  1. I would like to see more pictures in Macross mode. That's the mode I'm going to primarily be keeping it in anyways. Yeah - the battroid is cool - but I like the who battleship idea and I don't have any other super dimmensional space battle ships in my collection Pete
  2. You know what - I would go as far as saying that these transformable VF-1s HURT the Revoltech brand. I mean - if your goal is to market yourself as producing super poseable anime accurate robots and figures.... THIS does not help. Pete
  3. Looks good in all three modes. And my birthday is in Feburary! I guess Brera is gonna be my valentine But don't worry - I'm just using him to get to his sister ;p Pete
  4. Yeah...I'm also curious how that transforms... Pete
  5. Hah. Hah. IF ONLY!... From what I read, bankers gave themselves big bonuses because their accounting guys basically tallied up the bail out money as "profits" - ergo the banks made profits (despite being effectively bankrupt) - ergo the bosses get bonuses. That is really too bad. I remember even before the depression, when I actually had money to spend, I just could never must enough of it to buy even one of their products - though I was really really interested in doing so. From this discription, it sounds like they really are re-organizing. That is to say - if one guy will continue with it, then it'll just be a case of a man who is self-employed - this means less taxes to be paid - whereas when he employed other people, it was a company, and he probably had to pay social security (or whatever the equivalent in Japan is) plus income taxes etc for the employees (and maybe health etc)... Anyways... it is really too bad. This is a company that did stuff that we all would really dream of owning... a pioneer company. I hope the guy doesn't quit and keeps at it. Eventually the economy will improve and people will still want to pay for his skilled craftsmanship. Pete
  6. The statement with lights and sound is true - but we must keep in mind two things: a) The target audience is between 3 and 10. People between 3 and 10 have no grasp of the beauty of detailed, accurate design frames, and are satisfied with a kibble crap jet form that goes pow! pow! pow! bang! boom! ha! hah! ha! And it's not just because they are "kids" - but more likely because they are kids who don't build models. Model builders - even simple models - have an appreciations for delicacy, design parameters and finer quality. b) The target is also composed of really really fikly kids - not Transformers fans - but kids who will want it and then want something completely different next month. These people need the lights and sounds so that they have one more reason to be excited in the toy store. What am I getting at? The sad fact is that Transformers are designed and produced with the EXPLICIT intention of being thrown in the closet, or the basement - and left there to rot for 10 years until somebody does a garage sale. Pete
  7. Well I'm happy about Mari and the new Asuka. I was also somewhat moderately interested by what appear to be...are those Godzilla monsters? That's nice. Batman does not interest me, and the fact that a huge revolver join protrudes from his cape where there should be a crease is even less interesting. I dunno - Revoltech is a good concept - and they have done some very good work on some Revoltech - but ultimately I like my super robots biger and with metal and chunkier... However - I will say that I am a big fan of the Fraulein Revoltech - and here Kaiyodo is still doing good with Mari and Asuka - because human characters often get overlooked. As for Alien - that's nice. I'm a fan of the movie. But I don't think I want a Revoltech alien... I wish they'd hurry up and make some Macross human figures for cryin' out loud. Looking at the abonimations they did for the VF-1....man....use the license to do something OTHER than flood the market with more crappy VF-1s. Try making Misa Hayes - not even in flight officer suit, but in the get up she wore to see the premier eof Shao Pi Lon.... make the people.... Pete
  8. Hm. After a few minutes of considering it - I'm happy to say - I'll marry her. Pete
  9. Wow ! That's awesome! I'm getting 10 of them! Oh wait. That was me from 5 years ago talking, when I didn't even know Soul of Chogokin existed and I had never built a Gundam model... I think that the only reason these ugly things sell is because millions of people world wide have yet to build a Gundam or transform a Yamato SV-51. Pete
  10. That's just dumb. The Macross is supposed to sound remotely like Maguro and therefore the relevence of Hikaru's tuna-fishing adventure in space. Pete
  11. Um, actually the VF-27 looks like it has all the problems of the VF-25. It's hips are too fat and it generally seems a tad wider in girth than the animation model - certainly wider than the model. But I am still getting it. I'm fine with it. I'm also going to build the model. I love Macross Frontier Pete
  12. Well - just for the record: I am a big fan of synth music and 80s glam rock in general. But I hate Robotech. so I hate the music too - no matter how much synth they have. And there is one simple reason for it: Go turn on Macross SDFM TV please. Now turn down the volume. Now flush the toilet. Hear that sound? Imagine that sound being all you hear while watching Macross - that's Robotech. And just because you sometimes feel better after using the toilet, doesn't make the flushing sound any more desirable to listen to. Pete
  13. Hey - if there's a picture of it on the internet - then it MUST be true. I understand Mylene marrying Gamlin - but why does Gamlin become Doctor Who? Pete
  14. Here's a different question: How many MW members HAD the Wave SDF-1 and got rid of it in anticipation of this? 'Cause that would be me. I thought I'd be buying this. Oh well. There goes that pipe dream Pete
  15. Pf. Typical. These rock'n'roll lolies are all the same. They'll stick with the band until it becomes clear that they're going to spend their whole life living in a stink hole with a guy who wears a green wife beater and keeps sleeping around with Motorcycle babes. That's when they suddenly become "respectable" young ladies and hook up with Mr. Rogers. Happens all the time. Sell out Pete
  16. Not to derail the thread too much, but a VF-1 can't win against the RX-78-2. You can simply infer this from the fact that the VF-1 was mass produced and no where did we see any VF-1 withstand an above normal amount of fire power or any other attack and survive unharmed. In fact, throughout Macross, we routinely see VF-1s getting blown up all the time - just like the Zendradi mecha. In this sense, your VF-1 is certainly a great fighting machine, but it's not any where near invincible. Meanwhile - the RX-78-2 withstood massive attacks from multiple Zeon mobile suits until finally being taken down by a combination of advanced Zeon technology and extreme battle damage endured during a huge space battle. Now - please don't ask me to explain what the Gundam's armor is made of - but unless you're going to argue that a lone VF-1 can take out the entire Zeon army without getting a scratch - then you've got a problem contending that a VF-1 can beat Gundam. The only possible advantage that a VF-1 might have is speed and long-range attack. And the use of Reaction warheads from a long-distance attack. But if we're talking one-on-one battroid vs robot or even a relatively close proximity fight - Gundam wins. This is no way belittles the VF-1. I mean - it's like saying "Toppa Tengenn Gurren Lagann or Gundam?" Obvious the former. Does this mean Gundam sucks? No. Or another way to put it - Ranka vs. Sheryl? Obviously Ranka. But does this mean Sheryl sucks? We can only hope so! Like a vaccumm! Pete
  17. I watched one episode of the new series - can't remember which one... and it was like 4 years ago - but I did enjoy it. I found the visuals, the acting and the tone/mood to be quite good. But alas - when one spends every day and night re-watching Gurren Lagann, one finds it hard to keep up with what's new...or in this case...5 years old? Pete
  18. Actually - judging by that picture -the ARMORED DX is much better than the 1/72 armored Ozma. The legs - which are supposedly one of the good things about the model - suddenly become bad in armored mode - with the hinges just jutting out like that. Meanwhile the DX legs look very smoothly connected to the torso - the DX reflects "anime magic" in action - that's good. As for the joints, paint etc... what do you guys do with your Valkyrie? I mean, do you smash them into one another yelling "boom! ratatatatatata! zzzeeeoooo! kabloowy!!" ??? Do you spin mindlessly around with the valkyrie in hand imagining that it's flying through space and then, on account of diziness, come crashing down on the floor, sending your valk flying and smashing onto the ground? Do entertain your friend's 2 year old when they come over for a visit but giving him Ozma to chew on? Seriously - these things are durable, paint does not chip and they're good aproximations of the anime design. I was really down on the DX when the first pictures came out - the model looked so much smoother. But now I see that the DX was well thought out. Also - have you noticed how at different scales, proportions look different? Maybe the VF-25F just wasn't meant to look as good as some of us might have wanted in 1:60 scale? Whatever the case - I'm happy that I own the SMS squadron. Oh - how Macross Frontier is EASY to collect. Just FOUR variants of the VF-25. And ONE VF-27. And maybe they'll give us a VF-17 or whatever it's called... But it sure is easier than Macross where you have TV armor, Movie armor, TV hands, movie hands, TV color, Movie colors...etc etc etc... I like how what the Frontier Valkyrie do is they combine EVERYTHING good about all previous valkyrie... So like Luca's RVF-25 has the ELINT dome - good. And Ozma can have Armor. And Michael has a super pack.. fine. Alto apparently gets Strike Parts in the movie...fine It's all very good for the collector. I don't have to fret over needing to buy seven zillion jets... And hopefully the EX Gear line will expand and I'll finally get Sheryl's panties... Pete
  19. Gamlin deserves credit for letting himself be overcome by the power of Bassara's love songs! Also - he is a tabloid sensation. His Mr. Rogers dress code, Eddie Munster hair do and his orange sweater can't be beat either! Hail Gamlin Pete
  20. They snap together perfectly. Don't use cement - you'll ruin the model. Nani? Never heard of this before.... Then again - I don't paint my Gundams. There's really no need. ESPECIALLY with kits made from 2008 and up. The colors are fresh and vibrant and perfect. Why paint? Dunk them in warm/hot water - and it only takes a few seconds. Dunk them in cool/luke warm water and it takes longer. Generally, when you dunk them, you will hear a "sizzling" sound... You can try sliding the decal off the sheet every once in a while - if it doesn't budge - don't push it but re-dunk it. Once the process is complete- the decal slides effortlessly. Hm. I guess I'm also a noob because I've never heard of those before and don't know what you're talking about Are you going to customize your Gundam? Because usually they come with decals - and not water slide but rub on... Pete
  21. Well so far everything I've seen or built with a 2.0 on it I've really, really liked. Pete
  22. When did this happen? That's very sad. Too bad. They made some awesome stuff. Guess there were not many folks able to buy it though..eh? Pete
  23. Hm. What's with all the lukewarm Halloween costumes guys? I might not have participated in Halloween for a good 20 years now (well, 19)... but the last time I trick or treated - I took it seriously enough to almost give some poor woman a near heart attack. I put on some muddy jeans, a plain grey jacket and...a Jason Hockey mask! I also borrowed my mom's kitchen knife Now - you know how at night, if the lights are on in a house - then people OUTSIDE can see into the house - but the people in the house see NOTHING that is outside in the pitch black dark? Well - these were the conditions in which I - dressed as Jason - approached - and people "saw" me at the very last second... it's like... they were having dinner, and out their windows it would just be pitch black and then suddenly BAM! JASON WITH A KNIFE! I didn't have to ring any bells. On reflection, I guess I'm lucky that I was living in WASPachussettes at the time because I imagine that I might have been shot if I had done that in other parts of the country Anyways - Halloween is an awesome awesome holidy. It's like Cosplay day. In fact - I would much prefer it if people showed up dressed up as high school lolis rather than swamp monsters... But I'm definitely not a Haloween Grinch - it's a great great idea. Pete
  24. I'm officially adding anime52k8 to my list of official spokesmen. So now, remember - just because I might be sleeping, you can still hear my opinions my just reading anime52k8 or Keith. Pete
  25. Leave it to MW members to find something to bitch abou even with this magnificent DX Quarter.. Stupid Bandai!! Look at those little figures you included! Totally not anime accurate fugly piece of shmyts!! I am so heartbroken! That's it! No more Macross Frontier for me! ... Seriously - holstered flight deck? ... that's a bit risque... why would they want the Quarter to holster it's flight deck to use a 5 fingered hand? Pete
