  1. This is such an interesting topic, because as all of us agree that a new Macross series would be great, we all can agree that it needs to be uncompomising in its presentation and delivery. As far as M7 is concerned, I actually enjoyed it. A little hard to swallow at the start, but it is a good plot. I would be very pissed if they decided to redo the old Macross series. I'm not gonna say what should or shouldn't be done, but there are a lot of options for Macross to do without compromising it. Not that HG is the shining example of this, but the new series they are working on seems to be promising. Their new series, Shadow Force, continues where the last episode of The New Gen. left off. This could give them a chance to redeem themselves and actually do something that isn't cut and spliced together. Macross can do a new series that continues from Macross 7. Why not? As far as toys, there's so much that hasn't been done yet. YF-19 FP, SV-51, YF-4, and all the M7 jets that never made any production. If Macross is dying down, it's expected. I'm a fan for life, and I was around during the lull. If you don't want it to die out, and want more Macross, voice it out. Action is always soooo much better than just accepting what you don't want.
  2. I say if you can do a costume right, and make it look realistic, go for it. What almost embarrasses me is seeing others in $.99 costumes they made the night before. Many of the costumes I've seen here in this thread look quite good. Hats off to those who made some of those costumes look so good.
  3. Dude, I know the pain of having a car stolen. At least it wasn't jacked. I had my car jacked right in front of me. Two guys jumped in my car and made me drive to an alley where they then proceeded to try and beat me. One guy I'm sure had to go to the hospital, as I broke his nose, arm, leg, and a few ribs and damaged his throat. the other guy gave me a good whomping, but he'll at least remember me. That's something that will get you pissed, but they caught those numbnuts and I got my car back minus all my shiznit that was in it. No Valks, but I had all my schoolbooks taken, my digital camera, pager (this was awhile back), some movie posters, and about .75 cents in pennies??? At least you have your wellness. I had a black eye, a broken rib, and broken knuckes. That doesn't count the countless scrapes, bruises, and sores from kicks. Yeah, it was bad, but I did hella good for two on one.
  4. Well, for us who actually know Macross like the back of our freakin' hand, the SDF is a no brainer. But like someone said, I've watched it with 2 girlfriends. One thought I was nuts for being 29 and watching "those damn animie or whatever you call them" cartoons, and the other had many questions and actually liked it. I had to explain the SDF "spaceship" and basically tell the whole story. At least she likes the series now and doesn't mind that I have 500 toys. So, Macross Zero, leaves a lot of questions to the newbs, but it actually made a new Macross fan. She actually owns a chunky monkey now. HEHEHE Hot Macross Fangirls rule. I'll post pics in another thread. Oh yeah, I forgot to say that M0 so far has been overall, a good series. Some lulls, in it, but overall, both my thumbs are up for it. 5 seems to have a lot of arial shots, so I'm guessing a lot of combat. Interesting. Hopefully it'll be an hour long or so.
  5. Maybe this was covered already in this post, but the h. stabs. would be taken care of in the vector thrust, and the little wings that extend down and out on the legs. I've been to that meeting at AX where those group of people are trying to create a real life mecha, and just to design that without transforming is hard enough. It comes down to metalurgy, and power output. The two sciences of metal and power just aren't where they could even conceive of a VF-1. Now, if an SDF-1 crashed and all the technology was given us, if there was no threat of 50 foot aliens, the battroid function would be useless. GERWALK and fighter would definitely be gravy. Would it REALLLLY be possible, not the way the anime portrays it.
  6. LOL, what a homo! Those glasses look like they have barbed wire on them. It's all about security. But don't you think they look alike? Basara and Sean Lennon both share the same views as well and if there was a red VF-19 around, I'm sure you'd see hime flying around in it... UNFORTUNATELY. BTW, I'm in no way a homophobe, I just call it as it is. There's the saying, "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, guess what? It must be a duck!"

    Macross PS2 Game

I have that flip-top and I use the DVD disk. It works beautifully. Not a single hitch. I bought mine about 8 months ago, or when the Macross game came out, so I may have the older boot disk. No probs here. I wish I had an answer for you, but all I can say is, use the DVD boot disk and check all connections that you made when you installed the flip top. Could it be you disconnected something? Wish I could help more, it's one hell of a game.
  8. M7, what else can be said about it. I was one who, for a time, bought everything Macross. I recently and finally got through the whole series of M7, and you can definitely tell it was "dummed down" to attract a younger audience. I'd say watching the first 10 or so episodes was hard. Very dull and I almost wanted to stop watching it. However, once it started getting to actual Macross related serious stuff, I found some of the underlying plot very interesting. If you get passed all the "gay" stuff that is annoying, there is a serious and good plot there. Seems to me like Basara is the Jar-Jar Binks of Macross. Actually he reminds me of John Lennon's son. The hippie singing one with the glasses. Check out the comparison.
  9. For some reason, I feel as though we're not gonna know when it comes out until about 2 weeks before, when we don't have enough money to buy it. I'll have to make another Vegas trip to make more money to buy an army of these bad boys.
  10. Nooooo!!! I'm not married anymore for the sole reason that it's much more fun to be single. Apparently my wife thought it first. But, in any case, that's why I also said she thought it a good idea too. It's just money management on a micro scale to buy the toys you want. Simply put, cut out lunch here and there, take sack lunches, and put that money in the new account, and a couple months later, BAM!!! Wow, that sounded like John Madden.
  11. See, that's why you need a secret account. One that you just put in a few dollars here and there. Over a few months, you realize that you have a few $100 in there. I did that when I was married and my wife thought it was a great idea. That way, I never worried about where toy money was coming from.
  12. Guys, this is too much. I see you guys getting all worked up over something I believe everyone agrees upon, but you are all wording it differently. The 1D is a multipurpose plane. You see Shin and Edgar move from an F-14 to a 0D, so that may tell you that it was designed for the dual cockpit pilot/navigator teams. Then there is the role of training. The Trainer call sign on the cockpit would be a good indication of the fact that the orange and brown indicate a trainer, not the Halloween squadron. It's all evident that it was used as a fighter as well, cause we see it for Max and Milia's marriage, and a CF 1D. So let it go, kill this subject PLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!!!
  13. That is definitely interesting. Killing in extremely quick ways, or being cooked by a microwave from the inside out slowly seems very interesting. I hope this is a technology we decide not to share.
  14. Some food for thought... The VF-1D is just a variant of the other valks with two seats. However, did anyone think that maybe just that one in the first episode happened to be a trainer? As in M0, it was probably set up for pilots who moved from the F-14 and dual seat fighters to the new Valks. What this means is that the colors may have distinguished that particular plane as a trainer, but the type may not have been specifically designed for training. Thus, the reason the "Trainer" call sign on the side of the cockpit. See, some people thought of it and know...
  15. MUST... GET... TO... WORK!!! Work is kicking my arse and I'm just hoping to get a few out there in time. Perhaps I can do it.
  16. OK, here's my view: If we were to apply this to today, and to how women really are, Hikaru would've gotten his ass kicked by Minmay. Hikaru was an A-hole, Misa was a backstabbing "B", and poor Minmay was the naive girl who got screwed over by everyone. Think about it! Kaifun used her to make money and exploit her, Hikaru liked her but was a homoe, and Misa was a trifullen biatch who can't find her own "G". Sorry for the gangster terminology, but these days, Minmay would've opened up a can of whoop-ass all over homo Hikaru, and Misa would not be looking as good as she did in the cartoon. The local Yakuza probably had "stock" invested in Minmay and in her work, and anyone who threatened her career would've been real sorry. Wow, never thought of all that.
  17. IMHO, I'd like to see a Sivil and Emilia. The Max an Milia would be cool as well, but definitely those first two.
  18. Chuey, they do, they do, man. Nice custom. I haven't gotten around to a custom yet for Kakizaki, but one of these days, I just might have to do it.
  19. That one, though, is actually very cute. I think I'll look into this one, being that I don't own any to begin with. Can anyone translate what they are saying?
  20. This is a great subject. I used to buy the little, but powerful chinese firecrackers and extra wick and string them far apart. Then I'd set up scenes where my Joes were tossing (or seemed to be) grenades. I'd have my Cobra men next to the firecrackers and a Joe or two near them. Systematically, you'd see dirt fly up along with a figure. Sometimes, an arm or leg would fly off, but usually the guys would be pelted with "shrapnel". As far as customizing mistakes, I took an old Invid Shock Trooper and tried to paint it more to the cartoon, and when I f'ed up, I used nail polish remover to fix it. The plastic got all soft and began to warp using just that. I was 12 and pissed to no end. Thank god for remembering mistakes. I still wish I had my Joes though. I miss them soo much
  21. Ahhh, the good ol' days of electronics engineering. V=IxR, or in this case, R=V/I. Just make sure your LED can handle 3 volts. If it's not rated to handle that much, then go with the resistor that will drop the voltage to the specification. Use the given formulas to find the resistance needed. Otherwise, buy an led that will match your power supply. I've done this for a few toys, and it's really easy. If you have questions, pm me, I'll help you out.
  22. I usually get them at local hobby shops. For my finishes, I apply the decals straight onto the paint, then just spray a couple layers of Model Master Dull coat onto the Tamiya paint. This usually works quite well and will seal the paint and decals at the same time so that they (decals) look painted on. But either way works. I do recommend using primer on the metal parts, and high sheen plastic. Plastic will always need a light sanding to create grip for the paint. Trust me, I've had my share of chipping and peeling.
  23. Rahxephon was a good OVA. Gundam Seed I have yet to watch, but it looks great as well. For Mac 0 to do so well, they're definitely doing something right. I just wish it didn't take so damn long to come out between releases. UGH!!!
  24. The Gundam Markers are basically paint markers, but they have a slim one that is either black or grey for panel lines. I've tried one (grey), and they aren't that great. They do work, but I believe you can get the same results using pencil. If you want to dull coat it afterward, you can seal the lead in it. Funny thing though, is the lead will actually darken, but it looks good though. Check the customs thread in this room and see my VF-1D custom. The panels that I did do, I did in pencil. They came out alright.
