  1. Are you noticing any "scanlines" when you play God of War? I'm curious on your thoughts about it all.
  2. Nice! Glad to hear you're happy with it. I haven't made the plunge yet. I just might have to pick up God of War and Tekken once I finally get a PSP. It's just a matter of time and I'll have one.
  3. Apparently this PSP-3000 is having problems playing Macross Ace Frontier. Any idea if this a problem with all PSP-3000s?
  4. I don't know....at the time, I too was wow'd by Nicholson's performance. But as many of you have stated, the times have changed. That's probably why I'm not as impressed as I was. Max Jenius, I felt Ledger was pretty over-the-top and insane. Maybe it's just the screen writing, but the Joker kept upping the ante. There were a lot of sadistic jokes which I felt were over-the-top. The one guy getting hit by the bus...followed by the bus driver asking what happened to the rest of the guys...the pencil trick...the Joker telling Batman the wrong address in regards to Dawes and Dent...to list a few. Nicholson's Joker, to me, comes across more as a goofy jester than a sadistic jester. I guess if what I call goofy is what you consider over-the-top...then by all means Nicholson wins. Otherwise, I'd consider Ledger's Joker just as over-the-top as Nicholson's Joker.
  5. I was watching Batman the other day and I stopped half way through. I could not, for the likes of me, get myself to watch the rest. Like the rest of you...I feel Nicholson's Joker pales in comparison to Ledger's Joker. I think it was because of Ledger that I simply could not watch the rest of Batman. Batman now comes across to me as hokey in comparison to The Dark Knight. Does anyone else find Batman hard to watch after having seen The Dark Knight? ...I think I've seen The Dark Knight 4...5 more times since it came out on Blu-ray. ...Such a great movie.
  6. To me, Live feels more intuitive than the PSN does. Finding demos, movies, and games to download/buy hasn't been a problem for me. However, trying to group up with a friend, to play a game, is just ludicrous on the PSN. That's been my experience anyway. Moreover, there's a lot more content on Live than there is on the PSN. Overall, Live just feels more polished than the PSN. I will say this much though, I do prefer the PS3's dashboard over the 360's.
  7. I have the MGS4 Bundle; I grabbed it before it was too late. If it weren't for the PSX/PS2 backwards compatibility...I would have never gotten a PS3.
  8. You could always buy the mic/headset for it. As for MAF...I'm concerned about that too. Thanks for the heads-up! =)
  9. As for the whole no-games argument. It's not so much that there isn't any games...it's just that a lot of them, if not all of them, can be found on the 360. A lot of those that can be found on both systems seem to run better on the 360. Of all the friends I have here in Reno...only two others have a PS3; the rest all have a 360. There's just more incentive for me to pick up the 360 version of game, over the PS3 version, if I want to play online. Plus, it doesn't help that the PS3 has lost a lot of exclusive titles. Don't get me wrong guys...as a PSX/PS2/Blu-ray player I love it. As for the free online play...it'd be nicer if it were easier to play with friends. When it comes to the PS3 games though (excluding FFXIII and Killzone 2)...I think I'll pass. A lot of the people I know here in town feel the same way. But again, I digress.
  10. Well, my friend invited me to play R2 with him. I got the little pop up at the top right...the message I guess...saying I got an invite. This being my first experience online with the PS3, I figured it might be something like the 360 with the XBox Guide button. So I pressed it and I got the PS3 menu...didn't see any option to accept. So I scrolled over to the message box, found the message and all it said is that I have a friend who wants to play. It didn't give me the option to accept or anything. So exit out of that, I'm back in the game. I scrolled right using the RB1/RB2 button, found his name, hit x or whatever button it is, selected "join game" and was told that I didn't have permission to. So I tried hosting a game and invited him; he had the exact same problem. The only way we could play together was for him to host and for me to do a search for his name and vice versa. It's freakin' ridiculous. I just wish it were a little more straight forward like it is with the 360. I shouldn't have to research online how to accept invites to games. Anyway...I digress. [/frustrated rant]
  11. Well, everything I've read has been touting the graphics of R2...and I'm simply not that impressed in comparison to CoD4 and GoW 1 & 2. I have no doubts that the PS3 version of CoD4 looks exactly the same as the 360 version...which is why I used it as an example. As for not comparing apples to apples...even tossing out GoW and going with CoD4 vs R2...or even Halo 3 for that matter...the gameplay in CoD4/Halo 3 is that much better in my opinion. As for the multiplayer...that's great and all that R2 supports up to 60 players, but it sucks when you're trying to group/party up with friends; it simply ISN'T intuitive.
  12. Ruskii, I think I'm gonna get the 2000. You may want to read this. It seems the 3000 "adds a tinge of yellow to neutral colors, most noticeably white tones." That right there is enough for me to go with the 2000.
  13. What programs have you used on your PC to watch DVDs? I've never had any problems with WinDVD before. You may want to try WinDVD if you haven't already.
  14. As someone else mentioned earlier in this thread or the old thread...once you upgrade it's hard to stop upgrading. Ever since I got my HDTV I've been wanting to expand upon my HD experience. I soon wanted to watch actual HD content and so I bought a PS3 for Blu-ray. Now after watching these movies in Blu-ray...the TV speakers just aren't enough anymore. I've searched this thread and the old one and have come up empty handed with two dead links. My budget is pretty small but somewhat flexible. Would someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction for a HTIB? It'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  15. To be honest, I haven't been all too impressed with the PS3. I have two games for it: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance 2. I haven't played a whole lot of MGS4...but what I have played of R2...I haven't been all that impressed. The graphics aren't as good as GoW2 or CoD4 on my 360 (which is connected over component...unlike my PS3 via HDMI). The gameplay is alright...but again nothing like GoW and CoD. My first PSN experience was horrible; it was a pain in the ass to play one level of R2 with a friend. It simply isn't intuitive at all. A lot of the games on the PS3 are also on the 360...so there's less incentive for me to pick up another title for it. The only other titles I'd even consider picking up for the PS3 would be Final Fantasy XIII and Killzone 2. Even though FFXIII is coming to the 360...a part of me thinks that it may play a little better on the PS3 than on the 360. All in all, there are only two redeeming things going for the PS3 right now (in my opinion): the backwards compatibility and Blu-ray.
  16. . I dunno if anyone has linked this before, but it certainly is an interesting rendition of "Tenshi No Enogu."
  17. LOL @ this thread. You guys crack me up. Wouldn't you guys be angry though? Finally discovering what Macross is; seeing all it has to offer and knowing why it'll never be released domestically in the States.
  18. No problem. =) Please let us know what you think of the whole "scanline and interlacing problems!" Hopefully people are just blowing this out of proportion.
  19. The majority of the of the reviews I've seen out there, for Tekken: DR, have been positive. I've always liked the Tekken series...I would pick up that bandle if I were dead set on a 3000. As for the Batman game, it has been getting average ratings.
  20. Haha, here's hoping! Don't some places charge a restocking fee though? I'd rather not deal with that kind of hassel. I'm not a huge fan of dealing with lines and disgruntled employees either. I'd rather buy something once and be done with it. Thanks for your opinion though on the 3000 and 2000. If we could only get a few more opinions, that'd be great! Edit: Grammar
  21. No problem. It's starting to look that way. ...I'm not sure what I should most concerned about....duller gamut and noticeable ghosting...or more apparent scanlines and interlacing issues. :/ The color in pictures on the 3000 definitely look a lot better (more natural) than they do on the 2000.... It doesn't help either that I'm the indecisive type.
  22. How are The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Century Orguss, and The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross all apart of the same trilogy if they aren't even related to each other story wise? I understand that Bigwest produced them all...but why call it a trilogy if they aren't even related to each other? Are they are all trying to tell of how love and song conquers all...just told differently in each story?
  23. From what I've read and seen in pictures...the PSP 3000 does indeed have a wider color gamut and has less ghosting; however, scan lines are supposedly more apparent now and there's some interlacing problems. Moreover, the PSP 3000 (PSP Brite) has already been hacked. Ever since I bought a copy of Macross Ace Frontier I've been looking to buy a PSP. The only question I have now is, which model should I get? Do those of you with the 3000 notice the scan lines and interlacing problems? Should I try and find a PSP 2000 before it's too late? It pains me to have this game and not be able to play it.
  24. Haha, I wish there were more episodes (planned). ='(
