About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Check out the MF website. There's one there. Also, I bet you're loving the VF-1D on the cover. Go GERWALK go! (Wait... is that Minmei in hand?) -
About the Macross Chronicles

FINALLY! DYRL? MII? Interested. Not drooling, but curiousity piqued. Info on a DVD release of the reanimated content??? THIS has me drooling in anticipation. Sadly, the preview of it on the Macross F site looks like it won't have near enough information on it's story... will the reverse include information on the hero carrier in VF-X2? Hopefully. -
I think you're overthinking it. The only clear facts are that the Stage 1 thermonuclear turbine engines are quite small, and conventional engines (albiet over-tuned) are comparatively larger. The fuel supplies for both are also smaller for the former, and larger for the later. Therefore, a conventional engine using VF has to be significantly larger. Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie has a nice comparative illustration of the three craft (the VF's & the F-14) on page 025 which highlights the needed engine nacelle size. Anyhow, I hate to be the wet blanket, but shouldn't this off-topic conversation take place in another thread? Such as the Chronicle discussion thread?
-
The VF-0 is that size precisely because of the conventional engines and their required fuel. Even with those tanks on the upper fuselage, it has an extremely limited combat range. The VF-1 is as small as it is, because it was designed to go into hand to hand combat with the alien giants. Source: I can't remember which one, but one of the links off of here: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/p...ranslations.htm (probably one of the Great Mechanics issues)

Finished the VF-4 Lightning III sheet: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37738#msg37738 The original is a little big vague in some spots (especially in the parts regarding in-atmosphere performance), but I'm happy that there's another nugget of info in the text: comfirmation of the ram jet engine (though it is called a ram-wing...) Anyhow, it's nice to have something that's only appeared in canonicity debated publications to be confirmed. Mr.March, you'll pleased to learn that the VF-4 is actually considered slightly "large" for a VF. I'm not sure if the translation conveys it, but I get the sense of there being a lot of internal fuel tanks. The option of replacing the entire upper section of the engine nacelle is also eyebrow raising. Shades of a VT-1's FAST pack, perhaps? Though it makes me wonder what weapon it'd rely on instead of the beam guns. A gun pod mounted on a hardpoint?

It happened again, yesterday, in the 22:00 to 25:00 time frame (all times JST). >.<

Started on the VF-4 Lightning III: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37738#msg37738 (currently only data block and armaments) I've found it interesting that the armaments are: a) worded in such a way that it doesn't preclude optional armaments (gun pod in Digital Mission VF-X, wing missiles, etc) b) that the total number of missiles is still "disputed"! (Though, it could also be interpreted as there being missiles carried internally, that launch from the same spots as the semi-embedded missiles. Yes, it's that vague). c) that the beam guns can detach, and "light weight" atmospheric use armaments can be placed there (such as the 30 mm 6-barrel Gattling guns as mentioned on the Japanese wiki: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/VF-4 )! This page has really piqued my interest and has me wondering if there are other surprises...

Yesterday (that'd be 2010.03.13 JST; same for all following times), Macrossworld was not accessible for the following periods: 11:00~12:30. The log in page, as well as main forum index would load. But the recent posts and any of the sub-forums would not open (thus giving the impression that the problem was related to the database and not the site in general). 21:00: able to access the website and content. However, there was a delay "significantly" longer than normal during the initial accessing of the site and the recent posts. 24:00+ unable to access the website (the endless loading of death. The "unable to access website" prompt didn't appear. Today (that's 14:00): no problems.

Nah. What's funny is the mincing and dicing over the finer nuance of words that have been translated. Original term -> translation (half the nuance and meaning disappears, sometimes more) -> English term -> interpretation (with more than half the nuances and meaning stemming from the user's diction). So, the end result is something containing only a quarter of the original's nuanced meaning!

Yeah, what he said. The images that they're releasing pre-publication are probably works in process. -
The FB related history sheet in the latest Macross Chronicle adds a little bit. Basically it says Minmei (and presumably the rest of the Megaroad 1 fleet) were erased from the galaxy. I haven't looked over the paragraph in depth, but the use of the term erased itself is interesting. As if Kawamori personnally brought out his pink pearl.

Drat! Darn particles and prepositions! Yes, "to a tenth". Who cares about the dialogue - go with a translation: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g35077#msg35077 (scroll down to super fold booster) -

Forgot this: VF content on glossary sheet #21: VF-1, VT-1, VT-1C, VB-6 (F), VB-6 (other), Pheos Valkyrie. Other noteable content: V-Virus, Feff, Fold Quartz, Fold Booster, Fold Wave Amp (?!?!?!), Fold Speaker, Fold Cell (?!?!), Fold Dislocation, Fold Pack (apparently they are a VF-25 option pack specifically designed for use with the Super Fold Booster), Black Rainbow (for the win!), Planet Dance, Furiijia (one of the Milky Dolls), Bridget Spark (VF-X2 operator). -

Fixed and the response: Given Kawamori's statement that the Macross universe in the 2040's to 2060's is undergoing "the great age of exploration, with e-mail", Freiflug88's statement makes a lot of sense. Of course, the Macross universe will be changing once again, with the implimentation of that super fold booster, introduced in MF when they brought Ranka to Garia, that cuts travel times by a tenth... -

Indiana Jones V - in development
sketchley replied to Vermillion21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
4 wasn't bad. The problems I had with it were more the appearance of opponents that weren't really developed. Even with a second viewing, I didn't really understand who they were or why they cared about what the heroes were doing (the one's at the grave site, and the one's behind the waterfall). Otherwise, it was exactly the kind of movie I expected an Indian Jones movie to be: fun, exciting, mysterious and bad guys getting their comuppances. So, hearing that there's going to be a 5th film, makes me happy. Just promise me one thing: NO 3D!- 52 replies

About the Macross Chronicles

#43 contents rundown: Summary: a lot of juicy bits in this one. Mechanic: SDFM UN 04c: VF-1 (tawny; landing gear and headlaser) SDFM UN 09b: SDR-04-MkXII Phalanx (extra report on the Defender, and what I think says that it's mass production was difficult, thus the transfer to the Phalanx) SDFM Zent 05c; Noputi Baganisu 5631 (hanger, micron capsule, hover platform, Rigadoo seating, small munitions room, rifle, and post SWI micron conversions) FB UN 02a: VF-4 Lightning III (weapons: two large beam cannons, 12 long-range semi-conformal missiles; reverse has a lot of M3 content; which isn't surprising as that's the only place that the VF-4 showed up with dynamic animation) M+ UN 03c: VF-11B Thunderbolt (front and back: transformation) M7 UN 09b: Macross 7 Fleet (Amusement Ship Hollywood, UN Forces Training Ship Beginhill, Research Experiment Ship Einstein, Agriculture Ship Sunnyflower, and Mark Twain) MII UN 01b: VF-2SS Valkyrie II (front SAP system, rear transformation) Character M7 UN 05a: Gadget M Chiba (with staff on reverse) DYRM UN 04a: Makushimirian Jiinasu (with 2 picks in Meltran uniforms on the reverse!) Timeline #51: up to first time Ranka's singing was used against the Vajra. History: FB 01a: Rin Minmei Farewell Concert (nothing on the launch of the Megaroad 01. Perhaps there will be a 02 sheet?) Technology 12a: Spacesuits (front: intro, and special use VF suits: YF-21 & VF-17; reverse: space suits by era (pict of the M0 suit, but only covered in passing): 2009-2011, 2040, and 2040-2050. As well as other space suits (destroid, Misa's Mars adventure suit, and the 2059 deck crewperson's suit). Zentraadi (standard and armoured, as well as Klan's Pixie squad suit) are in an extra report). Worldguide: 01a: Earth UN Government (groovy picture of Island Cluster class SLRE Fleets in orbit on front. Reverse is about the history; which is mostly about the formation of the UN Government.) 08a: Vajra (front has an extra report on technology based on the Vajra (picts of the Macross Quarter firing it's main gun, and the Tori No Hito), reverse is... well... a (limited) part breakdown of the red Vajra stage. AN extra report on the large (red) Vajra performance compared to a VF-171 (surprisingly it says the VF-171 has a better fold ability!), as well as a section on the special features (fold wave network lifeform, existance of a "queen", egg and larval stages, high degree of fighting ability (I'm most interested in this subsection, as it's talking about beam guns and missiles). Next issue's preview has the following pictures: screen grabs: Shirubii Jiina Shibiru ADR-03-MkIII Cheyenne VA-1SS Metal Siren painting: VF-9 Cutlass and VF-14 Vampire Interesting that the VF-9 is getting a full page, but the VF-14 didn't. Hmmm... is it because of the appearance of the VF-9 in manga form in Macross Ace? Or is it because they're going to show both the VF-9 AND the VF-X-10 from Advanced Valkyrie? -

Grr... $55.82 USD = $57.650 CAD. $100 Fiji Dollars sounds more like.
