  1. Thank you so much sir! The supposed 'retcon' MZ23 looks great!
  2. Always loved Haruhiko 'HAL' Mikimoto art. The reason why I was drawn to Eve in MEGAZONE 23, SDC: Orguss, Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket. Also perhaps the real reasons why I absolutely adored Macross 7 & Macross II (both charcter designs by HAL) without any residue hangups, unlike a few MWers. Also hoped that Macross the First will be done in mangaka format like Macross 7 Trash. The new Minmay reimagined is hawttt!
  3. Thrice a year, I held a MACROSS franchise marathon in front of my idiot box, re-basking myself on the glory of Macross. In keeping up with time, & me changing course to becoming UC Gundam fan, this year I reduced my MACROSS marathon to only once, & upped the ante to held UC Gundam marathon to twice a year. Yes, I'll be waiting for that Mac F Movie. Just for the sake of recharging myself for Macross spirits, I just popped FB 2012 & Macross 7 Dynamite once a while ...
  4. What time machine? Unlike you all western gaijins, I'd a headstart by having watched the entire SDFM series even before the 'evil' RT makes its way to my country back in 1980s. That makes ME a TRUE BLUE MACROSS FAN! I ain't dissing Mac II nor Mac 7, I loved 'em the way they are! Accept all the freaking flaws, absorbed all the Macross awesomeness, that's how a standard Japanese (or hardcore) Macross fans do! Follow the crowd, man! If some deluded Macross fans continue in veins finding faults with every inch of Macross incarnations, its pretty frakking useless. Each Macross series are targeted specifically for new GENERATION of fans, something that self professed-glorified 'ol Macross coots could never understand, especially those with Western-gaijin mindset. I on the other hand, accept Macross as what it is, an entertaining & fun anime franchise, have been enjoying 'em immensely for nearly 26 years & counting! The mass collective Macross fans ruled the market demand of the franchise! Follow the masses, as the HORY FROATING HEAD commands you!
  5. Hell yeah! Lynn 'The Shiznitz' Kaifunn rulez!
  6. Ohhh, the audacity of so-called 'Macross Purists' to align themselves as TRUE BLUE Macross fans, when they discard Macross 7 or even Macross II outta the equation! The Macross dissenters must be purged from Macross collectives! They must be subjected into re-education camps with mandatory listening to every lines, every lyrics spouted by the GREAT BASARA! BAH! Me, despite being former RT fan, AM A TRUE BLUE MACROSS DIEHARD NO.1 FAN! Have watched the ENTIRE Macross franchise had to offer, sans Macross F the Movie. Plus, a TRUE BLUE MACROSS DIEHARD absolutely LURVEEDDDDD Macross 7 & its ilks! BOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
  7. In the broad sense, yes, RT fans tend to treat RT some sort of hard sci-fi as that compared to Star Wars or Star Trek. I believe even Seto can vouch for that. I myself prefer the more 'adult' theme of RT, but with Macross, its kinda hard when there's Macross 7 attached to it ... music beat alien everytime & so forth .... but that is very subjective. With RT, its tend to somber all the way, but Macross is both somber & fun. Kinda make sense Macross-verse wins hands down, coz everybody gotta have fun!
  8. Definitely WRONG! Even in original MOSPEADA, that footage you said didn't exist. That Inbit prince (Corg) blew up with his Gorse (Gosu) after Stig (Scott) spammed 'im with missiles & lasers from his TLEAD (BETA). We clearly see his cockpit burst with greenish spray (standard Inbit blood / goo) ... in fact I'm rewatching the same scene right now, not the RT version, but the GC MOSPEADA instead ... Please do not doubt Cyc. He is to my knowledge is the most knowleadgable guy on Mospeada-verse apart from uRRG guys like Pieter Thomassen & Robert Morgenstern.
  9. Ahhh, well, being an RT fan limited one's mindset, y'know .... thus Macross far more liberating, BOOMBAAAAAA! I'll stick to UC Era ..... For RT itchin', there's always that RTSC lying around somewhere .... for Macross II, heck, its being a long time since I ever rewatch the darn thing, for Macross fix I kinda stick to Macross 7 ... never knew why .... BOMMBAAAAA! Damn J-Pop to hell!
  10. Macek, definitely. But then again, how many big players in Japan animation industry actually give a fart into that ol guy? Japan animation industry is pretty much insular, they cater to homecrowds, not to any self professed anime fans of the gaijin world. Perhaps ol farts in Japanimation do, but the newer, hippier angst ridden, bubblegum pop new Japanese animators don't even knew or care about Macek or HG into account (with exception of Big West & Tatsunoko).
  11. Well, that's why I said the Macross fan in me kinda hesitated on that. Obviously. For the bloodsuck... uhhh ... capitalistic HG to bleed .... uhhh ... to make more money & nice tidy profits before the franchise drew its last breath. I've seen enough posts over Mac II vs Mac 7 in MW, so let's not go into that .... Let's just say even BigWest erred on 'Clash of the Bionoids' thingies ..... Macross II can be readapted, without any butche .... editing needed. What was needed, changed the Mardook's motivation, racial identity & vice versa. Plus, post apocalypse Macross II world kinda smack dab with the post GC Mospeada / RT:TNG. With 'creative' writings, it can be done. But as I said, even I hesitate to include Macross II into RT-verse .... better RT to lived on with MOSPEADA as its basis. RT is better of than continue living in Macross shadows. That's where comics or even novels could do, to flesh out the RT-verse. RT is riddled with inconsistencies, but by targeting new (mostly kids or teenagers) demographic, they don't care about plotholes. Of course, only annoying RT older fans will whine ... but hey, since when HG listens to fans. But people @ HG or the RT fans might not see your way. As for me, I'm burnout on it (& Macross to an extent), thus moved on to bigger things in life (like Gundam  ). What I give is basically how RT can moved on ... although I personally prefer they pulled a MOSPEADA II series, & reedited it into RT has much better merit than shoehorning Mac II. It is a wet dream, with all that Valk II & Gilgamesh & Marduk pods vaguely resembled SDF: Macross or RT: Macross Saga. Deluded RT fans will undoubtedly lapped up pseudo 'Veritech', neo 'Bioroids', aggressive 'Masters & Zentraedi ilks', big alien 'Robotech' fleet threatened Earth storyline once more. Ever wonder why RT: Macross Saga is RT fans no. 1 segment of all three arc? Of course, having Palladium who once distributed both RT & Mac II RPG titles kinda put a nail on that dream .... You can also be sarcastic, its RT for Pete's sake. Heck, its MW, where's the pitchfork?
  12. I doubt that other big players in Japanese animation industry, apart from BigWest & Tatsunoko, gave a fart on HG, or that HG is even insignificant in grander scheme of things. SDF: Macross is not really groundbreaking, Gundam was. Reason, Gundam pretty well swallows up the entire mecha genre.
  13. For me, not that terrible, just mediocre, even by Japanese or American standard. I've seen much worse anime than RTSC (if we can called it as anime). But atleast it is pretty decent on its own, when not compared to other series. I pretty much considered RTSC in the same league as those B-movies, modest budgets, good for rental only or for TV showings.
  14. Holy crap! Now I wanted that art for my desktop wallpaper! Hell yeah!
  15. Thank you, google! Here is the pre-production character art for newly revamped RT 3000 (the CG version pretty much suck donkey's arse) series, & was up on RT.com gallery from 2001 to 2007, if I'm not mistaken. This was when before Yune get onboard, I believed. For awhile, before Yune was around, RT.com pimped these art for the new upcoming RT project, an animated series in style of anime replacing the CG RT 3000, but after Yune kicked around with RT: Mars Force (corny, ain't it) that later transformed into RTSC, Suzy Kramer simply faded just like that. Suzy Kramer: Brent Hawkins:
  16. Ahhh well, Gubaba, let's face it, Robotech is a ripof ... uhhh ... "adaptation" of 3 different anime & re-butch... uhh ... "reedited" animation into one animated saga. Its strengths have always being to rely on borrowed themes of the original Japanese series, nothing more, nothing less. Attempting originality for resulted in craps like RT: Sentinels & RT: Untold Story (atleast HG claimed it was original, given a new footage added to Megazone 23 & splices of SDC:SC scenes). Atleast RTSC was a mixed result, attempting new look at the franchise & the storyline, but still reliant towards GC: Mospeada & that Rick Hunter from Makrossu ... uhh ... RT Macross Saga. Am I (as a Robotech fan) serious about the opinion to adapt Macross II into RT ... yes, it would atleast give the fanchise a kick of life it desperately needed. But as a Macross fan, I've mixed feelings due to craptastic RT: Untold Story (the original Megazone is a blast!). So, RT needs to go the RTSC way, new ideas for storyline, pilfering on unused Mospeada & Southern Cross aesthetics or, adapted an anime into RT-verse. Rebooting with new original ideas & new mecha designs is way to risky for the dying franchise (HG is not WB, Disney or even to BigWest standard). Atleast Carl Macek attempted with half-arsed all CG RT 3000, well, that tanked pretty quick. But, Rt.com started showing newly designed pre-production character Suzy Kramer & some guy - in revamped anime art. That design showed some promise (I can't seem to find the original art anymore from RT.com - although Jasonc might have one) for a new RT series (revamped RT 3000 with new storyline), atleast in terms of originality. By the time Yune onboard, that design & the new idea for anime-version of revamp RT 3000 got canned too. Ahh well, not that I'm complaining, since RT pretty much used up its nine lives (or is there more?) ...
  17. Well, it got Jun Ji-hyun, the Korean hottie ('My Sassy Girl' fame) as Saya in that movie! Hell yeah, if the movie sucks bigtime, I'd still go just to see her kick arse in action movie (she usually played stereotyped Korean girl, demure, spunky, even the long-haired ghost) so it gonna be a treat!
  18. I watched the original Mospeada & SDF Macross way back in late 1980s, so when RT made it appearance in early 1990s, I actually thought that RT was the English version of the original series .... boy, was I ever wrong ... Notwithstanding, when RT finished its run, I credited RT for actually getting me to become an otaku. I rediscovered Macross via Macross Plus, & the rest was history.
  19. Back to Robotech again, I've stopped going to RT.com for a while, a few times lurking only in threads where Setokaiba & Blackrose whacked ignorant & overzealous RT fans (for whatever reasons, that was amusing .... ahhh, me turning into ol' cynic prick ... told ya' fixation over Macross ain't that good). Kinda bored & tired, with that side goin' nowhere, atleast RT section at Palladium Board showed much better promise than nonsensical blurbs & substandard postings at RT.com. Heck, I spend more time perusing on MW than RT.com for the past 5 years or so!
  20. Well, given my fixation over Macross, Mospeada & Robotech, well, it hardly a monogamous relationship. Thanks to both Macross & Robotech relation, I managed to scoured hidden gems like SDC Orguss, in extension, BGC & MEGAZONE 21. Now I'm gonna start another triangular (now's that Mac F fixation!) with Gundam UC (limited it from 0079 - 0083), Patlabor (hell yeah!) & BGC 2040 .....
  21. Well, the idea has merit .... given Robotech itself is a hack- ..... uhhhh .... amalgation of 3 different anime series. Truth be told, me as a Robotech fan, wants Macross Zero (suitably edited ofcourse) & Macross II to be shoehorned into Robotech, given those two titles lackluster storylines. For Macross II, well, I like Macross II, but since Kawamori sweeped it under the rug, it'd be best if someone (HG?) to take Macross II & reinvented the darn thing (it ain't got much love anyway in Mac-verse). Given Palladium once even hold a license on Mac II, heck, re-incarnated as part of Robotech franchise has merit. Given Big West lackasaidal treatment over Mac II, just jettisoned it over to HG, & let HG worked from there. Whether it worked or not, well we already know HG is the successful hack ... uhhh ... reinvention of anime titles into a franchise. It is just a wet dream really. Seriously though, original animated Robotech works sucks donkey arse (as per industry standard, well SDF Macross has it shares too in that dept)! Look at Sentinels, or even sub par RTSC. RT is only good because it adapted other animes into RT-verse. It should do continuing doing so. RTSC succeeds a little by adapting to MOSPEADA aesthetics. As for future RT works, somehow, getting Macross II adaptation seems plausible. Who knows, either RT going the MOSPEADA route, or outright Macross (darn impossible ... or ... given WB prowess, could it be possible?) As a Macross fan, well, I do have reservation over the idea. So, safe to say, better for Robotech to go MOSPEADA route, there's tons of pre-production MOSPEADA & SC designs that can be re-used for future RT series, or HG should just bought over the rights to MEGAZONE & acquired awesome mecha designs itself (RT Untold Story notwithstanding). HG should just remarketed RTSC as MOSPEADA II OAV in Japan, atleast get Tatsunoko to actually 'do their job', with enough funds & garnering interest, Tatsunoko could just recommissioned new 26 ep of MOSPEADA II for runaway broadcast (like its cousin, BGC 2040). Get Shinji Aramaki & Hideki Kakinuma onboard, plus a compulsory Korean studio to do the animation (obviously DR Movie for RT connection) & some sponsors, wallahhh, new MOSPEADA series in the offering. After the series ended its run in Japan, HG could just re-edited 'em into new Robotech series! To top it off, while waiting for RTSC sequel, HG could do a pet project for fans by repackaging / readapting MOSPEADA Love Live Alive as a ROBOTECH Love Live Alive (Lancer's songs way better than RT Minmei) just for the sake that RT still kickin' .... I even peddled the idea several times at RT.com, but even Kev or any of the Yun / Yune didn't ever heeded it ... ahh well, its their franchise alright. Who am I to complaint, right? Atleast I still have Macross to laid back too, & Gundam as my new fixation. Any other RT fan would've gone over Doug Bendo or that pie guy level, I guess.
  22. What do Robotech fans wants? Hell, I don't know, LAM (godknowswhenitgonnaberealised) perhaps? Truth be told, I'm burnout on Robotech thingies .... goin' the way of Cpt JLS perhaps. But still, once a while, I'm gonna posted a few RT fanfics on Palladium Board that long overdue for RT-RPG gamers, kinda like uRRG historical essays & such. But that's it, I guess. On Macross though, I believed, after MacF movie version comes out, I decided to quit Macross too. Too much fanboyism over Macross ain't that good to one's financial status in the current economic woes. Over the years, becoming both Robotech & Macross franchise hardcore fans, kinda make me somewhat oblivious to the obvious grandaddy to all thing mecha-wise ... such as Gundam (I hated Gundams franchise with an appalling gusto ... never know why, perhaps because of my Macross-loving prejudicism) Now I'm going through all the 0079 - 0083 UC Gundam eras, & I'm loving every bit of it. Throw in MS IGLOO 1 & 2, I'm freaking hooked! Damn, so much wealth of story alone can be gleaned from 1 Year War alone. Hell yeah! Sure Sunrise milked the UC era dry, but it were worth it. Now that's what makes Gundam a TOWERING MECHA FRANCHISE from all other mecha series ... Evangelion (influential runaway hit) ... Macross (a steady, moderate franchise) ... amongst others. No longer me pictured myself as a self-centric egoistic guitar strumming prick in his transformable plane (yeah, BOMMMBBAAAAA ... & all that rot) .... now I pictured myself as a Zeon Zaku pilot crushing helpless Feddie infantries under Zaku's metallic foot. So, Robotech, final goodbye .... Macross, soon that'll be your turn .... Gundam, here I come!
  23. Hah! When RTSC came out, I had high hopes that HG & tatsunoko remarketed it as MOSPEADA II OAV in Japan ... who knows, it could even means brand new MOSPEADA II series .... but nope! I longed for a new Mospeada related series, just have to make do with Megazone & the BGC, its cousins!
  24. Of all the true potential wasted ... HG should just remarketed RTSC as MOSPEADA OAV in Japan with Tatsunoko just to gauge any interest of possible Mospeada revival. If Mospeada cousin, the cult classic BGC OAVs were successful enough to warrant a 20+ eps BGC 2040 revival, with enough budget, MOSPEADA II series (26 eps - standard run of the mill anime these days) is plausible. Tatsunoko & HG produced that thing, DR Movie in Korea do all the works, let 'em release the series in Japan & Asian market & runs its course, HG simply butch ... uhhh ... reedited the MOSPEADA II series into brand new RT series .... Tommy wasted much time & energy .... now its 2009, Macross Frontier finished its outstanding debut, & a movie is coming out. As for RT .... achhh, I'm not rooting that much ....
