  1. These are definitely last on my list to get, especially since I have the 1/48's with custom red and blue side covers and don't plan on getting rid of those anytime soon. All these flaws only make me desire the 1/60 VE-1 even more, which truly looks astounding.
  2. Nope, I agree. Totally valid point. They need to make these "combat-weathered and damaged" to make them worth purchasing.
  3. I bought and still have those, too. They have their issues, but they're still fun to mess around with, and once you can get them posed, they look nice on display. Also, keep in mind that at the time, those were the only cheap, transforming Valks until Toynami came out with theirs. I don't see these Revoltechs being much better than the Toynami ones. And, are they coming with armor? If not, one more reason to pass on them.
  4. I can't believe Kaiyodo thinks Macross fans want another small, transforming Valk (of the VF-1, to boot!). It looks pretty hideous. I can't see how this line will do well. I know it's been said before, but they really do need to wake up and focus on unproduced mecha and character figures. That would give them an edge over the competition. I would even army build if they released more enemy mecha, too. I picked up every Revoltech Macross figure so far, but I'm passing on these for sure.
  5. I would even imagine you would need to replace parts of the VF to accomodate the armor parts, too. Very weak. The wings don't even have missile hard points. I can even see having to replace the wings if they decided to include missiles. I really hate the route they went in designing the arms at the elbows and the backs of the knees look weak with the joint exposed like that. They should have incorporated the ribbed detail that the VF-1's have back there.
  6. One more reason to love my 1/48's even more in Battroid mode and more of a reason to just leave the Ver.2 1/60's in Fighter mode. And I'm tempted to clip off that damn stupid hook they designed to hold the backpack up in Battroid mode. It ruins the Fighter/Gerwalk modes for me.
  7. Ha! I was hoping someone would start a thread like this sooner or later. I was actually discussing this with my best friend, fellow MW member vf2ss, not too long ago. I used to dig watching Lifetime movies with one of my ex's. I love shmup music and will listen to it in my car or when I'm working on my display shelves. This one is really bad. I like some boy band songs, including NKOTB's. I love 80's Euro-Pop and alot of 80's music in general. Two of my favorite movies are Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer (both by Savage Steve Holland and starred John Cusack and Curtis Armstrong). I have a huge gashapon figure collection. I could go on, but I think I've already embarrassed myself enough.
  8. I have 5. They are very cool. Plus, how often do we get a Regult?! They need to bring out other Macross enemy mecha/characters besides this VF-1. Getting sick of VF-1 toys in this scale or similar scale. Why not milk the Regult mold and release the other variations.
  9. I had wanted to group together all my Max-type mecha together on a shelf at one point, but I decided to go with series themes instead. Right now, the Max Q Rau is displayed alongside Miria's Q Rau with my old 1/60 collection. I think once I pick up a VF-1S Max and the other Max 1/60's, I'll put the Q Rau with his other 1/60 mecha. Here's a pic of them. Yes, my shelf needs some major dusting.
  10. Man, what I would give for a Yamato VF-19S and the other variation of it!
  11. Did anyone get the CMs Legioss Drone? I was tempted to pick up one on eBay, but the seller never relisted it again.
  12. I couldn't agree with you more. After all these years, Yamato STILL hasn't released a true TV version VF-1S with Roy Focker pilot. All we have is the Toynami Masterpiece VF-1S so far. I guess I can use the pilot for that in a 1/60 VF-1S Roy.
  13. Yeah, not thrilled about it, but it's going to stay in the armored mode anyway.
  14. It might be the best representation so far, but it still could have been more anime-accurate. I mean what doesn't make sense to me, is how the first version has that cream colored piece around the neck, but it's noticeably absent on the new version. It looks better with it, especially in fighter mode. Check out the image I posted of the Hasegawa model kit box art about a couple pages or so back, and you'll see what I mean. This version is going to set me back twice as much as the original, but I don't feel like I'm getting twice my money. And the smaller tail wings really looks odd. I think Yamato could have come up with a better solution. Like I mentioned before, this one is a purchase down the road when prices cool down quite a bit. The VE-1, on the other hand, looks to have some major improvements over the original in every way.
  15. I'm not liking the smaller fins myself. I think they could have designed some hinge system, so that normal-sized fins extend out from hinges that pull out from the backpack and the hinges would fold up against the sides of the backpack so that it has the clearance it needs. If I do get one, the armor is staying on it for sure. The more I look at it, the more I can't seem to be wowed by it now. It doesn't offer much innovation over the original except for incorporating all the features that the V.2 body and armor parts have to offer, but that's expected. It's almost twice as much as the original, but it doesn't seem like you get double the bang for your buck as far as incorporating features that are unique to the VT-1. And there's still no plausible reason as to why they included the fixed-pose hands with this! As I mentioned before, it would have been more logical to include figures of Hikaru and Misa in their jumpsuits. Man, that alone would have increased their sales. I would have bought an extra one just to have them inside the cockpit. Yamato makes some very odd decisions. I don't feel so bad about holding onto 2 of the V.1 now. I keep one in fighter mode with the armor on, and the other in Gerwalk with the armor on and the arms tucked underneath like it is seen in the rings of Saturn battle. Hell, the V.1 seems to have a more accurate neck piece on the head. This new version should trump the old one in EVERY way, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Well, I'm sure the Elintseeker will be more of a definite buy for me. That one already has a better-looking arm for the radar dish, the dish isn't as high this time, the red stripes are painted on, it looks like you can actually remove the radar dish arm from the backpack, and no floppy backpack with the radar dish attached to it. All non-standard features that are exclusive to this version. I'm curious to see what else they can do to the arm attachments. I think the V.1's were pretty detailed, but maybe there's more detail they are adding to them.
  16. Hey guys, did Yamato have to reduce the size of the tailfins on this version and the first version so that the backpack sits lower on the back with the boosters on, or is that accurate to the lineart? I found one picture of lineart that shows the tailfins at normal size. I tried to insert the picture for the lineart also, but it won't attach. So here is the link: http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossdyrl/vt...t-1-fighter.gif
  17. Yeah, cheap is an understatement. I got an almost new set and the ADV Southern Cross set for $14 each and that was WITH shipping.
  18. I thought the head is supposed to have a collar piece around the neck like the V.1 does. You can see it here on the Hasegawa model kit art. I don't see it on the V.2.
  19. Yeah, that sure is purty, but my wallet already exploded. Hopefully, I can pick up some OT in the next few months to get this and the VE-1.
  20. Yeah, that was a great episode. I remember the gist of what Stan and Kyle had to say about the whole thing at the end of the episode. Great bands make money when fans pay to go see them perform. People are always going to find a way to get the music for free. I thought it's been revealed that musicians don't make alot of money from CD sales. Only the labels do. So, it was pretty overzealous of Metallica to take on Napster personally instead of letting the labels deal with it. I doubt they were really hurt financially from Napster. I mean if they were relying on record sales alone, why bother touring?
  21. Man, that VF-25S sure is tempting, but I'm sure I would be disappointed with the actual toy. I sure do hope Yamato gets the license someday. In the meantime, I'm sure Yamato will keep my wallet occupied with other Macross goodness.
  22. Yeah, that's an interesting point. If they wanted to throw in some extra parts, they should have included some arm armor like Bandai did with the 1/55 version. There isn't even a freakin' gunpod with it. What would have been awesome are optional Hikaru and Misa figures in their jumpsuits.
  23. Looks cool, but not mind-blowingly cool. I'm more interested in the VE-1, since I really like how they improved the look of the dish arm, and they added the red stripes that were missing on the V1. Still, I'll have to wait for some kind of sale on these. As cool as they are, I can't justify paying twice as much as the V1's for them.
  24. Hey Neova, good to have you back. Just check out jenius's website. He pretty much reviewed them all with comparisons, too, IIRC. http://www.anymoon.com/blog/
