  1. Wow, reanimating stuff from SDFM for a pachinko game? That hardcore. Nonetheless I too would love to see more of this, especially CG SDF-1 and Hikaru vs. Kamjin.
  2. The Pachinko game must run off of song energy. It's the only logical conclusion.
  3. That is why the VF-27 is designed for cyborg use only, .
  4. I actually have wind tunnels at my disposal.. I'm not supposed to use them for random things though, as they are expensive. So I can't do much about that. I probably won't even use the wind tunnels much. My major is Astronautical Engineering, a focus of space craft design. Though in truth that makes me fully capable to design an aircraft, both Aeronautical and Astronautical teach you all you need for either, there are just some minor differences. They're made of foam... I could go into detail about that, but I am uninterested and don't really want to think about it at the moment, lol.
  5. That pretty much settles it in my book. I could probably figure out if it could fly with a T-W ratio of less than one... but again I think I need another years worth of education for that (and I'm lazy enough not to look up the information to figure it out now, unlike Schizo who seems to have a good grasp on more of this at a younger age, lol).
  6. It would... but it isn't going to happen. You read enough topics and posts on this forum, and you'll understand why eventually.
  7. Doesn't sound wrong Schizo, but I haven't had much education in structures or materials yet so I can't back up a lot of it. Way I see it though, the lifting capability of the VF-1 fuselage is moot since it does have large angle thrust vectoring (the angles those exhaust vents move is far larger than any modern thrust vectoring engines, mostly due to the fact they become feet when the VF-1 transformers), and the nuclear fusion powered reaction engine could put out more thrust than any modern conventional turbine engine. To make it an effective fighter in the atmosphere they couldn't ignore making it with an acceptable airframe (as opposed to just letting it be a brick with big engines... like the space shuttle) but my point is it doesn't have to be perfect. Those engines can handle keeping the plane up and still be graceful in flight. It's like a gooney bird, looks completely ungraceful on the ground, but flies very well.
  8. The wingless F-15 story is legendary among engineers and pilots, but that was more a testament to how incredibly powerful the F-15s engines are than it's fuselage making any decent lift. The axiom says, put a powerful enough engine on it, it will fly. I think twin reaction engines will do the trick just fine.
  9. Well in conventional jet engines, the main thrust is a mix of compressed air and jet fuel. The turbine takes in air, mixes it with fuel and then ignites the combination resulting in a powerful burning reaction that is forced out of the back of the engine by path of least resistance. Afterburners basically work by squirting extra fuel into the exiting thrust, making the reaction more powerful and producing extra thrust. This is the same for passenger jets as well as fighter jets (except passenger planes don't have afterburners, lol) but the systems on fighter jets are tuned to a greater thrust capability than any passenger jet. As for the VF-0 underwater, I always assumed the engines took in extra air before the intakes closed and used that air to help create its thrust underwater. It wouldn't last long but they did say it could only stay underwater a short time. When it comes to the reaction engines of the VF-1, everything changes. There, some type of nuclear fusion (based on the fictional Macross reaction technology) occurs which heats up the air taken in by the turbines to the point where the molecules excite to a plasma state which is what is forced out the back of the engine. The VF-1 has something called overboost like afterburners but I don't know if it was ever explained anywhere how that works, perhaps the turbines spin faster to gather more air for higher thrust. What makes the VF-1 reaction engine so much better than conventional is how clean it is. The exhaust is entirely super heated air, which would cool down eventually, instead of air/jet fuel mix which is about as environmentally friendly as car exhaust (probably less friendly). To work in space, valkyries would probably carry some on board propellant like hydrogen or something to replace the lack of air they can use. This propellant is what it heated up by the fusion for thrust in space. This is mainly conjecture though, they never stated what they use for propellant in space in any series, but it would be limited, unlike in an atmosphere. Fast Packs probably carry extra propellant.
  10. Pete that was a very nice explanation about Macross 7 up there and I can't agree more. I don't particularly like or understand why they needed to go the song energy route, but at the same time, I like the concept that you can amplify an energy based on the emotion of song to easier reach someone else. The reason I like Macross 7 isn't all the cheesy stuff. It is at its core, still Macross. Also I've grown to respect Basara despite his obvious faults and think he is a pretty good character. You also have to respect someone who can fly a valkyrie using an acoustic guitar to manipulate the controls (Dynamite 7). I also love the music, the show made me a full on Yoshiki Fukuyama fan as I've said. Simply BOMBAA!!
  11. Macross, by definition in the Macross universe, is the official name of the SDF-1. Hence it is usually labeled SDF-1 Macross. In Robotech they changed it so the island was already called Macross island and that is why the city on it was named as such. Robotech just called the ship SDF-1. In Macross the ship was named Macross because of its large size (I think the in universe reason is Macro(Big) Space Ship or something like that). In reality the story writers called it Macross because they were compromising when one person wanted it to be called Macbeth, and the romanization for Macbeth and Macross are similar. Macross city was so named because it was built around, and later inside the Macross ship. Also if your curious, in Macross, the island ASS-1 crashed on was called South Ataria Island. It is still fictional, but it makes more sense to me than Macross island.
  12. You and me both March, you and me both. Though being an engineering student, if I had the time, I could try to figure out if the VF-1 was aerodynamically feasible. However I don't think I have had the high enough education to do that much, and besides... I'm an engineering student... I have no free time...
  13. Where can I see this video? If it is on youtube I'll look but a link would be nice. EDIT: Nvm, I found it. Wasn't that hard.
  14. That's not fair, Basara is clearly right handed in the show. That last picture is all wrong, lol. Not to mention the one you labeled as Basara is playing a base, and you labeled Mylene as the main guitar, when they are in actuality the other way around. To be clear on where I stand: BOMBAA!!!
  15. You just have to watch M7 differently than the others. It isn't a parody, it just has a different tone. It helps a lot if you really like Fire Bomber music (and by association Fukuyama-san's music, of which I am a huge fan now thanks to M7). I was actually able to get into the whole song energy concept, even if the entire idea behind it makes little sense scientifically., on a psychological level such a thing can have an impact.
  16. Ok, that is what I figured it was. Usually best seller games like that in U.S. aren't listed as releasing separately later, I just notice they are there one day, lol. Since I plan to get a PSP some time in the next month maybe that version of the fame would be the best for me to buy.
  17. I thought the sequel was called Macross Ultimate Frontier. That listing was still using the name of the first game with (PSP the Best) added on to it.
  18. I know what that is like. More like for me no one was actively hiring at all, lol.
  19. On several online stores I've seen listings for Macross Ace Frontier which is of course already out, and something called Macros Ace Frontier (PSP the Best) which has a September release date for this year. Is this is re-release of Ace Frontier with extra stuff or something? Perhaps just the same game with a best seller tag?
  20. Alas, poor Yorick, I knew... myself?
  21. That I can respect. Mostly because I really love Fukuyama music more than it being a Macross thing. Though sometimes with this music I really wonder if there is something to this song energy thing, lol.
  22. It is almost ironic that your so close and they only sell goods via shipment. Actually that may just be a coincidence. C'est la Vie
  23. Depends if that actually have a local shop or if the business just ships everything. I don't know, but it sounds like a plausible system. I still have yet to buy any flexi-stands... I only have one yamato valk and a VF-25 model. I think I'll be encouraged to get the set of 3 stands after I end up getting that VF-1S Max... whenever that happens.
  24. I can't say I've gone too far... I only got into Macross about a few years ago at best, but it has become one of my biggest interest. I only have one Yamato Valkyrie, a Bandai VF-25 model. Anything I bought (media-wise, the Valks came from Japan/Hong Kong) was available in America, and people know as I've said, I downloaded a few things. Guess I certainly can't compete with the real hardcore fans then. I haven't gone too far out of my way. Like I said though, I wasn't that hugely into Macross about 3 years ago, I sort of just jumped into it head first. Maybe if I was a longer time fan I would have gone out of my way and actually bought more of everything. Who knows?
  25. Yeah, Zod was a bit obvious for this crowd. I always though Zod was so funny what with the commanding and the planet Houston. Hmm... a Zod valk is an interesting idea. A good reason to support a 1/60 Stealth even though many in the Flexi stand thread don't want it.
