Very few of them. I'm a picky movie-goer and an even pickier TV viewer. I didn't see Star Trek until two weeks ago, for example.

It's unfortunate that due to injury I can't use any sort of 3D movie technology, but in this case it's totally not wasted. I have utterly zero interest in watching this movie, least of all by paying theater-sized prices for it. That being said, is it as preachy and in-your-face about our own history as I fear?

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)
CoryHolmes replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Based on that trailer, I can already tell there are quite a few places where my remote-finger will be itching for the fast-forward button. That being said, watching Iron Man and War Machine blast the crap outta robot mooks is going to pure awesomeness -
One of the WMGs I read on TVTropes had suggested/hoped that by the end of Game 3 we'll be presented with a choice or a situation where if you took the dickhead route throughout the game, you'd beat the Big Bad but possibly lose/kill off humanity in the process because you'd alienated any and all allies to help you out. On the other hand, if you took the time to help people with their problems and make yourself out to be somebody worth their effort, then you'd have some allies for the Final Fight. Only fan speculation, but I like it. It'd give a lasting whammy about the problems in being a jerk to everyone when push comes to shove.

I think it was more he knew the risks of jumping through the wormhole and decided those odds were better than being evicerated by said monsters of the week.

I think they both respect each other for what they bring to the table/ship. Such as in Light when Rush told Young, "Now would be a good time to fix this problem." And then Young did so and the problem got fixed in record time. I think more than anything else, I'd like to see a sort of us-versus-them mentality take hold on the ship. When left to their own devices, they all engage in their petty scheming and philandering. But when an outsider comes in and threatens them, they band together and kick ass. Ah, that would be the life

Not so much a coward as very Machiavellian in his personality. He's not afraid to go off-world, wasn't afraid to dive into an unknown 9th Chevron, and wasn't afraid to do his best to remove the main obsticle in his path (Young). Everything he does, bar none, is to his benefit. As soon as Young was replaced he got carte blanche to study the Chair, which had been his driving goal over the last two or three episodes. But I will agree that he was more interesting when he did obvious things to benefit the ship and crew, such as driving Telford off in a masterful stroke of Magnificent Bastard-dom Also, I want to see what this will do to his character, since the PTBs have stated that this show is quite seralized in nature and I want to know how Rush felt being on the receiving end of someone else's plots.

I thought they did one better by getting Martin Sheen to voice a character. His salary has to be gigantic. -
And even if Rush does try to (rightly) blame Young, who's going to believe him? He's not exactly warmly treated around that ship, doesn't have a lot of friends, and certainly doesn't have the support that Young does amongst the crew. I want to know what's happening with Franklin, the guy who was sitting in the Chair. Stupic frickin' break...

I always figured that was the point. It seemed to me that Mass Effect was one giant homage to every 80s and 90s sci-fi story all mashed together. From the Blade Runner-esque theme, dropped hints to Star Wars, BSG, Firefly... it's all there if you look closely enough.

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)

Same here. Based on what I've seen so far, Whiplash will be the moments that I want most to fast-forward through. Just like Jar-Jar in Star Wars, Sam's mother in Transformers, etc. -
The way they played Greer is what proved to me that the PTBs of this show have learned of their mistakes and are constantly playing up to them. SG-1 and SGA were both very cliched shows, playing each and every one as straight as they possibly could. People, including myself, expected this trend to continue in SGU. Enter Greer, the stereotypical "angry black man" trope and everyone wrote him off as such. Then came Darkness, and more importantly Light and people (especially myself) suddenly had our eyes opened as to just how badly the PTBs had played us From his time in the online Kinosodes to his playing of the crew in Justice, everything Greer has done since then has proven to me that the PTBs are conciously avoiding tropes and cliches whenever they can.

Take a look at this. I strongly suspect ME2 is going to become a case of, "Hey it's that voice!"

Megaman is and sho-shul... oh em gee OMG! -
I won't.

Engh, Ford. I was never too happy with Ford, though they had the basis for a good character there. The one thing I hope they don't do is transform SGU into the slapstic comedy that SGA became in the later seasons. I'm quite pleased with it as-is.

Not even that schoolyard bully who terrorized you in Grade 5? For shame... -
I've gotten as far as the "primary sanding" stage and could use some advice. This plastic seems a lot softer than some of the other kits I've built, so does anyone have reccomendations on grit/grade of sandpaper to use? I don't want to sand out huge chunks of poly that then have to be fixed.

If you're upset that the show isn't due back on SyFy for another 4 months, then you should blame Caprica. SGU is being (temporarily) shelved to make way for that abomination of a spin-off. That being said, I hear that Space in Canada will begin showing new episodes sometime in January.

Actually, I think Megaman would do well with a genre shift into FPS, a la Metroid Prime. If done well, it could be a lot of fun. -
What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
CoryHolmes replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just finished watching the whole series of Gasaraki. I first tried watching it years and years ago but couldn't get into it, despite its nifty mecha designs. This time I was able to muddle my way through some of the chewier scenes and discovered myself really enjoying it, despite it being very obviously "inspired" by Eva. So much so that it took a sharp left turn at the 2/3rds point and plunged into deep left field. While there are many parts that seem rushed and ideas that were never quite explored as much as I'd like, it's still a solidy entertaining show*. 3.5/5 * take this opinion with a grain of salt, since I'm rewatching the 2008 American Gladiators series and finding it solidly entertaining -
Greer continues to prove that he's pure, undiluted awesomeness combined with epic amounts of win

No, she, Grace Park, and Tricia Helfer did a photoschoot for a magazine. Kinda like Amanda Tapping did once. -
