@jenius I really like my VF-1A in battroid. So wasn't thinking of scarifying that. Now that you mention it, I do have a few other valk that is in permanent fighter mode. Most of them have the wrong color but I think the VE-1 color is close enough. Thanks, will try it out.

I have just realized that the vf-1j strike does not comes with a neck cavity filler. I have been spoiled with all my other hi-metal R vf-1. The big gap does look bad in comparison. I fish out my fext owl accessory box and uses that one. But it does not fill the gap near the chest.

@Lolicon Really nice work. I finally found one of this and it is now at the FJ warehouse. Can't wait to get it here. But I will not have the skill to touch it up like you. May I ask if you are using airbrush to add shadow to the panel line? I can't imagine pull off such a fine line consistently and accurately enough to produce such result. I might try to use some grey chalk to add some smoke like smudge along the panel line. Not sure if that will work well.

This is weird. Mine is from Umeda shop, are yours from another shop/location? Maybe mine is actually surface mail. There is not mention of shipping type in the order confirmation, expect a reply/remark to my request for surface mail saying: only DHL is available now. (Found the shipping method: DHL worldwide express)

I can't. resist the low price. Was planning to ask for surface shipping. But they said no, just DHL. I am happy that it is not super expensive. I remember SAL small packet for similar sized item cost about the same as what they are asking for DHL now. I am sure they absorb a bit part of the DHL cost.

I did ask for refund for my VF-4 on NY. They refunded with no fuzz.

Just ordered an item from Mandrake. They only allow DHL shipping now. No other options. But it cost only 1350 yen to ship a HMR vf-1s strike. That seem very low price for DHL, I was surprised.

Good to know that the kit is not too much trouble. I hate the cockpit too. Saw this guy that uses the alternative resin cockpit : Yup, the kit is nowhere to be found now. I think your approach of kit bashing it the sensible way forward. Adding light does make the kit so much nicer. When I was a kid, I love this ship to dead. Memory of the show faded, but not my love of this ship. Looking forward to see your completed work. -

Me too. @tekering is that the Tsukuda Monogram kit? I have that in storage. How was the build? With these old kits, I expect a lot of work to get it to looks as good as yours. They are going for insane prices. -
That method works most of the time, I use glue applicator that can delivery controlled amount of the floor polish to a targeted spot. Avoid the trouble of risk of disassemble if you have just this one goal in mind.

Really nice! Did the tabs and boosters crack cause by the paint or painting process? I am curious if the agressive solvent in the paint can cause this kind of problem. The missile doors can be masked quite easily if you have some masking tape hanging around. The modeling type have low tack so will not lift paint when time come to remove them. But if you don't have those, the normal hardware store type can also work. Just stick it on some surface and remove them a few time to reduce the tack. And don't leave them on the painted plastic for too long. -

It is. I just missed the boat. Not smart enough to preemptively pay the full price. I am really just looking for a showpiece. The alternative is to buy the MG kit, the resin upgrade kit and the back pack resin kit. That in itself will be close to $300. Then I will need to spend months building and painting it. Maybe it will be nicer overall. But I really don't feel like doing that when I can buy one of these.

If you do buy this and swap out the wrong leg armor, I would be interested to buy the broken back pack + wrong armor unit from you if the price is ok. I have some batter damaged customization project in mind.

I am still very bumped out to missed the metal club JG sazabi. Been trying to find if there is anyone still selling even with some markup. But found nothing below $400. Pinged Showz and they finally replied yesterday saying that they did ordered a second batch and they are waiting for development. So I think it is unlikely that any new item will be made. The factory and mold would most likely be gone forever.

+1 There might be enough space to drill some tiny holes to insert two small pins. Or at least drill some holes to let the glue flow into and provide extract strength.

It is the wave (should be 1/100 If I remember correctly) model. Maybe their scale is not spot on or mostly like it is due to my camera angle. I have the vf-1a wave 1/100 sitting around somewhere. When I build that up, will compare that to the HMR size and see if that one have correct scale.

I did ship 1/48 Milia, 1/48 super strike pack, 1/60 VF-1 with super strike pack and a 1/60 tomahawk from FJ using EMS awhile back. Cost me 11200 yen.

Could it be that Tomahawk is popular in the west (read outside of Japan) but in Japan (or the market segment that Bandai care about) is not as popular? One of my first plastic model is the the imai 1/72 Tomahawk, the design is some significant for me that I will buy a couple of the HMR version if they are released. Come on Bandai, let the next HMR be this.
