  1. Wonder what are the possibilities Yamato will release a proper TV style VF-1S Roy Focker with Roy in his TV style flight suit?
  2. I never picked up the Combaticons in any form. Other than the colors being different in later versions, was there a problem with the molds? I was hoping that they would make a newer, updated Bruticus with larger vehicles and more poseability someday. The Technobots/Computron had to be my favorite of the gestalts, especially the one that transformed into that futuristic cycle. How many more gestalts were there in the Japanese tv shows that didn't make it to the US?
  3. To me, it just looks like a cheap toy like that. Like they were trying to save on plastic, so they went with that. Always wanted a Hound toy since I never had the original. Think I'd much rather have the original or the encore edition, actually.
  4. Just saw some pics of Classics Hound here, and I was so wanting to get it, but now I'm not so sure. It bugs me that they went with the foldout fists leaving the forearm exposed on the inner side like the Seekers. Wish the hands would have popped out or slid out so the forearms aren't exposed on one side like that.
  5. Ok. I see it now. Just found a pic of the CM's version with the bays open. Thanks!
  6. Man, I keep failing to see what are the top missile bays you guys keep talking about. Does this have to do with the missiles on the top? If so, where should the missile "bays" be?
  7. Awesome news! I hope we finally get TV VF-1A Max and Kakizaki with redesigned heads!!!
  8. Funny you should mention this. Remember that Tomy Macross trading figure set? The secret figure was the Monster which was completed from parts that came with each of the other trading figures. I have a couple of them. Not the best looking Monster, but still pretty cool.
  9. I was disappointed when I first started transforming and playing with these, but once I had them posed and on display with the stands (a must in Ride Armor mode), they look pretty cool. I won't be touching these again. I have Ley in the bike mode. I hope they make a Fuke version, but I'm dreading paying full price for this one. I managed to pick up the other 3 from a member here for less than $100.
  10. That would be awesome, but could you imagine how much that beast would cost?! Still, if done right, it would be a worthy purchase. What would you guys be willing to pay for a 1/60 Monster? I think $250 would be my max, but then the shipping on this would be heinous, too, so I would say $325 with shipping would be my max. That's quite a bit for a toy, but if Yamato really made it super-detailed with enough articulation and cool gimmicks like opening hatches and clear plastic parts, it would be the centerpiece of any Macross collection. I have to say that Yamato is really taking a step in the right direction by releasing the Destroids. Hopefully, it's a sign of more obscure mecha to be released. But, yeah, Scream Man, I feel your pain ... finding room to display more stuff is becoming a challenge. I'm either gonna have to pack all my anime pvc figures and put them in storage or start selling them, which I'd really hate to do.
  11. I think Yamato is in a position where they could already release unreleased Macross Valkyries and do well with this line. This is just lame that they are going with the VF-1, and more than likely, without super/strike parts initially. I was hoping Kaiyodo would take the lead and start pumping out other Macross mecha, too. The Regult is a good start. I wonder how well those have sold? I bought 2, and I would love to pick up at least 2 more. Back when Bandai and K&M released their Macross trading/gashapon figures a few years ago, I was so stoked by the fact that they had enemy mecha and the Tomahawk in those sets, that I bought extra sets just to be able to get more of the enemy mecha (Regults, Glaugs, Q Raus, and Tomahawks). The cool thing about Bandai's Macross Mission gashapon Regults is that you can have 3 variants. If you get the 2 Regults in the set, each one comes with either the horizontal missile launcher or the 2 vertical missile launchers like the one that comes with the Revoltech figure. You can remove the cannon plug and replace it with either of those missile launchers. The sculpt on them is very detailed, and they are painted very well - just lacking in markings.
  12. As eugimon mentioned, you should see if the biceps have the screw. The early releases didn't have the screw there. They started using screws with the VF-0A's, and I'm assuming the VF-0S with Ghost has them, too.
  13. Geez, and I thought dust was going to be my only enemy on these! Sucks that these are yellowing this soon. I have yet to see any yellowing on my 1/48's, but that's not to say they aren't yellowing. It could be that it's just not noticeable to me yet. Same goes for the reissue 1/55's I have. I haven't really scrutinized over them to tell, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. On the old 1/60's, the only one's that have yellowed that I've noticed are the VF-1A Hikaru and VF-1A CF (TRU version), as alot of other members have had the same problem. The odd thing is that I've had the wide release VF-1A CF out more, and it doesn't have any obvious yellowing. I don't have it in front of me right now, but it might not be as white as the TRU version. I even sold a new TRU CF that was sealed in the box and packed away in a box for awhile, and I could tell the missiles had yellowed. I wouldn't be surprised if the landing gear flaps and screw covers had yellowed underneath.
  14. Looking at those last few pics, I thought the missile covers on the Defender swiveled up, but they actually have to be removed. Wonder how this would work in the anime? Do they collapse or does a crew have to remove them?
  15. Yeah, I hope CM's is still continuing with their line of Macross figures. I put my Isamu figure with my Macross Plus collection the other day and I was thinking, "Man, Isamu needs a Guld figure standing right next to him now that the 1/60 YF-21 is out." So many possibilities for what figures they need to make, especially TV versions of flight suit figures and enemy characters. It would be interesting to see how big they would make the Zentraedi figures. I suppose it would be unrealistic to make them really huge, but a slightly larger scale would be nice.
  16. I know I'm totally in the minority here, but I wasn't really impressed with the VF-25 design, except for fighter mode. The heads and bodies look too insect-like for my tastes. I think Kawamori's previous Valk designs are great, but I'm not digging the VF-25, so I wasn't planning on buying any of the DX figures, especially at Yamato prices. I may pick up the 1/100's and leave those in fighter mode if they turn out good. For those that like the DX's, I have to say that Bandai definitely could have done better. Alot of you were really looking forward to these toys, and I think that for what Bandai is asking for them, they aren't worth it. Still, if you have to have a VF-25 toy, you won't have a choice. It would be nice if Yamato could get a chance at making a VF-25 toy someday, but that may never happen since Bandai has the license. With so much Macross stuff from Yamato and the Mospeada stuff from Beagle/Toynami coming out as it is, I could care less about these anyway.
  17. I've been trying to find lineart of the Beta with the shoulder missiles that has been said the MPC is missing, but I can't seem to find any. Anybody have any images of that?
  18. Haven't checked out this thread in a long time. I love super robots and SOC's, but the only ones I have are the SOC Great Mazinga (gold and black version) and SOC Grendizer (regular and gold and black versions) and the Spazer set for Grendizer. I also have some of the Revoltech super robots since those are more affordable and the poseability is pretty cool. Wish I could get more SOC's, but I just can't afford to get everything I want what with all the Yamato Macross stuff and other stuff I collect coming out with new stuff all the time. That Bandai Dragonar looks pretty awesome. Wasn't there 3 versions of it? Is the basic figure the same, but each one comes with different accessories?
  19. I've always loved that short scene in the Robotech intro where you see the blue Alpha and Beta combined cruising in the air. I don't mind the cockpit issue since I'll probably be leaving it in the combined mode anyway. Glad they included a stand for it. I'm just content it looks as solid as it does and that it finally came out. I know I would never be able to get the Lansay version since that thing was way beyond what I'd be willing to pay for it. I was tempted to get the CM's version if I found it at around $150 or so, but I'm glad I held out for the Toynami version, since I had already bought all the Toynami Alphas.
  20. From other pics I've seen of the FP versions, are they going to be complete figures, or are they just going to be the FP parts and the arms/legs that they attach to? I hope it's not the latter, since it seems like you're basically buying the figure except for the torso and head. That's lame.
  21. My biggest gripes with the SV-51 Ivanov is the hinge problem that was reported on many, I happened to get one of those. Another thing I don't like about it (actually all the SV-51's I'm assuming) are those large pods that sit on top of the wings. That purple painted object on them just looks crappy. Looks like this should have been a clear plastic piece, but Yamato got cheap and just painted it instead. They could have at least sculpted something there to better define the outline. I'll take a pic of one when I get the chance for those that may not know what I'm talking about.
  22. Has Kaiyodo slowed down the Revoltech line, period? I know the SF characters are coming out, but what else is coming down the pipeline? Kinda worried about the future of the Macross line. That line, the Patlabor figures, and some of the Fraulein and Super Robot figures were the ones I was collecting. I'm not much of an Eva fan, so I only picked up one, but they went overboard on that line. Wish they had put the same emphasis on the Macross line.
  23. It's up on eBay. I think it's out, but it seems to be a limited exclusive that is commanding a higher price.
  24. The head does look a little too high. When I look head-on at the VF-1A Hikaru, the head doesn't look as bad, for some reason. Maybe because it's slimmer? All the more reason to appreciate the 1/48 VF-1J a little more.
  25. At one point, I had more than one of each of the original 1/60's thinking I would display them in different modes, but then the 1/48 came out, and it was such an improvement, I decided to get rid of the extras except for the VF-1D, VE-1, and VT-1, especially when Yamato indicated they weren't going to release 1/48's of those. With the 1/48's, I was tempted to get rid of some, but I love the size and how they look in Battroid mode, and the new 1/60's aren't a huge leap above them. I have 2 of the Ver. 2 VF-1A Hikaru's with armor parts, but I'm planning on leaving these mostly in fighter mode, since I like the improvements that were made on the fighter mode (i.e. sculpted retracted intake covers and the higher arms). I'll give the extra armor parts to the upcoming VF-1S Hikaru. I also picked up the Super VF-1J Hikaru, which I'll also most likely leave in fighter mode and use the armor parts on a VF-1S Roy, that is, if they release a reissue, since I'm not taking a chance on the 1st release. I also don't like how the Ver. 2 1/60's fuselage sticks up past the base of the neck in Battroid mode. It just doesn't look right. That's why I'm mostly leaving these in fighter mode. Not to mention, I had picked up quite a few recasted side cover parts for my 1/48's, which I think totally completes them along with the neckpiece that fits behind the head. It's my biggest gripe with the new 1/60. I'm sure Yamato will include these parts with a GBP armor set, but it's a shame that we will have to buy the set just to get these parts. Hopefully, SILVERDRAGON or nightmareb4macross will be offering recasts. The fixed-pose hands are a welcome addition, but I wish the open hand had been more closed to grip the gunpod better. I don't think I'll ever use the detachable fuselage gimmick. It's like the 1/48 removeable nosecone, but then again, maybe Yamato was planning ahead for the 1/48 GBP armor with that gimmick. I guess both have their pluses and minuses, but I'm still keeping all my 1/48's for now.
