This may be a dumb question, but what do you use to scratch build parts?
  2. I would love this toy if the scale wasn't so freakin' small. If it was 1/60, even 1/72 scale, I'd be all in for this thing. But 1/100??? Too bad a great toy like this is so damn small.
  3. Put me down for both as well. Thanks.
  4. Man, am I too late for this??? I wanted to be confirmed for back in the old forums. Can I be put down for one still?
  5. If you decide to cast these sculpts, put me down for them. A Sara and Mao figure will be cool. I also like the Myun face. I'm interested in that as well. Great work there.
  6. Please put me down for one please. Thanks!!!
  7. I did, and it doesn't work very well. You want to use something that coold off to keep the plastic from pulling out when you push the hole through. Also, the pin method does give more control of the size and the way you want it to look. That's my experience and take on the whole bullet hole method. Oh, this is in regard to the soldering iron. Bad ideas unless it's a large scale toy.
  8. Ha!!! Now your thinking like a shopper. Sometimes it's not about the articulation, or the leds, or the transformation. Sometimes it's just about $$$ Money, Money, Money, Money, Money,,, MOOONEY!!!
  9. There's no right or wrong in this thread, just a matter of opinion. In that case, in makes it just that, an opinion. I love the 1/60s, 1/48s, 1/55s, and yes, the MPCs have their good points too. I did find the 1/60 very frustrating to change into different modes, and the MPC is a good toy to handle somewhat. Just go with what will suit your needs. If you could throw in a Bandai into the mix, I'd go with that. Those are always fun to play with and look neat on display. But that's just my opinion. I believe in the unbiased opinion. I just want to know real information, price, and product that will suit my needs. Not someone else's bad deal. Those can help, but wow, what a question to open this old can of worms. Let it go, guys, you gotta let it go!
  10. I would like to see a lower price too, based on the size of this scale, but to play devil's advocate here, it's much more articulated than the old MPCs. I don't see how HG would have control of the set prices of another independent company. Just doesn't happen, but I know Tommy does know about many of the gripes with the prices. I was lead to believe that a Beta would be next in line to the Alpha, especially with certain fittings that are on the Alpha. Cyc, any word on that?
  11. The truth is that Macross Plus was a U.S. release, and it wasn't in the original contracts for back in the day. They probably chose to sell it not to make much of a profit, but because even though Robotech and Macross branched out in far different universes, there still is a connection there. I wouldn't read too far into this. HG most likely wanted to make more available for unknowing fans. There's no licensing debate here or questions if they can do it or not. It's being distributed here in the states, and that gives any retail business the right to sell it.
  12. I think that glowing "pole" thing is the birdman. Maybe he finally got his head back.
  13. Yep, it's Robotech: Invasion. A game I'm very well versed in. It looks promising, and if you PM me with questions, I can answer many of them.
  14. Going on facts, not emotions here, the MPCs didn't do that well, because like some have said here, the market has been flooded with VF-1 variations for a long time. Great for us, but it does cause a backflow of production and businesses who jumped on the train to make these late ended up biting the bullet on profits. This will do well, just by virtue of the fact that this is a new marketed line that has not been tapped in ages it seems, and the demand so far has been quite good. To answer Mechafan's question, the joints are very tight, and the diecast hip joint is about as strong as could be. I can only hope they didn't change much of the version I played with.
  15. Let's see... 12 1/55s 6 1/55 MPCs 2 1/48s 4 1/60s 4 1/72 VF-11 4 1-72 VF-11 fastpacks 3 1/72 YF-21 (1Fastpack) 3 1/72 YF-19s (1 1st ed.) 2 JMs 1 VF-2SS 5 Bandai 1/65 VF-19s 3 Bandai 1-65 VF-17s ----------- 49 Valks total
  16. In response to your pondering of Hikaru picking up that gun? Simple, Hikaru Schwarzenegger.
  17. I agree with you, Mechaninac! I have mine on preorder, and as I have played with the first final production piece, it will be a great toy. Of course, we'll still have to see how the mass produced volumes will look. There shouldn't be too much difference. Yes, it's a joint venture with Toynami/HG and yes, I know many here hate HG for whatever reasons, but I hope it does very well so I can see a Beta toy in my lifetime.
  18. I'm pretty sure it will be successful. Finding about 15,000 fans of the series willing to pay $80 for this toy shouldn't be too difficult. Look at the number of registered peeps at RT.com. Price has been dealt with and we all question the large price for the item, but to argue whether or not it will be successful, that's another issue. Here's every supply/demand dilema. Do we sell cheap so a lot of people may buy, but think that the cheap price means cheap toy? Or do we sell higher so that people think it's a high quality item and worth the price? Toynami, not HG has set the price, and we can only guess how they came up with the price. I'm sure that the two scenarios of price to supply/demand has a medium, and that they tried to come up with that for this item. As always and as many have stated, the price will adjust according to the actual sales once the toy is released. I believe Toynami will make their money on this item, because they are the only ones making it. It's not a monopoly, they're just the only ones licensed to make specialty items of this kind. Monopolies are companies that have total control of a certain industry, not a specific item. Example, GTE for a long time had exclusive control over various areas here in L.A. years ago, and no other phone companies could come in. That's a monopoly when you control the industry, in that case, it was private and local communication. Our power lies in the fact that we can control what the end value of this item will be. Hold out if you want, otherwise, if your demand is very high, buy it when it comes out. Either way, my opinion, and it's just my opinion, is that it will do quite well when it's released. I did forget to mention that I am 29, and these products are aimed at fans and older collectors first, as I don't see 10 year-olds entering their credit card info for preorders.
  19. Any details about the toy itself? Will it be poseable? Helmet or no? Anybody have any pictures or is this something that is being talked about?
  20. The real reason for the delay is because they are making it a 1/1 scale. I know this for sure. So many people were complaining about size. I would've liked a 1/60 scale, but the super top secret hush hush info only tells me, that Yamato has already seen the 1/1 SDF-1 and is far ahead of valkyrie production. You know how these toy companies really excel in real life productions. I'm joining U.N. Spacy so I can be a valkyrie and defend the home frontier!!! BTW, I'm just kidding!!! For those of you who may question my validity.
  21. Haterist, wow, you got such a great deal on yours. Unfortunately, I bought two and had to pay $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 for mine, plus the shipping. I had to take out a small loan for the extra $1.
  22. I thought so, too. I'll end up getting both if the price is, of course, right. I'll use both of them like clothing for my DVDs, switching every month or so.
  23. These price arguments will go on forever. What I suggest is buying the first one if you can afford it or can find it cheaper. Than, if you like it enough, get the rest, if not, simple solution. The truth is that everyone is stating what the price should be and nobody has handled one of these yet. I have, and I don't think I still have the right to say what it's worth. We can all make assumptions and be under the impression that we know what we're talking about, but truth be, we just need to wait and see what type of product we're dealing with before we make judgements on price. For some, $80 is a lot, for others, it's not really much. It's all relative to each individual. Toynami probably did research to find the best price they'd be able to get for this toy. You can't say they're wrong for doing so either. If I had a business of producing toys and had an opportunity to make extra money, I would too. So does just about every company out there. Many try to push the profit margin so that they can make the best profit, and at the same time, keep the masses wanting it at that price. That's our nation and that's how many businesses are ran. I'd love to see a lower price like the rest of you, and if I can find it cheaper, I'll definitely go there. How bout you guys?
  24. Honestly, I think that $60 is reasonable for any of the MPCs, especially for the Vf series. However, if they were gonna charge $80 for any MPC, the Alphas are the ones to do it for. It's just a good quality toy. Now, for the Beta, it may end up being about $100, which it should be $80 if it's produced, but imagine the demand for that thing once it's close to being made? The first full production of these is gonna make any half-way fan buy one. Most people here bought the 1/48s at a high price, and no one really complained. I think many here are just skeptical because of the first releases of the VF MPCs. Once it's out, I think many will pay the hight prices if they can't find it cheaper than they want.
  25. I just recently purchased the Super O parts from MSLZ, and can't wait to get them. I must say that the work on the Elint you have is a good job. Do you use airbrush, or go with the cans?
