  1. i just switched from dial-up to broadband a few months ago.i only had trouble here on dial-up when i was viewing an image-intensive thread.i think the last few upgrades we had helped that issue a little by shrinking pics to a thumbnail for you to click.that way, full-size images weren't constanly sucking bandwidth and slowing you down to a crawl when you were hanging here.i would guess that those on dial-up here would see improvements, not more issues after an upgrade
  2. hey who was that younger old school member that was obsessed with monsters? he didn't even like the valks, just heavy stuff like the konig monster.he was funny as hell that youngster.i wanna say his user name had "ben" in the title maybe....damn,that's gonna bug the hell out of me.. i wish we saw more of jung too.i always enjoyed following his projects.
  3. what ever happened to jerry tsai from VF1X.com? did he just get sucked into the world of the real people never to return? i know he had a custom car business, but did focusing on that cause him to loose interest in macross? also,i recently hung out with old-school'er chris barretta (codam23) at the last 2 otakons in baltimore.met him by asking about a gundam model he entered into the contest there & soon realized who i was talking too.i burst out-"dude,i used to buy tons of your resin heads & goodies!" he's super-cool to hang with at cons
  4. the pheyos valkyrie.thats the 1 that looks like a manta-ray right? seems that most folks hated that model, but i always thought it was cool.i dig ships and mecha that emulate an ocean creature's fluid lines.
  5. wow, that's awsome work dude.good weathering always amazes me.you have real skill there making max look....used
  6. let's also bring up the fact that unlike here, animated tv shows and movies made in japan have a larger demographic of an adult target audience.yes, some are also targeted at kids & teens, but the U.S. is really the only country that largely markets animated shows & movies towards a mostly youth audience(simpsons, family guy,etc being the exceptions).since this has been the norm here for many decades, society's view as a whole on animation is falsley pre-programmed to catagorize it for kids.as a result, you get these yahoo's that rib ya for watching kiddie toons & the real joke is their unquestioning submission to poor & mishandled animation market brainwash.smart folks would realize you can't pick on a guy for watching anime cause it's childish, when it was made for adults by the original artist in it's country of origin.you can't re-classify a work from adult to children when it's exported to other parts of the world.that's just dumb.
  7. if we were lucky enough to have this carry through to a VT-1 & VE-1 conversions, will the same cockpit & canopy developed for this 1D be used in these? .i think the canopy is slightly different on those,as it bubbles out more on the sides as apposed to the 1D with just a regular VF canopy elongated to accomidate the 2nd pilot.would we go as far as to address this minor detail,or just use the 1D style 1 & be happy to have a VT or VE?
  8. is there actually issues from previous releases addressed in this release of roy's valk,or are they just releasing it for the hell of it? is it valk only or can you get an armoured 1 too?
  9. i've had a few instances of this type of behavior from a few "ignorant & uncultured idiots".i'm getting ready to turn 32 & to stop watching animated shows cause they're childish is just dumb.i don't get much teasing, cause i'm a good sized irishman w/ a short fuse, but anyone i've encountered that rags on someone for enjoying anime, wasn't anybody i'd be trying to impress anyway.if your older buds rag on ya for that, most of the time it's the dumbasses that can't pull a honey no matter what they try anyway,so don't take advice from these "mental giants" dude.don't follow the crowd, always do what you want & watch the honeys flock to you.enjoy.
  10. the vette is surly no ferrari wanna-be.it's looks are pure formula 1 inspired & it's mill is a 400=hp(Z06) wonder of small block engineering.the vette stands in a class by itself.the perfect american thoroughbred.the ford gt40 was designed originally to compete with ferrari in the european races,so that's the ferrari wanna-be culprit.
  11. ok,i hated the thought of this from the beggining.browder & black staring as new characters on stargate sg-1.my first thought was that i't be john chriton in an airforce uniform.i was correct.don't get me wrong,i absolutely loved them on farscape, but they are 2 tottally different shows.don't mix the 2 together.stargate has enjoyed having a dream-team cast for many years now.if it ain't broke, don't fix it.seeing claudia black hang all over michael shanks' character just made me cringe, cause that's not what i'm used to seeing from her.i really am sad to see the show heading this way.although,i do like the addition of lexa doig to the show.she fits in nicely as the doctor & she's a cutie-petutie too. after all these years,i'm gonna stop watching soon if they don't start making better decisions with cast selection, etc.
  12. yeah,i'll agree with you there, but yamato is VERY picky about what they decide to release as a limited edition.it almost never follows what fans are desiring at the time either.the low viz is certainly getting those kinds of numbers $-wise nowadays, but yamato had regular valk prices on them when they were released.i bought mine at otakon '03 & i only paid $140 for it,and thats with con price inflation too.having a little insight to how yamato handles their product line & possible product line for the past few years,i'd be willing to bet $ we never see a giant VF-19A release
  13. ido is correct.if the VF-19A & VF-22 were made using the 1/48 scale, they'd be freeking huge, not more proportionate to the VF-1 series valks.i think i saw an estimate 1 time putting the VF-19A at about 2 feet or more in length in 1/48 scale.that sucker would command a price tag around $300 & yamato won't sell large numbers of something that expensive
  14. i just thought of an idea for you too.find a toy in the toy store that has a window in it's box that's close to the size you need & cannibalize it from that toy's box.yes, buying that toy might be a waste, but if you look hard enough, you might find a really inexpensive item & a much better quality donor window for your box.i still agree with not using any type of glue.that taka box is old now & it's cardboard may not be sturdy enough to handle the diesel-assed glue that's out nowadays.some type of tape WOULD be best, but don't be to generous with it,you don't want it to look all ghetto-fied when your done.
  15. wow andy, judging by the responses here, your gonna need to start a company in your basement to sell these i can just see it now in your basement, little areas for marketing, assembly, shipping & recieving, lunch room for all the workers, warehousing, networked computer databases, organize importation of an overseas workforce to keep costs down, you'll have to quit your day job to manage the business.is your beloved wife aware of the magnitude of the job to bring your little plushie juggernaut to market? will she help you "realize your vision'? dude,i'm sorry,i just couldn't resist
  16. hey rohby, does your job involve CAD or some kind of fabrication work? reason i ask is,in order for pieces to have the quality, fit & finish that yours ALWAYS has consitently, you have to be using some proffessional grade resources there.i realize your artistic vision is the most important part of all your projects.that's what we all love best, but how are you keeping quality, fit & finish of all your stuff so consistent? i noticed how every stage of this JM,even mock-up,just looked proffessional even from it's raw begginings.whatever it is you do for a living my friend-you must be good at it
  17. things are falling into place nicely for our panel.we're gonna have loads of cool stuff to see and this panel always ends up being alot of fun for the audience & presenters,so come by if you can,it's a garenteed good time folks
  18. hey phyrox, no,i'm not sure if that TA was a '70.i just guessed. i'm just starting to get familiar with all the little details of the years & i didn't know the shaker had no letters in '70. what year did they start putting the big bird on the hoods? i know it was there by '73,but when did it start? '72? was the small bird on the nose ther only for '70 & '71?
  19. here's a pic just for "phyrox".i found this on ebay.the orange '72 pontiac formula next to the '70 TA was a rare 455 version of the formula.i think only a few of these was made w/ the 455 for '72.i love the formula, but man,i hate it in this orange
  20. well,we have to wait till they assign us a slot.doesn't seem like the panelists get to much say on their timeslot,at least not the small fries.i'm just happy we get to do it again this year,so ANY slot is fine with me.we'll tell you guys ASAP soon as we hear,so you can arrange to be there for us.
  21. yeah, super nice job there rohby.that little guy is very cool.i don't really have much love for JM"s either, but i am drooling over that 1
  22. i agree with the weight issue "yellowlightman".i know alot guys who are into custom vw's & alot of them that did the VR6 conversion into their older A2 golfs were disappointed when they were fast as hell, but handled like doo-doo.too much wieght up front for a car designed to perform & handle well with a lighter mill.i believe wolkswagen corrected this when they released the R32.the special suspension & all-wheel-drive i believe, fill all the earlier shortcomings of having a big VR6 mill in such a small platform. i think it depends largely on what you have too.i'm a little into performance dragboats too & really, large displacement torque is the order of the day when it come to fighting the resistance of water.wieght always comes into play, but can be offset alot by a shrewd hull choice.a 19-22' catamaran (tunnel) style-hull w/ a blown bigblock chevy & an american turbine jet outback will put you well into the 100mph range & smoke just about anyone who challenges you.the way the hull interacts with the water will decide how she handles.tunnel hulls slice through chop & allow alot of air to be channeled underneath to mix with the water, thus eliminating alot of drag. small engines like what's powering the WRX will get alot done on pavement, but try to use that mill in a boat, hehehehe, you won't have to worry about your hair catching on fire, that's for sure.if the big, torquey V-8's fade from the street,i'll bet you'll always find 1 easily on the water. just click that thumbnail below and enjoy that nasty kat.
  23. just goes to show you, don't laugh at the old dude rockin' the plaid pants,he might have a super-phat pimp mobile like this that'll put your bucket to shame.gettin' flashed by all the hotties as he rolls by
