  1. I am looking for advice. I have never ordered a yeti stand and would like to get one for my new Bandai DX VF-1J. It is unclear to me based on the conversations here if the adapters are available currently or if there are existing adapters that work with the DX. I'd like something similar to the parts used to make the stand picture above using the DX base plate. And I'd like to display the DX in fighter mode with the ability to adjust bank and pitch. Thanks for any help figuring out what I need.
  2. Howdy. You may have seen that I have a Japanese Toy Robot photo book that I self published using blurb. Well it has been entered in a competition and if you feel like it you could help me out by voting for it. Here is the link: VOTE FOR MY BOOK! You have to register, but registration is free and you are not required to purchase anything. Registration is required to prevent multiple votes from the same people. If you like my work please feel free to help me get the word out and post the link anywhere and everywhere. here is my website- you can see more of my toy robot images in the gallery and purchase prints: MY WEBSITE For smaller prints and notecards go here (I promise to put more Toy Robot prints up and toy robot notecards very soon): MY ETSY STOREFRONT
  3. Japanese Toy Robot Book The softcover 10x8 book is $39.95, hardcover is $51.95 You can still buy the 13x11 on premium paper for $98.95 here: Japanese Toy Robot Book (13x11)
  4. Thanks! Not to be too obvious but there are many more pics in the book
  5. The Book has been released! check out the first post for a link to order.
  6. Yes I did use a Holga. As for post, all I did was adjust the contrast and did a little dodging and burning. The border was added (obviously) in photoshop, that was because the images really needed border definition for the book. I'm not usually a fan of borders, but since most of these images have a white background their borders were not very well defined on the white pages of the book. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you liked the images. To keep up to date on the book and my photography either sign-up for e-mail updates or check out GreenSt's Facebook page. You can do either or both on GreenSt's front page: GreenStPhotography
  7. The Book has been released! I am offering a 5% discount to all MW forum members. Click the link below for ordering instructions. The book has quite a few images of Macross toys, if you follow the links to the preview of the book you won't see any Macross toys as it only shows the 1st 15 pages and all of the Macross images are at the end. You can see a few images that are in the book in the link to my website below. Robot Book Order Form I have been working on a self published book focusing on toy robots for the past year. I am nearing completion (targeting an April release date). In the mean time check out my website to see some of the images: GreenStPhotography You can also check out my photography businesses facebook page and become a fan to get updates on the book: GreenSt on Facebook
  8. Ok I'm feeling pretty stupid, just got my Ozma and I can't get it to stand in gerwalk mode properly. The feet and ankles seem to floppy and wont hold a position. I can get it to stand without falling over only with the fuselage parallel to the ground. Anyone have any tricks or ideas what I am doing wrong? Is it fairly sturdy in this mode...or does it require delicate balancing? Thanks for any help
  9. Anyone know if the release date has moved, last I saw it was still Nov., that would mean this week.
  10. Does anyone know when the VF-1S will be available without the super/strike parts? How much will those go for?
  11. Just getting back into modeling after about a 10 year break. I decided to start back with Hasegawa's 1/72 VF-1S (actually ordered 2 kits so I could mess up the first one and hopefully do better on the second). Right now I am looking for recomendations on reference books of webpages where I can find color schemes, marings and especially any cockpit detail. I have noticed Macross and Robotech art books on E-bay and was wondering if any of those might have what I am looking for. I am still early in my search, but am hopeing that someone on these forums might be able to point me in the right direction. Andrew
  12. Sorry, didn't mean to post in this forum...must have clicked the wrong forum.
  13. It has been 10+ years since I stopped building models, I recently got the bug again and have decided to undertake building the 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1S. For right now I need some recomendations on materials like glue and putty products. I also am looking for a really good online hobby store (preferably in the US) to order my materials from. Second I need references and line art or pics of the cockpit. Of course general reference material for the AC would be welcome, I have just started looking for reference material and haven't yet figured how I want to represent this AC. Finally I will be using Tamiya acrylic paints, Future, and oil washes for weathering and panel lines. I need recomendations for blends of white for the base paint scheme. Also what are good oil colors for weathering and panel lining this aircraft (I am trying oils for the first time, I used to use enammels). If it helps I will probally pick up these at Michaels (a craft store in the US). And what is a good thinner for the oils. When I stopped modeling I was just starting to get decent at airbrushing and moderate aircraft panel lining and weathering. So I am sure it will take me a while to recover those basic skills. So I bought 2 kits so I could learn on the first one and have a better chance on getting the second one better. I am hoping to post pics on my progress on this forum and get recomendations and tips as I go. So if you see my post feel free to be critical and make suggestions, it is the quickest way for me to get better. Thanks. Andrew
  14. I see your point, and it was something I thought long and hard about, but if you had read some of my desription of the project on my website you would have seen my explanation of why I am doing B&W. One because I am primarily a B&W film photographer, and two when you strip away the bright colors and use the techniques I have employed I feel I can work towards capturing the esssence (souls if you will) of the toy robots. Finally logic and art rarely occupy the same space at the same time. My goal is to produce images that are almost more portrait than anything else. Plus there is no shortage of great images in color of these toys not only here but all over the web, I don't feel that I have anything to add there. I realize this can come across as artsy crap, but hey its my project and frankly I am having a blast doing it. I do realize that not everyone will like the images I produce, but you never can please everyone. Yes I am attempting to use these crazy toys to produce what the art world calls fine art prints, these are not digital images (not that there is anything wrong with digital), they are all film images developed and processed by myself in my own darkroom. I do produce both traditional wet processed silver prints as well as archival digital prints using the finest papers and inks. This is just how I personally like to print my work. What you are seeing on the website and on R-J are scans of the negatives post processed in Photoshop. The other aspect to this project is learning about toy collecting and those who take part. Thus the questionaire, thus I have immersed myself in this world first buy buying and selling the toys on e-bay, then by scouring this forum as well as robot-japn, then by starting to take part and ask questions so I can get smart about the toys so that when I write about them I don't sound like an idiot. This project is both fun and very personal for me. I know it may seem as a little weird and that I am very new to the forum so there is a trust issue. I am hoping to get 5-10 MW forum users to participate and add their story. I welcome any help, suggestions or critiques (good and bad).
