Oh, and if aircraft come so quick and easy, why is the UN Spacy still using a 30+ year old fighter design? Even the federation in Gundam replaced their cannon fodder mobile suits faster than that. Like I said, makes zero sense from a narrative standpoint. But at least we'll get a new toy!

That's a pretty long-winded rant when I was simply referring to the ridiculousness from a narrative standpoint. You know, the part that actually made Delta suck so hard? Frontier pulled the same shenanigans with the YF-29. And the Frontier movies sucked too. I could care less about how Macross "mirrors the Cold War" or some other such non-explanation for the sucking.

Hayate gets a state-of-the-art cutting edge YF-33 to replace his... state-of-the-art cutting edge VF-31? Technology sure is fast and cheap in the future! And here we are in the real world, 1.5 trillion dollars later with a barely air-worthy F-35.

That would cover most valkyries these days. I'd say really hard to find, lots of collectors want it, and commands a high price as a result of the first two criteria. And of course there's a subjective factor too. Pretty vague, I must say. The Kai is currently not too hard to find, but it only came out just over a week ago. I'd consider the Yamato Super Ostrich a holy grail for many. Max & Miria and the VF-4 were too, until Arcadia reissued them. The Kai certainly is looking like it might be grail item a year from now. But let's see how many more come out with the lottery sales. I'd like a second one.

Some quick pics before I set up the super parts. Box has a 10th anniversary Tamashii Nations sleeve. Aside from the knight emblem and extra red and black striping, she's identical to the first 31J. Still the same glittery canopy too. No Freyja even though she did actually ride in this thing... (Actually I've had a long day so I'm going to take a nap first. )

You guys tell me if the blues are different and, if so, which one is the Kai. My knowledge of which is which colors my perception (no pun intended). No guesses, please. Only answer if you're 100% certain based on the shade of blue. Pic taken with both wings the same distance from the camera and the same light source.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to dismantle. There's 4 screws you can remove, and everything comes apart pretty easily after that. It's just the legs and forward fuselage that appeared to be glued shut. PM me with your email and I'll send the marking files your way. Thanks! I couldn't find any good reference files for the VF-2SS markings, so I'm using the VF-1 as a starting point and just making it up as I go along. Looking forward to seeing your VF-2SS! I think I may go with your suggestion of flat coating the SAP so they don't look like such cheap green plastic. HLJ actually has a bunch of the HiQ decals on sale so I picked up a few extra sheets. Thanks, sir. I haven't had any issues with clear coat smudging, but I also like to let it cure for at least 48 hours before handling it. But I do happen to have soft white gloves...

That's how they get ya. Or you could plunder the Freyja figure from your 31J and sell it minus Freyja. I'm sure there are peeps out there who could care less about the secondary figure.

If you need a computer to be able to tell if the blue is different or not, then for all practical purposes it's the same shade of blue. They look the same to me but I'll wait till I have it in hand to decide.

Of course it'll still be an SV-51 with more or less the same size, shape, transformation, etc. But if you can't tell the difference between a Yamato VF-0 and an Arcadia VF-0, even at a glance, then I recommend some new glasses. They're not even the same color.

I'll see for myself when mine arrives, but never underestimate the human brain's ability to fool you by screwing with your perception based on surrounding visual cues. I posted this awhile back, but it doesn't hurt to post again. Note that squares A and B are the exact same shade of grey and its your brain screwing with you.

It'll be completely retooled from the ground up. The old SV-51 is from the same era as the 1/48 VF-1 and I don't think Arcadia wants to use such an ancient mold. I wouldn't be surprised if they were lost or broken. I believe the YF-21 was the last of that generation of molds. They're pretty easy to spot. The molding is not as sharp and the panel lines are way less fine than what we've gotten in recent years.

How about a head rest for the pilot seat too? All those whiplash settlements really eat into the budget.

I doubt Bandai will go all out and give us an all new mold. At best we'll get a few tweaks a la the "renewal" VF-27. No coincidence that it was the weakest of the renewal line. I'll get one just for completionist's sake. Now a YF-21 sounds more interesting because Bandai has no prior mold to repaint.

It simultaneously manages to look better and worse than the old 1/48 Yamato version. It's amazing.
