That would be Dynamite 7...

Max because I generally don't care for Hikaru's colors. Plus I am a big time Max fan.

I want to get the VF-1S Max but I may put it off for a while until I have more to spend. I was going to do it sooner but for now I'm allocating funds to a VF-25G 1/72 model and fast packs for it. I might be able to get Max's 1S sometime in the summer or after though, I do still want it. It'll go great with my 1/48 VF-1J Max!

I agree with Honkhet, my favorite 25 is the G, with the S being close second. I currently own the VF-25S 1/72 model and plan to get the VF-25G with fast packs (with special joint tightening construction thanks to honkhet's tips). They will make a good display with my 1/48 VF-1J Max. I think I'll get 3 flexi-displays in a set and use them for all three of these. It may seem a bit much to use a flexi-display for models but I don't quite like the action stand from Bandai for the models simply because I want to be sure the models don't fall off the stand. When the stand hooks onto a gunpod that doesn't always like to stay attached itself, I worry for the plane falling off.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

Nice, thanks. Those parts of the swing bars are ones I knew I would have to coat because those are the ones that are the biggest problems on my VF-25S, rarely I can't get gerwalk to fold because of those. As for the rest, thanks for the note. On the panel on the leg piece, probably a good idea, I am not even sure why it is there in the first place really. It seems to be so the feet don't accidentally slide in or out but the mechanism for them seem to be strong enough to hold themselves so I don't see a problem, and if you have removed it and everything still works fine then it must not matter too much. -

Thanks honkhet, that was very helpful, I found a bunch of Mr. Color products after searching. I couldn't find that exact same one, yours in Mr. Color 182. The closest I could find is 181 which is a Semi-Gloss Super Clear. Do you think it will matter if I am just using it for joints if it is semi-gloss and not flat? Also do you recommend the retarder? Looks like it would help in making the clear coat application a bit more even. -

Will the armor packs for Ozma be sold separately like the super packs? If so that is all I need to know since I already have Ozma. Also to anyone who may know, is this a good clear coat to go for? The only good seeming one I've found in stock somewhere (seriously, I am finding it difficult to find this stuff, must be searching wrong): http://www.megahobby.com/index.asp?PageAct...amp;ProdID=9439 -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

A bit off topic, but I have some questions. First continuing from my stand question earlier, does anyone think it would just be more prudent of me to go ahead with using flexi-display stands for these to ensure they don't fall over and such (see earlier post for my worry of why they might with action stand)? I want to get flexi-displays anyway for my 1/48 VF-1J Max so i thought I'd get a set for three and use the extra 2 for my VF-25S model and the the other could be for my future VF-25G model (I don't have any other valks right now). Another question I have concerns clear coat. I am having more trouble than I thought finding some clear coat stuff for use in the joint tightening method honkhet described to me. Most of this stems from me really not knowing anything about clear coat substances so I don't know what is good when I search for this stuff. However what I am looking for is some type of flat clear coat (non-spray is preferable), but my searches leave me with results I am unsure about. Does anyone know a good place to get this or a good type or brand since I am not having much luck in finding either? -
The VF-25 models are actually in between the High grade and Master grade Gundam models. All I did is panel line and apply stickers to my 1/72 Ozma and it looks great in my opinion. You only paint if you want something more personal than decals or stickers or if you want something custom. Panel lining just because it looks much nicer but they still can look good without it.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

Well for when I am home this isn't a problem, but when at school my desk is combined with my bed and it is very easy to shake or bump the desk. For most of my items this is little of a problem because the shake or bump isn't enough to mess with any of them, but it might mess with this. The VF-25S can stay standing though in gerwalk and battroid through these shakes, but only if in a stable stance. Maybe I should just utilize flexi-display stands for this and the VF-25G model I plan to get since I was going to get a set of those anyway for my 1/48 VF-1J Max. -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

While we are on the subject of stands. I am a little cautious of the action display stands. I have considered getting one for my VF-25S Ozma but it seems the stands by the instructions connect to the piece on the gunpod (in fighter mode that is anyway). Problem is, and this may just be with my model, is that the gunpod isn't the most sturdiest piece of the model and I've had the thing fall of before in fighter mode several times. So I am worried that if I get the action stand and set it up in fighter, the gunpod may decide to fall off again which would result in the entire fighter falling off the stand which I don't want. Anyone have any insight on this, whether I am wrong or if there is a better way of getting the gunpod attached? It is sometimes the hardest part to get back on in fighter after a transformation (next to the shield). Also I'd like to thank honkhet for the great pics and for the help in telling me how to tighten up the model like he did. I am giving very serious consideration into getting the VF-25G with super parts and trying to build it up to see if I can get the same success he did. -
Like I said, I'm no camera expert. I don't even have one for myself, I borrow friend's cameras, lol. As for me, I keep on going. 2 more weeks before the end of the semester for me, so lots of work going on. Will be nice to be on break for a while. Debating getting the VF-25G model, will continue debating for a few days before officially deciding. Think if I do I'll do like honkhet so posing will be easier, make some good pics.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3

Hey, I haven't been monitoring this thread in a while (not since early Feb. at best). I have gotten and built a 1/72 VF-25S Ozma a while back so I am not new to these models. Anyway I have been thinking about getting a VF-25G and I was wondering if there are any structural improvements that have been made since the Alto and Ozma releases? I'm not implying that my Ozma model is bad but sometimes (randomly almost) it can get real finicky and is very difficult to pose or transform while other times it will handle perfectly (if anyone wants to take a stab at why this happens go ahead). Also I am thinking of getting super parts for the VF-25G if I get that, are the super parts difficult to attach to the model and/or is it better to just leave them on or is it easy enough to take them off if you want to display it without? -
Megapixels really has nothing to do with how good the picture the camera takes is. However I am not a camera expert, I was just told that by a camera expert, so I wouldn't know when one is good.
-
Actually I don't think Alto was born on Frontier, but I don't know where he was born otherwise. Nonetheless I don't remember their launch dates but I believe that information does exist.

I know this valk comes out in April sometime, but does anyone have any idea as to when in April or is Yamato always this vague? I am just curious because right now I am wrestling with buying something either (much more expensive than this) or this VF-1S here but if this doesn't come out until late April I don't know if I will wait for it (if I don't get it this month I'll wait a while longer for it probably). However if this comes out early to mid April I may just wait for it (or place a pre-order).

Let us not forget throughout all this that Ranka isn't really Ozma's sister... she is adopted, so Lee isn't her real surname, or whatever it is (I can't keep any of this straight truthfully), Mei is... but she doesn't use that obviously because until the end of the show she didn't know it and now she may just prefer to be known as Ranka Lee.
-
Mog, that is clearly a VF-1A DYRL Max. Also it seems that it is a 1/60 v2 scale... but that valk hasn't come out yet. How do you have that, or did you paint parts blue not wanting to wait? If it has come out already (I know it comes out this month) then HLJ is a bit slow on the uptake.
-
The blue seems bright indeed. However it seems Max's VF-1S has a black heat shield. I think it looks a bit better as black than blue. Can't remember which it is in the game or the movie right now. So yeah, with the black skull logo, it would look fine with that on the fast packs. Good to know the fast packs can be made to be for any of them though. I think if and when I get Max VF-1S I may have to wait a while before picking up strike packs to save a little money.
-
I know Max never used SSP on the 1S in the movie but I just really like strike parts on a 1S. Also I use Max's VF-1S with strike packs if SDF Macross on PS2 all the time (that or Max VF-1J with super parts, depends on situation) and it looks killer there. However that makes sense that they wouldn't release a set just for Mac since he didn't use the parts in the movie. So the current standalone SSP set, will that work fine with the VF-1S Max you think? I was worried they'd have Roy or Hikaru colors that couldn't be changed or taken off.
-
I too am very interested in getting a Max VF-1S even though I'm not exactly easy on the money right now. However I have a 1/48 VF-1J Max and the new 1/60 VF-1S Max will go great with it, two different versions of the legendary genius. I have a question though someone may know, I can tell the VF-1S Max isn't coming out with strike or super parts at first, any idea when we get a set with strike parts, or even when a strike parts set will come out. Or would any strike parts do for it? I don't know if they can be interchangeable (color wise and all, Roy's strike parts probably wouldn't work as well). Do they even sell individual strike and super parts for the existing 1/60s?
-
I thought Milia despite her looks was much older than just 15. Don't the Zentradi have rather long life spans being genetically engineered clones?
-
Most likely the Supervision Army war was all but done. The Zentradi were ordered to eradicate all traces of them though so they were making sure that there were none left. It is possible remnants still exist and are active, but I don't think there is an all out war still going on. If so I think we would have seen evidence of Supervision Army activity, all we have seen that humanity encountered in the galaxy are Zentradi, Protodeviln, and Vajra (and the protodeviln were in stasis originally so they almost don't count). The Zola are another race but not one they warred with, even so the fact that they encountered all these and not Supervision Army remnants most likely means they aren't around much anymore if at all.
-
I think truthfully if I get a 1/60 I'll either go with a VF-1S Roy strike pack or wait until the DYRL VF-1S Max that comes out this month has a strike pack set and get that. You can guess I am a fan of Max Jenius and his valkyrie line up.
-
Very good, that is what I needed to know. I think it is well worth getting the set of 3 then. I only have the 1/72 VF-25S and the 1/48 VF-1J Max but I am sure I can find a use for the third one. I may just have to find a new valk for it, lol, as if I could afford a third one. Though the new 1/60s are really nice.... This is going to be the end for me as far as any money I have...
