Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
anime52k8 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, but by then we'll probably have fighter size laser systems that will render the whole gun vs missile debate moot anyways. -
note on material selling, you can currently sell spinmetal, helium filament, spirit bloom and relic iron. They buy it from you in units of 50. be aware that once you start getting legendary and exotic gear, you will need these materials along with weapon/armor parts and glimmer to upgrade the gear. a single piece of armor will only take one type of material, and will only use it for attack power upgrades. The reason I recommend spinmetal is it's easier to farm large quantities quickly compared other materials do to how much tends to spawn in a small area. I'm hoping that bungie at some point implements further options for buying and selling materials. I've got something like 800 sapphire wire which I can only use on hunter armor and nowhere else. I'd like to be able to sell some of it, as I'm never going to go through all of it.

My take/stratagy on marks and rep: 1: do the random strike playlist: especially Vanguard Tiger. tiger pays the best (6 marks and 25 rep), and the strikes are still super easy to breath through. you can rack up your 100 marks in a couple afternoons, which frees your time up to do other things that will boost your rep. 2: reps are IMO more important than marks. there's no cap to reps you can earn per day or per week, and there's a lot more ways to earn reps. after rank 3, it takes the same number of reps to rank up every time and you get a random piece of gear every time you rank up. if you focus on doing activities that increase rep, you can easily do a couple ranks a week or more. 3: just go play crucible, once your skill tree is about 60% done you're pretty much on par with everyone else in crucible and super common low level guns like shingen-e's are just as dominant as exotic auto rifles because they ignore attack and armor stats. you can earn even more marks, more reps and do more bounties if you do, so you can double the amount of stuff you can earn in a week on one character. 4: if you absolutely refuse to play crucible, do this: go to cosmodrome, and farm for spinmetal and chests while doing patrols and killing mobs. you'll get a lot of loot that way, a fair amount of xp and glimmer, and you can get a ton of spinmetal that you can turn around and sell to the crucible quartermaster. by selling to crucible, you'll gain reps and marks with them while you're already earning the same stuff from vanguard, and you didn't have to play crucible. 5: wait for patch 1.0.2. engram drops will yield better loot, and the daily heroic, weekly heroic, and vanguard tiger will all have the possiblility of dropping legendary gear. all three of those are super easy to do.

I got a purple engram earlier too, it decrypted into exotic gloves. that I can't actually use. because I already have a fully upgrade exotic chest-plate equipped. :P That Brings my current exotic gear count to 8.

So I guess I'm the only one here who thinks the C7 corvette is a great looking car? IMO it's the first Corvette to look legitimately cool and not like a pile of awkward crap since the mid 70's.

SCIENCE MAGIC! I personally like to stab monsters AND shoot them; just to cover all bases.
-
You don't have to use snipers to do the take no damage one.
-
all of the hand cannons have that chiappa/Mateba look.

two points on this. First, you're primary method of getting better gear isn't meant to be through random drops from mobs, it's supposed to be from completing activities. I don't see how it's presumptuous or wrong to expect you to challenge yourself as a player and go after increasingly harder objectives to get better stuff. sitting in front of a cave shooting monsters as they spawn is stupid and cheap and should not reward you in the same way as spending the same amount of time playing a high level strike the raid that takes planing, teamwork and skill. The second and more important point; Destiny isn't an MMO. It was never sold as an MMO and yet people keep insisting on calling it one. Destiny is as much an MMO as GTA online was an MMO. Honestly GTA online is probably the most directly comparable game to Destiny, the big difference being that GTA online is broken and crap. There's no trading because you're supposed to play every class. you're literally skipping two thirds of the game if you only play as one character. again, if you were playing high level activities you would be going through your glimmer. It took probably 10,000 glimmer+ worth of ammo packs to compete the raid. I've hit the cap before, but I've quickly found some reason in game to sink me back to poverty. ok, I'll give you that. Technically you should be breaking down gear to upgrade the stuff you've got, but I'd like to be able to accumulate themed sets and keep a collection of exotic items in storage just to admire. Even if I don't use it, they're still cool to look at.

If were going to get in to how these guns work, explain why it even has a hammer when it clearly has no way of shooting physical bullets. there's no holes in the front of the cylinder, it's clearly completely closed off in the front. and the whole thing apparently runs off some sort of universal battery because when you reload you just shove in what looks like a D-cell into the cylinder. Also, why does Thorn have a hammer at all when the thing shoots green death lasers?
-
I've not run into that yet. All the messages and communication I've gotten out of this game has been questions about gear and people asking me to join their fireteam to do activities. PVP is fun if you have someone to play with. As for leveling, it's pretty easy to hit level 20 without doing up PVP at all, and you don't need to be that kitted out or upgraded to still rock people in pvp IMO. Anyways, the mourning period over the tragic loss of my gun was short and I've moved on to a new favorite weapon. I completed the weekly nightfall strike and got the most gorgeous, badass legendary hand cannon ever out of it. I also picked up Suros Regime from Xur. It's pretty fabulous, but that hand cannon is just... Well, the hand cannon got me through the final two stages of the raid, and I had to carry pretty heavily a couple times. And I also got a pretty cool LMG out of the raid too, although Super Good Advice is still just such a beast.

maybe it'll change color, and it'll be able to have both the pink and the green inner frame.

I find the Chewbacca one really creepy. Like, legitimately disturbing and unsettling to look at. -
Then what's the point of these stupid queens missions? Why would I even bother spending time doing them when all I get is the same two pieces of armor that I can't even use over and over again anyways? do they really think anyone gives a crap about a handful of crap tier guns and ass ugly decorative items? as for he cave farming, they wouldn't have this problem if engrams actually gave you half decent crap every once in a while and if there was a way to get ascendent materials besides playing the single hardest, most difficult to organize activity in the entire game. Thorn is cool, and it's a great prestige piece to wear around the tower, but it's not a go-to primary that I can use on high level activities. the fun of the game was trying ever harder activities, getting ever better gear, but now I just want what I had back, so I'm gonna be stuck playing the same tedious stuff over and over until that happens. And truthfully, I know that even if I play this game for the rest of my life I'm never going to see that gun with that exact combination of random upgrades ever again.
-
I honestly don't think I ever want to play this game again, it's just not fun anymore.
-
I'm the biggest idiot on the planet, I deleted my fully upgraded, 300 attack damage legendary auto rifle.

"Heroic" is a difficulty modifier (think skulls in halo). it means stronger, more aggressive enemies spawn versus regular difficulty of the same level. All story missions can be played as heroic difficulty at any time, just go to the mission you want, and after you choose it click on where the difficulty is displayed (bottom of your screen next to the set destination button), and you can switch to a higher level version of that story mission, all of which include Heroic modifier.
-
were those story missions even that hard?

Well, I just made my first attempt at the Vault of Glass. around 7:30, I got a party invite from a guy I had met earlier that day. I join up and once I entered party chat I find out that they were going to try and open the vault and wanted me to be their 6th man. 6 hours of blood, sweat, tears and dropped connections later, we had managed to get in, clear all 3 stages of the Templar boss fight, get past the gorgons, competed the jumping puzzles and gotten about half way through opening the gate to the final boss before we finally decided we were all to mentally drained to continue and decided to call it a night. I couldn't tell you how many mobs we killed, and I dread to think how many times we died. This was simultaneously the single most challenging, frustrating, infuriating, and utterly satisfying gaming experience I've ever had in my life. we didn't even manage to get to the final boss, and this still feels like a greater accomplishment than any game I've ever played before. It was brutal and we got are asses handed to us repeatedly, but every time we restarted we felt smarter and more confident and every time we finally cleared a checkpoint it was a time for mass celebration. since it's officially Tuesday, all that progress has been whipped, but we plan to start the whole thing over again at the same time tonight. we'll be smarter about it, faster through it, and we'll be able to take breaks and manage ourselves much better. We will beat this. :edit: and if you're wondering, for all that each person got 6 ascendent shards and 1 piece of badass raid gear.

you can also buy exotic engrams from Xur with them. save them for the weekends and spend them on those, exotic gear will do you more good than a fancy cloak.
-
The engram cost motes of light, everything else costs strange coins; two different currencies. if you've got enough for each buy both. Also, buy the engram first, see what you get then buy your armor/weapon. you can't have two pieces of exotic armor equipped on the same character at the same time, so it would be a waste to have two pieces of warlock or two pieces of hunter.
-
that's unfortunate. I've noticed most pulse rifles feel pretty poor for similar reasons plus bad recoil. I'm liking Super Good Advice out of the box. The rocket launcher feels like every other 2 shot rocket launcher in this game. both will really benefit from unlocking their special abilities though.
-
keep turning in regular bounties. every time you do there's a random chance you'll be offered a choice of exotic bounties in return.
