I love the Regult I have, so put me down for this kit as well. Money is ready to go.

I got mine yesterday, just in time to take it out the box before I left for poker. Today was the day of transforming and examining it for any defects. I'm happy to report that although the wings are a bit on the fragile side, Yamato took great care into making it as solid as can be. I've managed to transform this thing twice, and I have no stress marks visible. the transformation process is about as complex as I imagine these macross valkyries will ever get (barring the Koenig Monster). However, out of a scale of 1-10, I give it an 8.75. The design is awesome, and it handles decently in my hands. If there's a 2nd issue (reissue), I'll get one of those as well, as this one is great, the reissue will only be sweeter. The box isn't that big, but the toy is huge. I'm excited about this purchase.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Capturing an anime into live action just doesn't seem to hit the same way, nor do the characters ever fit right. I've always been against a live action movie, and always thought that money should be used to produce more anime. However, I'm interested in seeing how this pans out. A small fanbase of a series that isn't a household name like Transformers, big money into the production. Last I heard, HG met with Hollywood producers about a year ago maybe to talk about the possibilities of a live action, so it's been in the air for sometime. They know that they won't have a highly successful show without the Macross name on it. It's obvious in the toys that sell, and the number of DVDs one series sells over the others. I hope it does well, but my gut instincts tell me that it may bomb at the box office. Especially if it's done half-assed. Just WB having the rights makes it somewhat better, and the fact that Tommy, Steve, or Kevin's names haven't been mentioned yet in this project leave more promise to it. they really need to leave this to the professionals to do this right. A live action anime can be a double edged sword for HG. It can swing and do wonders for them, or come back, and make the whole franchise worthless. -
NightmareB4Macross, you have a pic of me that I want for my Avatar with the Hikaru jacket on. Do you still have it? I forgot to mention, thanks to the vendors too, for bringing in the goods to buy. Of course, what is a con if you can't buy anything? I took the prize I won for second place in poker, sold it, and it paid for my $100 Minmay Doll. Last I checked, she didn't have kung-fu grip, so I couldn't classify her as an action figure. Oh well, first doll I guess, but one well worth it.

Ohhhh, yeah!!! Megan Fox!!! Great Con this year, and so glad I got in on the poker tourney this year. Finally, a double knock-out!!! Great displays, and great shows of mods, customs, and all that. Thanks Bee, for a kickass con. I'm glad I finally got a tee shirt. i missed the last two years ones. Nick, great design. A big thanks to Mari for putting together a very cool little concert. I really enjoyed that, and hearing all the old and new stuff. Also, a big thanks for signing my "doll" and the CD. Maybe next time, I can get time in, to practice playing so that I can accompany her on guitar. Good times people, everyone helped make this happen. Lots of fun, prizes, food, and bonding. Das Cul'cha!

Man oh man, OK, I want one fo sho'!!! I'll buy one.

Anasazi Decals now available through Robographics
Jasonc replied to Anasazi37's topic in The Workshop!
Did Nightstalker ever get back to doing decals. I think it's a good thing if someone takes awhile for stuff like this. it means you're getting good stuff, not crap. And to those that complained, good apeface move!!! N.S., Anasazi, please let us know if either of you are still doing any of these. I need to buy a lot of decals, and could use some help. If not, could either one of you pm me about making my own? I'm getting a high end laser jet, and wouldn't mind making some of these for People, but I would need info on paper supplies to work with a laser jet, and the spray coats that work best and methods. -
Intakes may be needed for some sort of cooling of a reactor type engine. However, I don't think air is enough to cool a reactor. More technology would be needed to cool it than actually make the engine itself.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That last pic of the battroid looks a lot like the Nirvash in Eureka 7. Does it come with an air board shield and fold booster backpack? -
So, I just contact them, and tell them that I want to order replacement arms for the VF-0A and VF-0S that I have? Do they invoice me afterward?
-
Anybody got a link for HLJ.com on the replacement parts? I can't find them on HLJ's website.
-
cool, thanks for the info. I'm still in for one of the Ver. 2.0 I need to build up ver. 1. Man, so much work, so little time.
-
That's the fugliest POS I've seen. It's so thin, he must've made it out of cardboard.
-
LOL, we're all in the same boat as far as this is concerned... KEEP IT REAL!!! KEEP IT JAPANESE!!!
-
Did the Regult V1.0 come with decals and/or, did anyone make decals for it?
-
They'd be smart to not package it the same. I am so tired of paying up the wazoo for a stupid box with Tommy Yune art on it. I'd rather have a good quality toy. If Aoshima makes the better joints and leg connectors, I'm dumping all my Alphas for those. I think Toynami's reputation for transformable toys has all but shattered. I'll definitely wait on the word back on the Aoshima Legioss fighters, but for now, at least Aoshima has some fixes and some word on the production of the Beta/Tread. I look forward to this looking right.
-
From what it seems, Toynami needed a partner on this to help keep cost low. Someone at HG told me (Tommy Yune) back when it was just Toynami's baby that "if it's going to come out, the proble we are having is that it's going to cost upward of $200-250. That being said, it seems like Toynami couldn't get it done without getting a partner in it. Aoshima's stake is that they get exclusive rights to sell in Japan, they get the mold to utilize, and what else is good from the blog on rt.com, is that Aoshima will fix some of the problems that the Beta prototype may have had, along with the Alpha problems. So, Aoshima and Toynami are teaming together to make this Beta/Tread. One will color match in the domestic market, and one will color match the Legioss that will be distributed in the Japanese market. See, now I want the Aoshima ones, they're gonna be built better.
-
And out of the rubble, I revive this semi-old thread. I picked up this article today and thought it was quite interesting. Apparently, the lackeys at HG are now making announcements of the official Beta release, of course with no dates given on it. So, does that mean early next year, or 22 years like what they did with their part 2? http://sdf5x.blogspot.com/ Craptastic, I hope it is display worthy.

Airbrushing set ups, how do you have yours set up?
Jasonc replied to Dax415's topic in The Workshop!
The best way to do it is get a medium size box and put the opening side on the side. Make sure the box is completely sealed, and and extend the upper part of the box. This will trap the upper mist of dried paint from your box. you may also need to use a small fan to keep the dried paint into the box, and make sure the room is well ventilated. that's my suggestion, but play with it with water, and see how the fumes and spray blow and react. that's the safest, best way to work in a small space without spending a fortune. -
Clarify here: OK, that's your fine detailed analysis, but then you back track. OK, so it is better than the 1/72 YF-19??? Then, So, you really aren't so sure about liking the 1/72. As for comparing the two, people compare them because they are the same toy. Why do people compare the 1/60 yamato VF-1s to the 1/48s? Because again, it's the same damn toy, just different scale. Then, if you compare different toys, from different manufacturers, you get a small sample that actually compares. In that case, maybe you can compare Bandai, Toynami, and Yamato. I personally think that Yamato's toys are about as high up their as other manufacturers. For the detail, actual product, and raw materials, it's a good product. Bandai has solid toys, but look at the detail... not even close. For product stability, compare to Toynami, better QC than Toynami. Overall, I'm not saying you should not complain. You have every right to whine and cry all you want. Just noting where your words seem to be backtracking, so if you are trying to make a point, make it a little more factual, not based all on your emotions. As a side note, I've never had a single problem with any Yamato toy I've ever owned, except paint chiping on a few diecast parts. It's to be expected though. Also good news on the fixes. I'll be getting this a little later, as I'll be tying the knot soon. But Looks like my YF-19 will have a slightly different brother.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This is not necessarily the case. How many times have you seen someone see or experience something they know nothing of, and try to attach it to something they may be only fairly accustomed to, or may only have heard about? That's what I got from watching that scene in SDF Macross. They heard of PC, thought of it as this one true almighty power, and when they saw that movie, their first reaction was to judge it as the almighty power they were maybe told about. Does anyone know about which phase of work they are on in regards to the new show? -
Toynami news on their Beta and 1/100 Fast Packs
Jasonc replied to protostar8's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Perhaps it's just me, but the new sculpt of the Beta looks less detailed, and kinda awkward with the cockpit being the way it is. Is it supposed to look that big? Also, it's probably just the angle, but the Toynami Beta looks like it doesn't have any joints or anything. I hope they didn't decide on a non-transforming Beta. That was one of their options for awhile, as George over there told me. Coin toss!!!! -
New parts = Happy Jasonc for being able to transform his 0A and hopefully 0S. Hopefully the info is good.

perfect match:Wha is the best orange to match with the VF1D?
Jasonc replied to JEXPRIME's topic in The Workshop!
For the VF-1D, the Tamiya Orange is perfect. It's not so "racey", and when put under a matte or dull coat, looks more like what an orange would look like when exposed to the outside and to air. One of these days, I'll get my camera charged, and take pics of my custom VF-1D. People do seem to like it, at least somewhat. -

Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
C'mon man, that's the new Overtechnology given to humans fromt he Protocultures! You mean to tell me that you don't want to see guys walking around with gun arms and fairies all around? (Of course I'm joking)
