiki very often, so I've seen the page. My point was mostly due to how the movie over exaggerated the humanization. However it really didn't bother me because I can easily overlook things to enjoy a story (which allowed me to like ROTF, unlike some people in the world). As for the pic, I am surprised how nice the CF-1J looks. I never was particularly fond of that color but it is very nice looking.
  25. Schizo, I wouldn't look too much into it. That movie did a little too much humanization of the Transformers as it is, throwing in human familial relationships is just one of them I took to ignoring. It is very possible Jetfire was not being serious about that father stuff. We are starting to get a big off topic though...
