    What's on deck?

unfortunatelly for us I´ll have to agree with you on all that G. It seems to me Yamato is irrevocably taking a one way route in regards to macross and that is the route of forsaking all macross projects. It´s just a shame but it seems they´d rather prefer to play the role of the stupid non-consumer-friendly company and just neglect all the potential a Macross Zero line could bring to the financial interest. To me that´s just plain dumb. What are we gonna do once Yamato puts and end to this fanboy dream ? buy MPcs ? Really , how can they even dream of succeeding in the toy market ( more importantly , the japanese market where gundam is king ) if the drop Macrosss off their lines of products ? Macross is without a doubt their biggest asset and without it we could easily enough especulate their bankruptcy , seriously , their other toys aren´t as demanded nor as varied as macross. a shame really , for us and them.

    What's on deck?

mmm...well , all I´m hoping for is that the Koenig monster is some sort of sign of what´s to come , hopefully they´ll expand the VFX-2 line to more valks. What about some Vf-5000s or Full Armored VF-11 or the VF-22. ? We already have 2 toys in the VF-X-2 line. mmm , oh and loads of Macross Zero toys

    What's on deck?

    2 Guld chewed pilot figures
  4. I;m interest to the whole story, please tell us about it! hahahaha at last , I was wondering when were you going to let it all out. I too would be pissed off big time if I had got the same treatment from them after all the confidence built up in all the years Macrossworld has singlehanded financed Yamato. Don´t worry mate , don´t forget that there´s a lot of people here at MW that appreciates your efforts from the good old days. really , if it hadn´t been for us Yamato would have never grown as a company as it is today , with a variety of licences and all. So far I´m really really interested in the Monster , it´s been one of my fav valks of all time , paint job looks nice and decent so far , one thing I´m glad this time around is that we´re actually looking at a production model , so WYSIWYG , and what I see is HELLA GOOD. good to see the knees actually bend and the crotch piece is more acurate than before. I hope I can save enough to buy 1 or 2 by my birthday in February. Just imagine what awesome custom this toy will enable us to do ...me thinks of Millia or Skull squadron customs
  5. WOooohhooo yes it is thank you very very much can´t figure out how you actually found/remembered it but thanks. cheers
  6. you also have to take into account that even though the Zentradi had not yet appeared the competition between the Anti-UN and the UN had already begun so if any of them had valkyries the other couldn´t just stay back and use conventional armament. that´s why there are valks in M0 even though SW1 had not yet begun.
  7. Sorry if this is not the most appropiate section to ask this kind of favours but it´s the only place i thought I would find an answer. Well some time ago (actually it was too long ago) someone posted a link to a paintBBS site featuring only mechas fanwork , it was similar to 4chan but I wnt there and it´s definetively not the same , ran a search in google and came up with 1000s of different site , I looked around a bit till I tired. I now it´s kind of a very useless description but that´s all I can remember. It was in japanese , that I´m sure , and it had some wacky works featuring custom Gundam fanworks like Sailor Gundam and things like that , it was truly nice.
  8. JAJAJAJAJA priceless Guess he wanted to be prepared beforehand in case the ¨urge¨ came just as he is playing with his valks.
  9. Mmm you´re joking right ? no way this is your first airbrush job , it´s to damn GOOD to be true Really , it´s really really nice , you give me hopes that I may be able to pull off a custom someday , muchas gracias
  10. If only we could get a Macross game like that (not that the PS2 game is bad but it kinda lacks some features). It would be really nice to have something like VF-X-3 or a Macross Zero game. PS: mmmm Astray , I think i´ll check that game out
  11. have you got the rest of the artivcle , it looks interesting. Might as well build my own mecha hahaha
  12. we're not being blinded. its an anime. we're appreciating their effort that they put into the designs. its the same as mechs. some ppl like one mech over another. all designs. we're just discussing designs that are less significant. yeah , I understand , that´s why I said we should criticize based on design quality not the nostalgic value. Anything new will have a much higher chance of being more aesthetically pleasant than older designs , with some rather impressive exceptions of course.
  13. Ok , I think one things is to just love the original series and a whole other thing is to to let that passion blind us when talking about design value. That´s just my opinion though. Anyway , for me it would be like this : 1- Macross Zero Anti-UN helmets 2- Macross Zero VF-0 helmets 3- VF-X2 Ravens Helmet 4- VF-X helmet 5- DYRL helmet 6- M+ Isamu´s helmet 7- SDF VF-1 helmet M7 VF-11 helmets are particularly ugly , along with the Varuta fighters helmets .
  14. meh ! All this nostalgic crap about wanting a remake is both lame and unecessary IMO. Without new stuff like Zero Macross will be dead in no time ( if it ain´t dead already ) besides , if you all want CG animated VF-1s there´s no problem in including them into a new series ( set circa M+ for example)
  15. What I understood of M0 is this: . At least Sara and Mao were direct descendants of the protoculture. . After being used to engineer human life on Earth the AFOS was left there to oversee the human experiment and collect information on whether it was a success or a failure ( se the conversation between Hasford or Aries ). .The VF-0 was a testbead for future fighters afterall (the VF-1 was never available since it was still under production and the VF-0 kept showing new add-ons so it´s safe to assume it was a newer/paralel proyect to prolong the VF development before the Zentradis came or the unification wars extended in the future ) . Shin showed the same ability as Sara when they sang in the forest so Mao´s comments make sense somehow , why ? maybe it only had to do with Shin opening his heart , that would mean all humans are designed with that ability ( would be natural since we were engineered by the protoculture to surpass Zentradis and protodevilns by having emotions ) . The UN and Anti-UN were just as bad as the other , no surprise they kept the events screts for 50 years. . Mao knowingly activated the AFOS to proyect what was happening inside the Anti-Un sub so it´s not surprising she was able to project herself inside Shin´s VF-0 by using the AFOS artifact. . The floating carriers were explained within the OVA ( I kinda had a flashback to Macross Plus when the Macross started to levitate and the same kind of engines shown in the Asuka were show being activated ...or was it the TV series , don´t remember ) . When looking at the events on M0 and those in the TV series it kinda comes to my mind that none of them are really a coincidence , the fall of the ASS-1 on earth , the the PCS signal of the AFOS and the coming of the Zentradi to this exact spot of the galaxy .... it seems to me that the protoculture kinda plannned all this beforehand as to produce and encounter between the Zentradis and the humans , though . after the veredict made by the AFOS it seems we weren´t exactly a good influence to the Zentrans so maybe it couldn´t deliver its observations to the remaining protoculture so the meeting happened anyway.
  16. AWESOME ! I finnaly got to watch the subbed version just now and it makes a hell lot of more sense than guessing what they say. Now that I could understand what Shin explained in the begining of the episode I actually feel satisfied , I now see that there was no reason to waste valuable time explaining something that turned out to be somewhat irrelevant for the story. The role of the UN spacy and the Anti-UN are fledged out more gracefully. After watching it for the 3rd time I kinda feel good about how M0 is able to limit itself to its own story. Also , the scene with the AFOS activating the reactors and levitating the Asuka actually makes sense with the subs , and the subtle reference to the Zentradi invation by Hasford is nice ¨the world being burn to ashes¨ All in all I´ll give M0 a 8.8/10 , I think the greatest merit about it is that it unfies more closely all of the other Macross series ( with the exception of M+ which doesn´t really add much to the universe) , the references to the protoculture in the TV series are now more understandable ( the reaction of the Zentradis to humans ) and M7 critical data (forget the story , just focus on the informaton given)
  17. Woooohooo , finally ! hoping I get it soon so I can post a full fledged review before anyone else.
  18. simple, easy and pretty much explainable. see... Sharon-AI has a sophisticated I/O system, which can send and receive communications back and forth on any Comm-Net equipped vehicles. This includes the YF-19. Sharon-AI hacked the Macross Communication-Net in which the YF-19 (and prolly all other UN-Spacy military-vehicles as well) are tapped into. The intrusion into the YF-19 was even animated in Yang's scene. Remember that Myung can listen to the talk between Isamu and Guld because Sharon allowed it. But Myung was blocked from input, i.e. talking to them. As for Myung's feelings, it was programmed into Sharon to emit and evoke. Remember, Myung stated before that she's not just the producer of Sharon. All the contraptions and brain-scan activities and stuff being done before and during the concert all held testament to that. But Sharon-AI got installed a rogue self-preservation and learning AI-program. With all that, Sharon was not entirely perfect since in Sharon's arrogance and overconfidence, Myung's singing-voice simply got through. Allowed or not, it doesn't matter. Her singing got thru to Isamu for the few seconds that is enuff to disrupt the hynopsis. Even then it wasn't enuff, as Isamu still had to smashed his head on the hud to totally break the hynopsis. that´s just making an account of the events on the OVA/Movie not an explanation as to HOW did her feelings got through to Sharon if said feelings couldn´t be saved as data , remember Myung wasn´t connected to Sharon when they instaled the AI chip , so how could Sharon absorb Myungs feelings without being able to save them in her bank memory or without being connected to Myungs mind? And as you said yourself , Sharon blocked communications between the hall room where Myung was and the YF-19 so that Myung could only listen and not speak to them , so how did her singing got through ? Back to topic , the only nitpicking I would have with Macross Zero is that to some degree the producers wasted an awesome history by not being able to plan the flow of events more carefuly beforehand , it´s like they had made the storyboards 15mins before going into production of each single episode , Eps. 2-4 could´ve been used more wisely. Neverthelles , this wasn´t a dissapointing series at all , in fact it´s a close 2nd place with M+.
  19. Because we already know that pleasing images, and images not-so-pleasing, have a noticable effect on the brainwaves and other biological signs of people. We also know that music that is pleasing to the ear can also affect brainwaves, not to mention the mood of the listener. We also know that hypnotism, while not "scientific" in nature, can and does work and its primary medium is sound. While its application in Macross Plus is definitily the realm of science fiction, it's not too much of leap of imagination to see something like that happening in the real world. Blah-blah. This argument appeared to disprove Spiritia as magic and prove Sharon's music as non-magic. Remember that spiritia and song energy were also scientifically explained in the show (M7). This is something I think we touched on in a thread about "magic" in Macross a while back. Spiritia in M7 isn't really explained scientifically--Dr. Chiba just shows us some graphs, tells us it's scientific, and later builds some machinery that somehow focuses "sound energy". It might as well be ectoplasm from Ghostbusters, or chi, or The Force. Whatever rules govern it are completely unmoored from real science. Hypnotism (suggestion/manipulation of perceptions), holography, and artificial intelligence all have a basis in current scientific knowledge. At the present time, some people can be incapacitated by a pattern of flashing lights. I don't know why we need to be sidetracked by "if machines can do it, so can biological" creatures. Of course they can. It isn't what is doing it--it's how they do it. M+ is comprehensible without appeals to magic; like SDF Macross, the only major leap of faith is the hyperspace fold--but that has a strong tradition in SF, and it's even touched on in serious science discussions from time to time. M0 shows us stuff that looks like magic, but even more than M7, it invites us to interpret it as "psychic powers" or supertechnology relying on principles that are either unknown or at the extreme edge of scientific speculation. In this respect M0 continues the trend introduced by M7--a break from the world as presented in SDF/DYRL/M+, all of which could be interpreted by the audience as hard SF (or close to it). I too am a hardcore M+ fan but even considering that I´ll have to recognize that there´re magic elements within M+ , for instance , how the heck is Isamu able to hear Myung´s song ? oh so it´s so scientific isn´t ? howf is it possible for Sharon to have adquired Myungs feelings over Isamu if she was a machine anyway ? How can we criticize what´s shown in M0 if we´ve never seen the real nature of Protoculture , for all we know their technology could be lightyears away from our miserable conceptions. For me it aint strange the APHOS could control the the Asuka carrier and the ANti-UN sub and make them levitate since the APHOS was also built with ( superior ) overtechnology , possibly the only thing it needed is some additional source of energy to make them levitate , hence the activation of the generators , etc... What´s really puzzling is the fact that the APHOS was in total control of the situation and it could´ve quite easily destroyed the Monster and the Asuka , so WHY did it left Earth ? What relationship does all this have with the Zentradi coming to earth ? could it have been the PCS signal from the APHOS ? All this signs only point out to some kind of sequel IMO
  20. Flying sub and aircraft carriers?! When does this happen, is there a picture. At one point in ep # 5, Anti-Grav generators are shown (similar to the ones in the SDF-1). I think these are in the Asuka, which could explain why and how it is flying. Presumably the Anti-UN submarine also has anti-grav generators as well? Not sure why the Aegis cruiser is also flying tho, perhaps it all is magic? Anyway, I agree that the begining is very rushed, but the dog fight scenes are excelent, although it is a shame that Roy or Shin are not the ones to kill DD and Nora. I liked how there was a practical use for the Destroid Monsters claws, after all the speculating on MW about why it had claws and how impractical they were. Graham Yeah , those were anti-grav generator that the APHOS activated (otherwise there wouldn´t be a reason for that scene to be shown). I would assume engines generate a whole magnetic field around them like the macross before it folded in the TV series and M+ and that´s why all the other ships are floating , OR a fairly simplier explanation would be that the other ships also had anti -grav generators ( doubtly though).
  21. In case you didn´t notice I kinda appealed to those who DIDN´T watch the chinese fansub hence my comments about refraining from posting here , the thread title clearly says it ¨spoiler thread¨ , so those who have no idea what happens on the episode should calmly wait till they watch it. Well , they´re being harsh in some way cause some of them try to impose their ¨it´s all magic¨ vision over everyone , be it for good or bad. In regards to Mao´s appearance inside Shin´s VF-0 , that would have to be the only really unexplicable scene in the whole episode , Although one could quite easily explain it by analysing the scene within the Azuka when Mao touches the AFOS and it proyects what´s happening inside the ANti-UN sub , it wouldn´t be strange if Mao could use the AFOS to proyect herself since she had the AFOS blood inside her. If the AFOS was organic at all then the UN scientists would´ve catalogued it as an organic fossil instead of a protoculture artifact had it had signs of having organic elements from the begining. Besides that , we can clearly seen the mechanical parts of it when the head unit attaches to the main body , and the supposedly organic part where Sara is being hosted is only a life support chamber , much like an artyficial womb ( kinda reminds me of Zentradis micronization chambers). And I´m honestly sorry if you took my commenst as agresive so I apologise , but either way , when I reffered to limited I meant people only saw what they wanted to see under their ¨M0 is just a M7 sequel¨ vision. I personally aint a M7 fans , I hardly like it and I actually see no conection between the two series in terms of magic elements since M0´s somehow unconventional elements can be easily explained in conection to the Protoculture technology. Also , it seems to me that it´s is finally made clear Sara and Mao aren´t exactly humans , in fact I doubt they´re humans at all since they could connect to the AFOS and all other protoculture remains ( signed flying rocks). As I said earlier , something nice at the end is that they seems to allude that Shin and Sara went towards the center of the galaxy or wherever the last protoculture remains are so it would seem the protoculture aint finnished at all. I also agree the episode was ineccesarily rushed , it´s a shame they had to waste epside 2-4 in irrelevant stuff instead of going more in depth story-wise in relatinon to the protoculture and the Anti-UN. I don´t know why but it really left me withhis the impression that everything in this episode kinda set ground for a new series , either post M+ or another prequel , not because of the bunch of unanswered question but more importantly cause of the implications of some of the things shown within the OVAs
  22. OK I finally saw it. Well , first of all I´ve gotta say .. WTH ? Secondly , to all those people that come to this thread with no real contribution please don´t come here until you´ve wathced it so we can all share our informed views . Rigth now is pretty difficult to make up a coherent review of the episode so all that comes to mind is ... wonderfull , WEIRD , emotional , short. going more deeply into it I think people are being VERY harsh on this final episode , of all the scenes that showed some kind ¨magic¨ ,as some would say , only really seemed to point at the nature of Protoculture ( something we´ve never really seen in depth in any other series) , in my point of view this episodes finally shows some kind of tie between humans and protoculture , although in a subtle manner. All this poo about the AFOS being more close to M7´s protodeviln rather than what´s is shown in SDF Macross or DYRL is just a very limited view of what´s shown in the episode , first of all it clearly shows the AFOS as being a mechanical device in service for the Protoculture. I regards to the flying ships I´ve gotta tell you that those carriers carry overtechnology from the Macross ( the reactor/engines shown being activated by the AFOS in the Azuka carrier are VERY reminiscent of the Macross´s levitation engines shown on both the TV series and M+) , it seems that protoculture technology is all connected , kinda like bluetooth of wifi ( remember the flying rocks ?) , same aplies to the anti-UN sub ( they stole overtechlogy) and the VF-0s. nicely enough the ending seems to allude that shin and Sara go back to wherever the AFOS detected the last protoculture activity ( go back to source/base command). ALso the the ¨mumbo jumbo¨ giant beam from the AFOS artifact is in more than way quite importat , not only is it similar to the Macross´s main gun attack but it could very well be the real reason behind the Zentrais coming (the AFOs is also shown to emit some kind of signal at some point , much similarly like the cyclops radar ...PCS signal anyone ?) All in all it was quite good , awesome animation , M+´s beatiful fights , lots of good deaths and a lot of unanswered question that may very well direct to a movire edition or even a new series ( there´s a lot of ground set for some kind of alluded sequel)
  23. I can´t understand why Sony is dumb enough to support a media which in their own words enables you to record your own stuff on it and in the other hand canñt let people record freely on Hi-MD after all the people who have prayed for things like optical out or native MP3 support ( I personally hate MP3 quality but WTH , it would widen up MD market) and whole number of other things. thanksfully this is not a Sonly exclusive effort and there are more companies envolved cause I´m sick and tired of being forced to reduce my expectatives and go the Sony way with their niche media formats and all that.
  24. Ditto Did I miss something , I never heard anyone talk about it until now , I assumed the DVDs just came with the OVAs and nothing else since that was one of the strongest critics thrown at it.
  25. Any of the two is a good option IMO
