  1. I think it was in SDFM early on... like the first episode or so when the Zentradi attacked and the ARMD platforms retaliated.
  2. Wha?!?! I need to go out and grab that DVD ASAP. Didn't know it was out... been waiting a long time for those videos to come out on DVD. (BTW, for those who don't know, Leiji Matsumoto - Galaxy Express, Harlock, etc - does the Daft Punk videos in question)
  3. Yamato wins, hands-down. 1/48s are THE best Valkyries available. 1/60s are excellent pieces. I don't actually own a MPC, or have handled one, but from what I've seen of them, I'd probably but the Banpresto before them! And as for FAST Packs, Yamato once again wins. Excellent build, great detail on the 1/48s. The 1/60s are nice as well.
  4. Updated list: (will be effective on Dec. 25... getting the Hikaru -1S for Christmas ) 3 1/48s 2 1/48 FAST Pack Sets 4 1/60s 0 1/72s
  5. Hase should get on the ball and start releasing some GERWALK kits! (IMO) I mean, the low vis fighter is great and all, but I'm basically gonna be doing that anyway with my Hase DYRL fighters... Maybe the new low-vis has a different cockpit or something (maybe more TV-version or something)?
  6. Yeah, but doesn't Hase already have those extra decal sets with Low Vis markings and insignia?
  7. I was under the impression that the Cat's-Eye is/was the AWACS bird, while the VE-1 functions in the reconnassaince and EW roles... more often in the line of fire than the Cat's-Eye (hey, the VE-1 could use a GU-11 in Battroid or GERWALK, right?)
  8. Look on the left wing (aircraft's left, that is) - you can see that there is a z-buffer problem and the lower polygons are showing through... ... looks to me like a backface culling problem - I can never remember which state is which, but you want it so that backfaces are not drawn. If the normals on the wings are correct, then you shouldn't really see anything poking through... Also, try not only snapping the verts, but also welding them. I'm sure you already know this, but you should always try to maintain a continuous mesh whenever possible. Z-buffer (depth rendering, sort of) problems can arise otherwise in many cases (polygons begin to show through, appear "meshed" with jagged edges in each other, etc) Wireframes could also help us find the problem, since then we could actually see how you constructed the wings...
  9. Awesome! IMO, the only change you should have made was to have the canopy up...
  10. Don't the Hawegawa kits also have 6 wing hardpoints instead of 4 (3 on each wing instead of 2)? Yes. And the Hase weapons set doesn't have any tandem racks for RMS-1s. However, the loadouts are supposed to remain the same on the Hases (i.e., six RMS-1s, four UUM-7 pods, four triple racks of AMM-1s)
  11. Yeah, might want to be careful with oven cleaner - news post over at Arnie's Airsoft a while back warned against using such substances on the cheaper metal alloy aftermarket parts to remove paint and other coatings... http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/beta/html/m...order=0&thold=0
  12. Hey, we might have the same model... I've been working on my 1/72 XB-70 for a while - a really crappy kit, its taken me quite a bit of puttying and sanding, and it still has some problems. It has raised panel lines and I was planning on scribing new ones as you suggested, as well - though at this point I'm going to be scribing entirely new lines for quite a bit of the aircraft as I kinda sanded a bunch of in my preparataions earilier (unavoidable, due to the location of some of the major seams in the model) I would be nearing completion of the model now, but it got too dang cold outside to continue work out there and I don't have an indoor steup right now, so it'll just have to wait...
  13. If only Yamato would knock one of those extra zeros off of the price for the helmets and shoulderpads/backpacks... Of course, they technically can charge whatever they want, since they're the only ones making it (or anything like it at all, really), but there's always a point at which a price is just TOO MUCH!
  14. A little short, but definitely kicks ass. Beginning work on modding it now... (already have put bullet-drop ballistic effects in and tweaked damages and ROFs of most of the weapons... I should be getting Maya 5 within the next week or two and will start on new weapons then...) BTW, the discussion about specs necessary: my setup currently is- AMD Athlon XP 2600+ GeForce4 Ti 4400 (128MB) 512MB PC3200 RAM I only run MP2 at 1024x768, but all of the details are basically maxed out. Performance is very good, didn't bother to ever check my framerate, but I had no slowdowns at all (well, besides shootdodging and bullet time... )
  15. Nothing, anymore. When it first came out it was really cool, a fairly fresh concept. Shortly thereafter the whole thing went nose-down... increased immaturity of players, the realisation that its really not very realistic at all even though it is often made out to be realistic, too much publicity, etc. A lot of us are still trying to figure out why so many people still play cs. I guess they are just that oblivious to everything else, or are so immature that they can't tolerate any other gaming community.
  16. Been a while since I looked over the "other" forums here... should've jumped in earlier, especially since I've noticed the talk of Airsoft by several people. In response to the quote above: you're forgetting the core Airsoft gun which forms the backbone of all skirmishers' loadouts. I'm talking, of course, about the AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). AEGs are select-fire (except for the PSG-1) and rely on NiCd or NiMH battery backs for power. The battery drives a motor connected to a gearbox, which ends up driving a piston back which is then released and slams forward due to a highly-compressed spring either inside of or attached to the piston. AEGs can look HIGHLY realistic, but don't function as realistically as GBBs. Metal body kits are abundant for the main types of AEGs (Armalites and H&K's) and produce a very convinving replica. Probably the best Airsoft website for the English-speaking world is Arnie's Airsoft, based in the UK, but covering worldwide Airsoft news, offering numerous articles and reviews, and more: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk In addition, a few other notes on the types of Airsoft guns: GBBs can not only be semi-auto, but also select-fire. The KSC TMP, Maruzen MP5K, and KSC G18C are just a few examples. The KSC Beretta M93r even has a three-round burst capability. Also, different companies offer various GBBs suited for a variety of purposes. KSC and TM GBBs are intended more for skirmish use, often lacking trademarks and having a less-realistic finsh, but being powerful and reliable. WA (Western Arms) produces the highest-quality GBBs. The finishes are amazing, though most are more suited to be display pieces than anything else (though certain models are very skirmish-viable). KJW (Kuan Ju Works) produces cheap copies of TM (and now KSC) GBB pistols which are of moderate quality but lower price. They are also suited primarily for skirmish use, much like the "originals." KWC is yet another manufacturer of gas guns, primarily mid-level guns, though recently new GBB/NBB rifles have been announced by KWC. There is also another category of gas-powered Airsoft guns (mainly pistols) - NBBs, or non-blowbacks. These guns use the same gas as GBBs, but do not recoil the slide. While this is less realistic, these guns are quieter, generally cheaper, and more reliable due to the lower number of moving parts. Spring-powered, single-shot weapons are generally known as springers, though this term really only applies to the lower-grade weapons. In addition to the run-of-the-mill low-powered, moderate-quality springers, there are also Airsoft sniper rifles which are powered by a similar but more advanced and powerful spring-cocking system. However, these spring sniper rifles are beginning to lose ground to newer high-power, gas-powered bolt action rifles, such as Tanaka's Kar98K.
  17. Themes for what, exactly? LiteStep? Linux? Windows? I plan on working on a Macross LiteStep theme eventually, but I never seem to have the time...

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

It's about damn time! Really, though, I don't mind the wait as long as I know a great product is coming.... like the 1/48 -1J and now the GBP as well!
  19. That reminds me... I also have a Badger 200 (NH, bottom feed) and only have the medium tip/head/etc for it. The problem is, nowhere around here carries any Badger parts - know anywhere decent to get a fine tip/head/needle/etc online? (I've looked around but didn't find anything...)
  20. Blackaces already posted it a few days ago... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...t=ST&f=4&t=1878 And as for "finally some enemy mecha" - didn't the Gashapon Mission 2 figures include Regults?
  21. Finally able to get the HW source... so I will be working on getting everything set up and ready to go in the next week. Expect a status report in the TC forums with my findings and plans...
  22. Nope, not at all... I don't even have a copy of HW2. Check for news on the forums: http://www.doc34thfist.com/macross I was planning on releasing a patch to version 1.35 about 2 weeks ago, but my testers still aren't finished with it yet (about half done, the lead tester has much less time to test now) - in addition, the FTP that I was using as an additional file mirror (and to transfer for team dev files) is down, and I don't want to release a partially-tested patch on a major file server system like FilePlanet. So everyone just has to sit tight before they can play UNS SP virtually bug-free (might be some lingering issues, though...) I've also been trying to download the dang source for HW, which was released recently, but to no avail. The file server system that RDN uses is one of (if not the) worst I have ever heard of or dealt with. Once I finally get the code, I will begin looking into major improvements for the HW TC, presumably while Lestat and the others get started on HW2 project(s).
  23. I am planning on building at least one Hase VF-1J (more if I can get some), but right now my skills are too poor (mainly out of practice after several years, also moving onto newer/better techniques) for me to "use up" my Hase Valks right now. The -1J is my favorite VF-1 model, actually...
  24. Arms look the same to me... might compare it to my -1S (using various reference points), but right now I'm too tired and lazy to go and get it. It's probably the new hands that cause the arms to look bigger, combined with the angle of the shots. Plus, I highly doubt Yamato would make such a major design change in the 1/48 in enlarging the arms (this would also undoubtedly affect the legs as well for fighter mode, and would lead to many necessary changes in design) So it's probably just you (though the pic angles and hands are probably to blame as well)
  25. One other reason for a fully-variable craft such as the Valkyrie has been hinted at by many responses, but not directly mentioned: logistics. Why have several different destroids with varying integral weapon systems in addition to air/space fighting craft and their repsective munitions, when you can instead have one all-purpose system, the Valkyrie? The Valkyrie's main armament, the 55mm GU-11 gunpod, establishes a single standard munition for land and space/air combat. So you don't have to worry about securing quantities of various munitions (differing calibers, varying missiles for the Destroids' various missile racks, etc) In addition, the Valkyrie is semi-modular when put together with its other weapon systems (primarily the FAST packs and GBP-1S armor), as well as being able to use a wide variety of conventional munitions for fixed-wing aircraft, making it even more multi-purpose. Having such an all-purpose unit maximizes the commonality of supply/logistics requirements for frontline units in all theatres.
