  1. No, I totally agree with ff95gj... I can totally see your love in those pictures. You deserve your own photo-thread dude. You put into picture form exactly what I feel about the VF-1S - perfect perfect work. This 1/60 V.2 is just the best - still able to be in awe of it even though I have the thing... Wow. Just wow! Pete
  2. Ehh.. I think the SV-51 is just too intimidating It's too good to win I am sorely tempted to vote for it, but the question isn't best Yamato of all time in general, but best in terms of proportions - right? - and in that sense I again reiterate that really; beyond personal preference, it's hard to say that any one yamato stands out as better in terms of proportions than the others. All of them are works of brilliant art. Pete
  3. I can't think of any small things that haven't been mentioned; but it is very enjoyable to read this thread and recall all of the stuff you guys are talking about Pete
  4. About the hips - that's probably you. I had a "problem" with getting the swing bar loose from the pelvis as well - in the sense that I noticed that there was "no way to do it." I asked about it - I think even on this thread - and the gentleman with Stormshadow (GI Joe) in his Avatar was nice enough to talk me through it. I forgot the sequence - but there is indeed a sequence - starting I think with pushing the legs up... I'll check and find it.... But the point is - once you know the sequence - the transformation of that particular part is smooth. As for the shoulders - it's a matter of proportion. The "square panels" to which the ball joint is attached on the 1/48 is a big peace of plastic, and the 1/48s have far looser ball joint attachments for the arms - true. What I do is - when I want to move the arm on the ball joint, I hold the entire square bit that the ball joint is attached to as counter-friction. That takes the pressure of and makes you not have heart attacks whenever you want to re-pose the arm. But yeah - the hip from Battroid mode is easy - if you follow the sequence...gotta dig that up... it's here somewhere... gettin' old... too many different complex transformations to remember... EDIT: From Shin Densetsu - here you go: Pete
  5. Personally I highly doubt it. From what I recall, the Weathered VF-1S was a big let down, what with the Fast Food spray job and the blue box... plus, the downward economic trends likely mean people will consider a 'regular' Yamato to be a treasure at this point, so why bother pushing them with another "limited version" ? Just my hunch. I'll probably be wrong as usual Pete
  6. Shouldn't this go in the Anime & Sci-Fi Thread? Beagle Ride Armor not Macross toy Pete
  7. Nexx Stalker wrote: Truer words could never have been written. As proof, I give you the VF-3RKL: Now that would be one heck of a painjob - if someone can photoshop the 1:60 DX into Erkel colors Pete
  8. Yeah; why would they do a VF-1? Anyways - when I look at the VF-25 in 1/100 scale, my feeling is that: a) the legs are just as "fat" as the 1/60 (proportionally) b) the hands are terribly tiny Considering it's also a parts-former... I'm not an enthusiast. Reamain a DX fan. Besides - it's 1/60 scale; so it'll fit with all of my Yamatos which is a Godsend. It could have been worse - we could have had a different scale and then the world might well have come to an end. Pete
  9. That's not true! That can't be possible! What will I do with my life between now and then? Pete
  10. I've transformed my VF-1S about ten or so times since I got it, and no cracks, protrusions or anything of the sort have happened. In fact, none of my Yamato figures have had something like "cracks over time" happen. The ones that were defected busted during the first transformation/posing. The ones that aren't defective don't suddenly explode. I keep looking up and down my VF-1S everytime I read another horror story in this thread, wondering where the problem is... and seeing absolutely nothing ... I still have my second VF-1S - unopened in the box... maybe if I open him, he will explode after two transformations and I'll know what everyone is talking about? Pete
  11. The Looser the Waste Band The Deeper the Quicksand Or so I have read! I wanna Sink her with my Pink Torpedo! She fits me like like a perfect Tuxedo! DX 1:60! DX 1: 60! Talk about mud flaps My Valkyire's got em! Sorry...couldn't resist...I so love Spinal Tap. Would love it, if the next Macross focused on them singing to the Zendradi... Macross: Do You Remember Where We Left the Keys to the Hotel Room? Pete
  12. Yeah, if you have Millia - get Max. Should have told us you had Millia- I'm sure more people would have said "get Max!" - I thought you might not have had any 1/48s and were starting from a clean sleight Pete
  13. Well, technically my VFOS is also in great shape. My VFOA is kinda wobbly, but it's ok too. The OS is in perfect condition - but I just was thinking of buying more... having a fleet of Valkyrie... one of each a year... hopefully, if I buy lots of Yamatos, then the proportion of faulty ones will be pretty much equal to the proportions of a typical MW poll - so if I buy say - TEN VFOAs, then three of them will have exploding shoulders (they can all stay in fighter mode forever), while 7 will be perfect That is the only way to go ... into bankrupcy... and happiness Pete
  14. part two of the madness: I know, I know - somebody asked for pics of EVA-01.... but rest assured I'm preparing something special ...but it will go into the Fan Creation/Fan Art section when it's done... Pete
  15. I went crazy with Voltes V today...some examples: Pete
  16. I've been lurking on this thread for quite a bit... mainly intrigued by the Yamato Bumblebgum bikes... I'm thinking of getting all of them next year at some point... but I keep realizing that what I REALLY like aren't the Moto Slaves...just the girls in their outfits ... The bikes look kind of kitch to be honest... Forgive me if my question sounds redundant - but would people be nice enough to briefly re-state their positions on the Yamato Motoslaves? Worth it? Terrible? Good quality? Sturdy joints? Horrible? Floppy? Break easy? Thanks, Pete
  17. Have you tried to "push" it in a little? I noticed that, contrary to the 1/48, these laser turrets are made so that as you rotate them out when the head is in battroid mode, they sort of bend over to the side, to give it a more "anime" look, whereas the 1/48 were just parallel and straight out... I checked my VF-1S and have absolutely no trouble with it. The only "problem" is that the right shoulder is very tight - in the sense of the actual shoulder resting on the ball joint. Tight enough that I need to hold the square in order to provide counter-pressure for when I move the arm - but this isn't some huge deal... Pete
  18. It's also called having no family, no mortgage, no car loan, no kids, a girlfriend who makes three times more money than me, understanding parents, and sheer will power Pete

    My Macross

Hi Kriri. Welcome to Macross world. Here is the 'strike a pose thread' where most of us throw in pictures of our collections: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25817 Pete
  20. I think we need a "What Should I buy/put your questions here" thread because this looks to be the third such thread opened in the last week - and usually, these aren't topics that really go anywhere... As to the question: I agree with Getsuga. Get the 19 in 1/60 scale, and then get the 1J in 1/60 v.2 scale later. If you have no 1/48s then don't bother with them - use your money on 1/60s. Us people who have 1/48s are happy with them to be sure - but if I were starting fresh, I'd just skip them and get all 1/60s. Pete
  21. Is there any way to tell the difference between an "old" one and a "new" one. I think that next year, I'm just going to get ANOTHER VF-OA, VF-OS, SV-51 (N and I) and all of the rest. I've decided to stock up, and buying one fighter of all of the various ones per year seems a reasonable way to do this. Would be nifty if there was some easy way to tell you're getting a new version rather than an old one - like new packaging or something. Pete
  22. At this rate, we might as well start imagining all the G1 guys as MP. Here's a thought: If Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Grimlock are the icons of G1, and Soundwave isn't in the running, then... The only other truly iconic figures would be from... Transformers the Movie. So I say we should expect an MP Hotrod/Rodimus Prime. Then Cyclonus or Scourge. Then Kup. It makes sense when you think about it. I'm not choosing these particular characters for reason of personal preference, but rather trying to guess what the basis for selecting characters to undergo the MP process is... seems to me, that they won't touch the G1 cars... although I guess technically if they did, it would be neat - but they would ultimately have to do almost ALL of them... Whereas the next in line in the 'iconic status' are the Movie characters... Galvatron would finally be the space cannon he is Pete
  23. Ok... this is really embarrasing for me. I've been on these boards over a year now I think, I've got all of the Macross series watched and all - except II, Encore and Dynamite... I have a big collection of Yamato valkyrie (well, big for me...one of each type pretty much).... But honestly - I have no clue what's in your sig It looks like it has the nose of the YF-19 - but the wings are not inverted - or at least they don't seem inverted... but that can't be a VF-11B? That's a YF-19? Pete
  24. Make mine Henkei Pete
  25. I checked the pins in my hinges - but I can't tell if they are in "correctly" or not. Wierd... but then again - I have no clue how it was possible that my VF-OA's arm broke off and then foot just went and fell into two pieces... I didn't do anything wrong, didn't push the wrong way or pull to hard or anything... pop! snap! (no crackle)... Just like the VF-11B 1/72... I guess that's why they call it a manufacturing defect. If there was some "easy fix" it wouldn't be a defect, but a stylistic issue (like with Beast Wars Rhinox, whose shoulders were mounted on backwards - unscrew, mount correct- done, or like Animated Snarl whose nose apparently was upside-down -snap off/snap on/the snapper! ... ) er...anyways - well... will the day ever come when all of us can rejoice in our fully QC free valk? I hope so Pete
