  1. Second (or third) that for a Veronica Mars-watcher.... And I'm definately watching Lost over Smallville. Smallville's just been waaaay too odd lately what with Kryptonians visiting every-freakin-place on Earth and leaving all their crap behind....seriously, a Superman symbol on a church fresco in Paris?!? And Smallville doesn't have Terry O'Quin
  2. They did it again! SpaceShipOne finished another successful launch. Now if they can do it again on Monday, they'll win the X-Prize!
  3. Where are you located? Galv still might not get hit directly, but we're definately gonna get wet
  4. Hooray!! Now it's headed toward us in Galveston! Least it's not a monster hurricane this time
  5. Ouch, that really sucks about Williams' score...that was one of my fav cues! Stupid sound editors What was with the BTTF dvds? I haven't noticed anything glaringly wrong....
  6. My fav line's gotta be "I meant throw something" This movie was sooo old-fashioned, my girlfriend and I ate it up. Yeah, massive suspension of disbelief, but it was still a helluva good time at the cniema.
  7. I have to say before I knew about Macross I really dug those books, they added alot more character development, tidbits on the carrier operations, more everything......then I saw Macross and a had wee little bonfire But speaking of anime books, I heard they were reprinting the OLD Gundam novels.....any word?
  8. How can you not love a show that has a giant robot completely obliterating the Jersey DMV??? I just wish they'd get the new eps up soon, supposedly the next villians are the sailor senshi
  9. Well, all the critics hated it, I and my friends liked it. Yeah it kinda falls apart when you know the twists, but personally I think he's much better at character-writing than plot twists. Usually you can figure out several (hundred) holes in his plots, but he's got some nice character moments.... The trailers and posters made it seem like a horror movie, so when the love story shows up people wonder where's the action? Just start thinking of all his movies as slow character dramas with suspensful elements
  10. So will the Astray Red Frame come with decals? "Keep your distance" and "Not for sale" would really look nice on mine
  11. Yeah I'm still on the fence about SEED, but I loved the first Astray volume and speaking of, 2 volumes are out already??? Stupid Lake Charles stores...we never get anything on time, I've even had to special order every Nauiscaa book past Vol 1
  12. Aww, that sucks, if Singer's gone does that mean John Ottman's off from editing and scoring as well? I really wanted to hear what Ottman could have done with the Phoenix saga's score While I agreee that movies had too much Wolvie, as far as Halle's 'not enough screen time' debate, I think she's full of herself.....she got a helluva lot more than Cyclops, and he's the supposed LEADER of the team and he's been given the shaft in all but 2 scenes (his miinute talk with Xavier about taking care of the team in X1 and the last few mins of X2)
  13. Jerry Goldsmith died in his sleep at the age of 75 on July 21...... Sad year for music composers with both Michael Kamen and Jerry gone. They will be sorely missed
  14. Much better movie than I'd imagined from the trailer. Yeah Will does have several 'one-liners' but they are nowhere near the level in his previous movies. Yeah the plot was hokey, but as an action movie it had some fairly interesting ruminations on the robot concept. As a side-note, the tagline "One man saw it coming" probly referred to the Doctor rather than Will's character as everyone assumes...nice little touch there
  15. He's attached this week at least.......looks more and more like the Superman movie is gonna be in limbo for a while still
  16. The only way I'll even think about getting this box set is if Don Davis did commentary tracks on Reloaded and Revolutions. Those two scores were the sole merchandise sales WB got from me on the sequels, I don't even own the actual movies aside from the first
  17. I've seen (not watched) a H/K boot of 707R, looked pretty good, hope somebody picks it up, esp. seeing as it's an OVA. Matsumoto's Sub 99 looks like a retread of his space operas, but underwater, but it's got subs, so I'll still watch (aniemsuki.com has ep 1 for fansub torrent) On a side note: does anyone know anything about the mangas that 707R and Blue Sub are based on?
  18. Just saw it, and I think that's the most human super-hero movie I've seen. Great job by Sam and co. And if anyone wants a laugh, Sony put up a Lego version (of sorts) here: http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/spiderman2.html
  19. At least the movie poster isn't claiming to be based on, an adaptation of, or inspired by: "Suggested by the book by Isaac Asimov" I'll probly see it in the dollar cinema for 2 reasons: Proyas and Tudyk. So far I've liked all of Proyas' films. The Crow was just fun and Dark City was a thinking man's sci-fi flick: neither of them had really big name stars or such a mainstream style, so I wonder if he got pushed to get Will in and change the name?
  20. I think that chart is a joke just by the names - they're Pierre's dvd list...but still, even my robotech/macross fan friend (isn't that like supporting the israelies and palestinians?) is pissed about the dvd releasing issue. But I think all my resentment with HG is summed up thus....no acknowledgement of Kawamori
  21. First off, I'm not too fond of the "one person is so special everyone has to bow to their greatness" so the first movie irked me a bit with everybody thinking Harry was the Second Coming (just so's you know I'm not hypocritical - not in love with the Gundam Newtypes idea either). Maybe the movie did depart a bit from the book, but I for one like the fact it seems Harry's now more integrated with the rest of the school rather than this mythical figure. Second, I agree with Solscud007...not having read the books, several parts of the movie left me scratching my head (namely the stag), was only when I asked a friend about it that I learned what was left out: dvd deleted scenes are nice in adding bits of the book that weren't essential to the plot, but I think they misstepped big-time in not wholly explaining plot-points, when even a small conversation would have done. In all, I rather enjoyed the movie and look forward to the next 4-hour one Sorry for the long post
  22. Same, most shows I'm not willing to shell out for, but this is definitly one I want to have an official copy of in my collection. Oh and for those interested http://pam.main.jp/jpg/event/shs43/shs43_086.jpg mini-model of the Toybox Link's not workin
  23. Any word on the show being picked up in the US? Would be nice change from all the copycat animes Also I really want the dvds
