Repeatedly paying for something in full and then being charged extra at the last minute before you're allowed to get your item is either incompetence or an intentional (and sleazy) business tactic. I decided to be generous and called it the former.

Man, the VF-0S looks 1000x better with decals applied. It'll look even better once you've coated it, so it hides the decal edges and makes the overall finish uniform.

What's the deal with that? I had a couple of items that I paid for and had in PW for nearly 60 days. I assumed that once I paid for it, HLJ set them aside along with all my other PW items, so I found it perplexing. But they were for some Japanese snacks, so it was no big deal for me. Now if they had told me a valkyrie I had bought and paid for was out of stock once I asked for shipping, I'd have been super pissed.

If they can't accurately calculate shipping on preorders, then they shouldn't charge for shipping until the item is in stock and ready to ship. It just makes you look incompetent when you have to ask for additional shipping like that, especially when it's not a one-off incident.

As someone who's had to scrounge for decals and print his own, I love that the premium finish has all its markings printed on. However, the only two releases so far are duplicates for me, so they're somewhat superfluous for me. For a new collector who doesn't yet have Hikaru or Roy, I would recommend the premium finish over the standard release. I'm looking forward to the premium finish version of Max and Miria as I never had those to begin with. And the premium finish SDF-1 looks fantastic.

The SDF-1 also has a pretty simple transformation compared to any valkyrie.

I have many rainbow canopies, and they're all fine. However, problems with the finish are real and just applying it at the factory was enough of a problem for Yamato to discontinue them altogether. I wish they would bring it back for the premium finish versions at least.

Tampo scraping has never really been an issue for me, Yamato, Arcadia, or Bandai. They're way more durable than actual decals. Tampo printing is tampo printing. Errors occur and they can be damaged. It's not like Bandai uses some kind of super strong indestructible tampo printing while Arcadia's is drawn on in crayon.

Oh my god I'm in for a premium finish SDF-1, price be damned! I was already thinking of getting one for the other mode, and that cinched it!
