Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.4
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
which reinforces the point that Bandai is 6~7 years behind Yamato in terms of macross products. -
posting in an epic thread! oh god, thanks for bringing that up. good times, good times...

Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
anime52k8 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
this is not a kit by any stretch of the imagination. it's a toy, with lots of small parts. and even if over the lifetime of the toy you spend more time going through the parts swapping process than you do building the model, it still doesn't even come close to how complex the model is. most people who don't want to build the model arn't really concerned with time so much as effort. the model takes a lot of fiddling with tiny parts and complex subasemblies then you have to paint and decal and do a whole list of other things before the model looks even equal to how the VF-100 comes out of the box. and then when it's done it's more fragile. not that I'm defending the VF100 because I'm not. -
:edit: never mind...

trying to win over more ranka fan? I demand the second image larger and without Jpeg artifacts.

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread IV *Read 1st Post*
anime52k8 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I remember the part about Ranka's hair moving because she's 1/4 Zentradi but I still don't see how that ties into Meltran's piloting Q-Rau's. and where did you get the idea that they originally planed to have them pilot the Q-Rau's naked? If you're basing that assertion on the presence of naked Milia; that's just there because for some reason they liked throwing in naked women for scale from time to time back then. prime example: random naked Misa in a EC-33B disk sensor interior drawing. I have no idea why. -

elaborate please, I have no idea what you mean. -
my senior english teach talked about how you would make one of those in class once. (I was taking scifi lit). interesting stuff. anyways, the really important question is, how do you get around a ship that big?
-
more like biker chick with Man-Jaw... creeeeeeepy.

when someone says Macross, you're first thought is usually "oh yeah, VF-1." when someone says Gundam, his first thought is usually "oh yeah, NT-1 Alex."

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
anime52k8 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
well the and the are obvious. the thing on the right I think is an old and I have no idea what the glove and the handheld are. :edit: handheld is a also spoiler tags added, I want to see if anyone else can name these of the top of their head. -
it's very odd that we've never seen the meltran gun destroyer version of the ASS-1 or another ship of it's class, considering we've seen several meltran fleets before. I mean we've seen 2 different SA versions (admitedly both being damaged) of the class and we haven't any SA forces ever.

very cool improvements, overall it looks much more balanced. it's got an interesting shape to it.

the reaction warheads I believe are described as being fusion bombs with pair annihilation, which implies some form of matter/anti-matter reaction. and in macross they probably use direct cycle since it's much lighter and more efficient, and with a pure fusion reactor, you don't have much risk of radiation release anyways so you don't need the heat exchange to contain radiation. kind of off topic, but in the real world Nuclear powered engines didn't work because they couldn't produce enough thrust to counter the massive weight of all the shielding needed to put them on a B-36 sized bomber. would it be possible to scale such an engine up enough to make it work with current day technology? I would think with size weight relative to thrust would be less of a problem.

damn you... that was the most painful thing I've ever heard and I only made it through about 10 seconds.

I know where the cockpit is. Either way, the VF-14 isn't more than a meter off. If we're going by cockpit size, the visible cockpit on the VF-11 isn't that much smaller than how big the cockpit on the VF-14 is if you could see it. anyways; regarding the MAXL: the prime difference is the MAXL is flat out smaller. the approximately 13 meter battroid height on the VF-11 is to the top of the head, not the top of the head laser. if it was to the top of the head laser it would be shorter than a VF-1. the MAXL Kai is listed as 11.24 meters there about. making it close to 1 and 3/4 meters shorter than the VF-11 (not including big phallic head laser). so the guy has it right. anyways, because your so adamant, here's the chart again with your numbers. also I realized I made the other ships a little big in the last chart, so here it is again.
-
first the MAXL kai is supposed to be smaller. more than a meter and a half shorter. and as for the VF-14, the cockpit on it isn't visible anyways, but I think the valk still looks about right. the VF-14 is a BIG plane. and the it looks like for the chart the guy based the size of the VF-14 on the dimensions of the Fz-109.

Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
anime52k8 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
it says macross II. the "another" underneath it probably because it's not part of the official time line and because there isn't a defined year in which MacII takes place other than "around 90 years after SWI" -
that was a typo on my part, I meant to type 3,000 kilometers not 3000 meters http://www.new-un-spacy.com/sdfmacross/factory-satellite.htm the picture is right if you go by the older numbers (which I personally like better)
-
does anyone know how much shipping for the 1/60 v.2's is when ordering from overdrive?
-
http://www.new-un-spacy.com/sdfmacross/fulbtzs-berrentzs.htm yes, I do know that there are 1,000 meters in a kilometer. like I said, I used the number from the M3. I just wanted to turn something out quickly to poke fun at schizo's comment and didn't feel like doing more research than using the number's that are posted with the picture being used.
