I'll give you that, I love the SR-71. I was just making a point about Jetfire. Eugimon has a point as well, I did say a little bit of cheating after all. No doubt there was some fudging for the CGI model, but when it comes down to the toy which is meant to hit a $50 price point at max there is only so much that the toy designers can do and make it worth that low a price. Hence you are hit with the classic problem all Transformer jets face: robot kibble on the underside. It is an inescapable evil. Only the most die hard of TF fans are willing to pay the amount of money Macross fans do for Valkyries. I surely am not, and I can't afford Macross stuff as it is which is why all I have is a 1/48 VF-1J Max and the 1/72 VF-25S model. Low grade stuff can be good sometimes. Anyway, this page still has a lack of valk porn. Someone needs to get snapping.

To be fair, Michael Bay has nothing to do with the design of the robots or the toys, he just came up with the idea for making one of the robots turn into an SR-71 and then let the designers and animators take it from there. The CGI design for the character does work as I have heard many accounts that they make sure every part goes somewhere (with a little bit of cheating probably) but that doesn't mean they can replicate the complex transformations of those screen characters into a toy that won't cost $300. Also with the market for Transformers they don't want to make $300 toys. Valkyries are so good because Yamato and the like know Macross fans will pay that much money to get that good of a toy. Transformers doesn't work like that though, it was never meant to.

The black one is Gamlin's VF-22 from Macross Dynamite 7. He only ever used VF-17 variations in the show.

I am really not sure where to pose this question but seeing as no other forum seems right I'll ask here. Is there a place where I can look up the various discography of Yoshiki Fukuyama's work, both Macross related and non-Macross? I am mainly looking to see if I can find a list of all the albums he's done. The only one I know for sure is Fukuyama Fire which is all Fire Bomber songs, but I know he has done more than that. I'm just having a hard time finding information on other stuff he's done (or should I say, hard to find info on other stuff that isn't all in Japanese). If this doesn't belong here feel free to move it, but I don't know where this would go otherwise.

That is a 1/60 v2 VF-1S I believe.

I am very interested to see how your subbing project for the various shows goes Gubaba. If I only knew anything in translating and making subs I might help but unfortunately I don't have the slightest clue about any of that. Considering I don't have a set of Frontier episodes with subs you project is most intriguing, that as well as having the other shows done as well. I am very upset at Shinsen for stopping after ep.14 of Frontier, because they seemed the best in my opinion, though I hadn't heard of THORA, I may check those out to see the BD rips, but I bet they are pretty big in file size. Wow this is like the first post I've made in a long time. I am always lurking though.

mecha designs sdf macross compared to dyrl
Master Dex replied to pondo's topic in Movies and TV Series
Damn March, you don't waste any time. Always remember, there is always room for more, heheh. As for the valks, I too agree the more mechanical hands are better. Although the boxing gloves have a bit of nostalgia too them. I keep the boxing gloves on my 1/48 VF-1J Max just because that is a TV valk so it fits better. Also the 1/48 mechanical hands are flimsy. I hear the 1/60 v2 hands are good though. -
Are they actually making a Virgin Road valk? It would be easy I suppose, just take the VF-1D sculpt and give it VF-1J Max colors but I didn't think they'd actually do it.
-
Better than tiny Darth Vader hands though . I know you were making the joke anyway but I couldn't resist!
-
Out of curiosity, does the 1S Max have the same gray plastic that people say the 1S Roy has? If so that will calm any worries I have about yellowing because the 1S Max is the only one of the new Max valks I want.
-
Well, Yamato is making an SDF-1 figure... at 1/2000 scale of course, making it the biggest I think has been done for that particular ship/mecha. As for Valkyries, I wouldn't know if they have any plans for something that hasn't been done before or not.
-
No, it is hanging on to the wing joint with the cooling flap open. I just thought it looked cool and as if the gunpod was strapped to the back. Made for a better picture than gunpod sitting on ground while the valk uses its knife.

Will the white plastic of the VF-1 v.2 go yellow evantually?
Master Dex replied to Omegablue's topic in Toys
You may not be wrong. However I am no expert of ABS plastic or yellowing. Also I wasn't laughing, but semantics I suppose. -

Master Dex replied to Omegablue's topic in Toys
If your sig is true Schizo, then why do I find what you have to say so absolutely fascinating? I'm not too worried about yellowing right now, granted the only Yammie I own is a 1/48 VF-1J Max and the amount of white on their is proportional to the amount on non-white colors of most valks so there isn't much reason to worry, lol. I do plan to eventually get a v.2 1/60 VF-1S Max so then I can worry about yellowing. However I and no one around me smokes and I tend to keep them in areas that don't get heavy amounts of sunlight anyway. -
That launching arm thing is really cool. I have nothing special but poses and I'm no professional photographer, but here are some new images of my 1/48 VF-1J Max and my 1/72 VF-25S Ozma in battroid poses (freshly transformed for these pictures).
-
On top of that from Macross Frontier ep.2 Ozma does that in an armored VF-25S, which is even heavier. So it sounds like valkyrie balance systems are very well made.
-
One thing to keep in mind is that in the fiction they have energy converting armor that strengthens everything on the valkyrie so it can probably handle the stresses of transformation. Another possibility is that although we have seen high speed transformations in the shows, a more realistic possibility is if they switched to Gerwalk to slow their velocity and then to battroid, the stress on the wings would be reduced (this type of transformation is also often seen on the shows). Also in the end of the day Valkyries are just cooler than static mechs... which really just sounds like gundams to me. Also for the record I am an engineering student (Aerospace too) but not an engineer yet, so my knowledge may not be as reliable as an actual engineer's. Also being only a student I am poor and hence only have one Yamato valkyrie (looking toward a second), lol.

Muhahaha!!! Anyway, do it Gubaba's way if you must watch it is perfect chronological order... I just watch by basic chronological order, that is just me though.

Macross II is not in official continuity with any of those there. Macross II is a parallel universe based on DYRL (which is itself a movie inside the Macross universe ). To correct your time line, it should be like this: Macross Zero (2008)... SDF Macross (2009-2011)... Flashback 2012 (this is necessary to watch IMO)... Macross Plus (2040)... Macross 7 (2045-2046)... Macross Dynamite 7 (2047)... Macross Frontier (2059).

Can't agree with you more Gubaba. It saddens me that some people can't enjoy the music and really listen to the song. When Basara sings Angel Voice and the whales start harmonizing with him is one of the coolest things I've seen in a show like this. Of course for me it is easy to like Macross 7 and all of the music because I really enjoy Fire Bomber music and have a bunch of the songs from the show and from Yoshiki Fukuyama himself.
-
That would be Dynamite 7...

Max because I generally don't care for Hikaru's colors. Plus I am a big time Max fan.

I want to get the VF-1S Max but I may put it off for a while until I have more to spend. I was going to do it sooner but for now I'm allocating funds to a VF-25G 1/72 model and fast packs for it. I might be able to get Max's 1S sometime in the summer or after though, I do still want it. It'll go great with my 1/48 VF-1J Max!
-
I agree with Honkhet, my favorite 25 is the G, with the S being close second. I currently own the VF-25S 1/72 model and plan to get the VF-25G with fast packs (with special joint tightening construction thanks to honkhet's tips). They will make a good display with my 1/48 VF-1J Max. I think I'll get 3 flexi-displays in a set and use them for all three of these. It may seem a bit much to use a flexi-display for models but I don't quite like the action stand from Bandai for the models simply because I want to be sure the models don't fall off the stand. When the stand hooks onto a gunpod that doesn't always like to stay attached itself, I worry for the plane falling off.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Master Dex replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Nice, thanks. Those parts of the swing bars are ones I knew I would have to coat because those are the ones that are the biggest problems on my VF-25S, rarely I can't get gerwalk to fold because of those. As for the rest, thanks for the note. On the panel on the leg piece, probably a good idea, I am not even sure why it is there in the first place really. It seems to be so the feet don't accidentally slide in or out but the mechanism for them seem to be strong enough to hold themselves so I don't see a problem, and if you have removed it and everything still works fine then it must not matter too much.
