  1. Getting the run time error. Was anyone who got that able to figure out what to do to get it to go through?
  2. So it looks like definitely have two, and possibly three, factions: Mrs Pertrelli, the OWI and Linderman, who may or may not be aligned with one of the other two. It also looks like we know how Peter gets his scar.
  3. The two sons are seen in the episode where he does the interview. I think Linderman's knowledge comes from Isaac's paintings. He's been collecting them for a long time, it seems.
  4. A lot of those people will show up later. The cast is huge (one of the reasons seeing a dub of this would be interesting; there are probably more characters in the show than there are voice actors in the US). The level of incompetence on both sides is kind of the point. It does get exaggerated at a couple of points. I bought a couple of the case of one coin ships. They're pretty cool, but tiny.
  5. www.logh.net has some info on the ships, but not a lot. Someone needs to translate the various Japanese sites that have the game stats posted. I know that a Reich cruiser is about a half a kilometer long and that the Brunhild is over a kilometer.
  6. They've been fighting for about 150 years. Thinking among the military has become stagnant and on both sides most of the top brass are where they're at for political reasons rather than due to their own ability or merit. Also, in the movie, Reinhard even admits his maneuver is just this side of stupid. He promises Kircheis he won't do something like it again.
  7. In Japan, the novels the anime is based on are huge. They had a fan base to draw on even before the series got made. You're right that that model just would not work over here.
  8. How it got released in Japan initially, is they'd take pre-orders for a season of the series (they're in "seasons" in spite of not being actually aired). They used the money from the pre-orders to produce the series. It took nearly ten years for it to all get released. They also handled the initial DVD release the same way (took pre-orders for the set and when they had enough, made the DVDs; they've since released the DVDs for individual sale). Besides the two movies, there's another 52 episodes of side stories. The Japanese company tried for years to get a US company to license the show, but their stipulation was that the licenser had to buy the entire series. All the US companies wanted to just buy the first season and didn't want to risk paying for the whole thing if it flopped. Finally, a couple of years ago they anounced they were going to relase it in the US themselves. Unfortunately, they decided to do it like they did with the Japanease release and not many people were willing to sign up to spend $1500 on the set. So now it's back into limbo.
  9. Got my Dancougar yesterday. Man is it awesome. I need to re-watch that series now (I've got it all on VHS, but I should find the DVDs).
  10. I'm guessing the new girl had some sort of lie detection or telepathy ability. Bennett's boss was obviously testing him.
  11. Yeah. TK distorting the sound or something like that seems to be the cause. It didn't have any mind control aspect to it. I thought it was funny seeing Sylar having a hard time dealing with the hearing power. Serves the bastard right.
  12. Nope, excepting possible bootlegs. I love this show. I have the USR tapes (a later release with the corrected Psychic Wave). Gil Berg is a great villain and the ending was awesome.
  13. Probably the film I'm most looking forward to this year. Glad to hear that it's good.
  14. So he can use multiples (or at least can switch between them on the fly).
  15. It's because the anime caught up to the manga, so they have to make stuff up until more manga comes out.
  16. Sylar's ability is to figure out how things work. His stealing powers is an indirect result of his power (he kills someone, figures out how they do what they do and modifies himself). After last night's episode and the fact that Bennet's people only ever found the TK, I suspect that Sylar can only use one power at a time. He has to re-configure his brain to switch (no indication of how long this takes though).
  17. What channel is this? I just updated and didn't get a new channel.
  18. I've noticed that the shop is sometimes hard to get into. I've had to make multiple tries a few times.
  19. I can't say I care much for this picture either. Honestly, I think Lee's landscapes and such are great, but his character depictions aren't so good.
  20. I'm really looking forward to this. I thought Chris did a pretty good job with the Simarillion. While I prefer Beren and Luthien to Turin, it's still a really great story. Tuor's story would be another good one to see expanded on. I was always partial to the helmet illustration on the ofiginal cover of Unfinished Tales Nesmith is probably my favorite Tolkien illustrator.
  21. We know how physics work, so that gives us a fairly good idea.
  22. We see maybe a handful of boarding actions in the entire in the entire series. Usually they're surprise actions initiated by deceit of subterfuge. Is it 100% realistic, no, but that would make for an incredibly boring show (it rarely even works in novels, for that matter).
  23. What better way to prove you're a teutonic badass than to whack people with a battleaxe?
  24. The populations for both sides are mentioned a couple of times in the series, but I can't recall what they are (each was in the tens of billions I think). The Reich is signifigantly larger than the FPA (which is important for the story).
  25. The casualty rates he mentioned aren't routine at all. The number of ships and men involved are huge, but the percentages aren't nearly that high outside a couple of exception similar to the historic ones you list.
