I'd pick up another VF-4 at the higher price if they threw in a stand at least.

Wasn't Kawamori the one who told Yamato that the Kai should have a glossy finish? Gloss looks fine on a civilian aircraft likely Basara's but that meant all the subsequent VF-19s got glossy finishes. Which I suppose is alright considering how, erm, cartoonish they look.

"If it looks like a YF-19, walks like a YF-19, quacks like a YF-19..." I don't personally care that the VF-19Adv differs from the YF-19 and its lineart, but comparisons are going to be made, whether one likes it or not. Long-winded internet rants aren't going to stop that. Even if Arcadia didn't get Kawamori's stamp of approval... so what? His stamp doesn't magically make a shitty toy into a great one, or lack of a stamp makes a good toy into a crappy one.
-
Kawamori's stamp of approval simply means that the check cleared.

Despite it's many flaws, the old Yamato YF-19 was a great transforming toy... until parts started exploding. Mine is stashed away somewhere, out of sight. But I'm not comparing Bandai's current offerings to a 10 year old toy from a now defunct company. I'm comparing it to what's available now.
-
Still waiting for Arcadia to release a VF-11 MAXL.
-
I for one never doubted that Bandai had the ability and the resources to make great valkyrie toys. I did however doubt that Bandai would want to put in the investment needed to make great toys. Whether through carelessness or incompetence, their early Frontier toys were pieces of sh**. I'm in agreement that they finally got their act together in the renewal era. The VF-25 and YF-30 are still my favorite Bandai valkyries for being both beautiful and a pleasure to handle & transform. That second part does not apply to the VF-19.

You're my hero! (I couldn't find an image of virtual Minmay kissing virtual Hikaru after Max defeats Miria in the arcade.)

1/48+fp's, 1/60+fp's, 1/72, 1/2k, 1/3k,1/100 and now 1/144

That looks so cool. Guess I'll crack and invest in some Yeti stands after all. -
Trying to attach all the super parts and get everything back together into fighter mode made me want to hurl the Bandai against the wall. Also, the floating wing roots with super parts attached are a huge eyesore.
-
So tempted to get a second one... Only $130! That's like $70 less than what I paid for my first 29 (damn the high yen back then).

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
Lolicon replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Actually purchased this guy some time ago, but when I initially got him, I thought he looked terrible and kept him boxed up. Turns out Robocop only looks good when properly illuminated, like in the movie. Out of the box, he looks flat and crappy, like this: -
I have 2 from Arcadia and 3 from Bandai. Not because Bandai's version is necessarily better, but because Arcadia's high price kept me from getting a third, and I wanted to display the Bandai version with and without super parts in different modes. Just because I bought 50% more units from Bandai does not make theirs 50% better.

What makes the Macross toy line hold their value so well?
Lolicon replied to Shermantank's topic in Toys
I'd skip the Frontier movies, unless you really must see Alto use the YF-29 to its lowest potential. -
Ah but Klan pilots the 25G after Michael... falls ill and has to leave the show. Forever.

And they often have fewer parts since parts are molded whole, instead of having left and right pieces. For example, if this was a plastic kit those long frontal tubes would be two halves that you'd have to glue together then putty and sand out the seams. The price tag is the only thing that's stopping me (though not unusual for a resin kit).
-
If we're going by sales alone, then Michael Bay movies are masterpieces. That's a misleading argument anyway as both toys varied greatly in price and we don't know what the production numbers were.

Love the pic of the Zentradi almost getting kicked right in the mean bean machine by a VF-1.

Wow! I've bothered with resin kits before, but I may give this one a shot. Looks pretty sweet!

Yup 25G came with micro Klan, who can be placed in the pilot seat. And I am eternally disappointed that the RVF did not come with a Nanase figure in her school uniform.
