  1. Hi 3P TF fans! I got some noob questions on Masterpiece-like 3P toys, specifically Jazz KOs. I understand that a real MP Jazz will probably never happen due to licensing issues, so I've been looking into my 3P alternatives. Alt-mode look and scale is kind-of unimportant to me, but bot mode should scale very close to the real MP line and overall look like it fits right in. And cartoon accuracy is very important to me. From my research, it seems Maketoys Downbeat is my best fit, but I wanted to ask here what people around here think first. Are there better alternatives out there or on the way? Which is the best and cheapest online store to buy 3P toys? I've also heard of stickers of the Autobot logo that you can put on your 3P toys. Where could I get one that would fit the chest area of Downbeat? Thanks in advance!
  2. Sooo... Way back, there was some discussion about some members here making covers for the horrible metal bars in Fighter mode. Did those projects go anywhere? I would still be interested in buying something like that at least.
  3. Agreed that VF vs VF has been overplayed. I also think a Zentradi focus would be interesting. We haven't actually seen that much of life within the Zentradi fleet, especially not one that has been incorporated into NUNS. Macross II had a Zentradi specific VF and I think the current main Macross universe could play around with that idea as well (I know the YF-21/VF-22 has Queadluun heritage, but it doesn't really fit the bill).
  4. Ah! I had forgot about that character. I need to rewatch Orguss soon.
  5. The link works for me, but as I mentioned before, some of the pictures won't load. It's an archived site, so occasional errors should be expected.
  6. My wallet isn't ready. :'( By the way, what's that small green thing next to it?
  7. No, those three shows have been available several times on DVD before. It's the Macross sequels that are affected by the legal trouble.
  8. Yeah, I saw that gallery, but some image links was broken for me, so I took one image that worked.
  9. Froy, I remember those too and I have also tried to find images of them, but with no luck. They were about the size of a human, IIRC. Edit: They were called "Super Scale" and was 1/12, about 150 cm tall. According to Macross Mecha Manual, no. Regarding the scale issue... It's a sloppy mistake by Bandai, but it wouldn't be a first for the HMR line (remember the stripes on Hikaru's 1J?). Then again, the main letdown with the line as I see it is the small scale, so I shouldn't complain that much if it's too big. And also, no one else is making a Spartan.
  11. Well, isn't this the first Minmay doll that can actually dance and play music like in the show? KitzConcept gets some points from me just for that. And you can make it play whatever you want. But it looks pretty plastic and cheap, unfortunately. :/ At this rate, KitzConcept should actually release some of the stuff they are announcing. I've stopped keeping track, but it's a long list and so far they've only released the SD VF-1 and Super Pack...
  12. You might want to check out the sequel a bit before showing it to your daughter. It has a lot of fan service and sexualizes underage girls in a way that was very uncomfortable at least to me. "Parental dicretion is advised."
  13. I also thought this wouldn't make it for the longest time. But it now says that some of the higher pledge tiers are sold out, so that should be the reason for the sudden spike. Great to see!
  14. It will probably take a while before I have time to build and paint it, but I can take pictures of the box and contents when I get it.
  15. For anyone that's interested, the Legioss is now up for pre-order on the Robotech Store: https://www.therobotechstore.com/products/evolution-mospeada-legioss-afc01h Not the best price, though...

Yes, one is seen in episode 2, which is quite a bit before Kamjin is introduced, so it must be another one.
  17. I would also recommend Terra e (aka Toward the Terra). It's not really so much like LoGH (it's more like X-men in space with a good touch of classic dystopies), but it's very good. See the series before the old movie (which is the same story, just condensed and with outdated animation).
  18. Focslain: The obvious answer would be Tytania - it's made by the same studio as LoGH and based on books by the same author. Sadly, the books were never finished and thus the series is full of fillers and ends on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. If you can lower your expectations, I'd say it's still worth a watch.
  19. My copy had some quality issues. Also, it's too grey in my opinion and the knee joints are way too gappy and shows a lot of metal, which is distracting. And then it's the "actually too expensive for what you get" angle that's common for (almost) the whole HMR line, but I realize that's just how things are.
  20. Best: 1. Yamato/Arcadia VF-1 v.2 It's a classic for a reason. No wonder it's the one I have the most variants of. 2. Bandai DX Chogokin VF-25S Armored (Renewal) Not because their VF-25 is necessarily the best toy mold (it's not), but because it looks so damn good on my shelf. (I know that with the Armor Pack installed, it's technically two toys combined, but I bend the rules.) 3. Bandai Hi-Metal R Destroid Monster High competition for the third place. Could have gone to either the DX VF-31J because of its engineering or a lot of the Yamato/Arcadia Valkyries due to their anime accuracy and luxury feel, but the Monster is probably one of the best looking on my shelf. Honorable mention to the Arcadia VF-0S which was the closest to make third place. Worst: 1. Revoltech transforming VF-1S A piece of crap. Gave it away to my unknowing brother and never looked back. 2. Evolution Toys VF-2SS I knew it wouldn't be that good when I ordered it, but it's so badly engineered and frustrating to handle it's insane. 3. Bandai DX Chogokin VF-19 ADVANCE I just don't get the praise it gets. It's just a gappy mess in fighter mode, the excessive tampo makes it busy and cluttered, and it got visible tabs when the Super Parts are installed. I just keep it in fighter mode because battroid is too stylized for my taste. Sitting between my Arcadia YF-19 and DX Chogokin YF-29 Isamu version as part of my "History of Isamu's Rides" display is its only saving grace as far as I'm concerned. Dishonorable mention to my Bandai Hi-Metal R VF-1A and Regult, which almost made the list.

Wow! I got to hand it to them, that scheme looks great.
  22. Yeah, I get what you mean. Maybe that's why I don't like it (I'm not that fond of the VF-11B's color scheme).
