  1. This appears to be a follow on from last months article dealing mainly with the VF-25. There are also some up close shots of the Revoltech YF-19 & 21, some Mospeada figures (one even claims to be a scoop), a few shots of the Patlabour El Cheapo Ingram (with a cockpit shot) and some detail shots of the Appleseed figures including the new ESWAT team memeber. If anyone is interested give me a yell and I'll put them up.
  2. Are you using decals or stickers. Two TOTALLY different mediums with totally different requirements. Decals need to be applied to a smooth gloss surface to prevent the "silvering" that occurs around the edges, hence why some people use future floor polish as the acrylic layer it leaves gives the best surface for the decal to adhere to. As decals are considerably thinner than stickers they conform to the surface better and don't lift off with time. You can just finish them off with some sort of clear as a protective coat and also to blend in with the gloss or matte finish of the model. I find Vallejo works quite well. Stickers tend to lift with time as they are thicker and don't conform to the surface as well as decals, especially when there are panel lines involved. Usually you have to use an additional adhesive to make sure they dont lift. PVA glue (watered down or straight) works best for this. Just put a thin coat around the edge of the sticker and it dries clear and forms a skin between the sticker and the model. Once it has dried just coat it with clear (matte of gloss) to even out the surface. Just be careful as some solvent based clears may eat the PVA so stick with water based clears.
  3. So you seem to think that being fat and working behind a register means that you have no modelling skills. Don't waste your money buying anymore kits as I reckon they'll be beyond you.
  4. There are a couple of Macross adds in the mag but they are for the Revoltech Max, Millia & Regult with a release date of 15 May and one showing the Yamato 1/60 YF-21 in Fighter, Gerwalk & Battroid modes but I can't make out any dates on this one.
  5. Got the latest edition of Figure Oh today and thought people might be interested in the Frontier article.
  6. Here's my take on the kits. Due to the overwhelming amount of kits I've settled on HGUC (High Grade Universal Century) 1/144 kits for all the variants and MG kits for the main versions. The HGUC kits are reasonably detailed, quite cheap and don't take up as much space when completed. The older 1/144 non HG kits are a bit ho-hum but then if you want to have a complete set you have to go with some of the older kits (they are dirt cheap which helps offset the lack of detail). Gundam 00 kits are just called HG or FG as it isn't in the Universal Century but they are the quality. The MG 1/100 kits are pretty good with heaps of details and parts but are fairly large in some cases and to do them justice you really need to take your time with them. The EX kits are really high detail kits that require full painting and all the tricks in the book to do them properly. Their scale varies depending on the subject but they are usually restricted to support vehicles and space ships. I think the Hildolfr is the only mecha in that range. If you want a challenge then get the 1/400 Mussai or White base. They are absolutely huge! I haven't started on mine as I've got nowhere to put the finished models
  7. Looks like a pile of crap made up by some bored, underworked, statistical pencil necks that don't have a clue. Was anyone on this site actually surveyed to get the results or did the they just use their "great internet savy" to make up the numbers?
  8. I wouldn't say it's like Last Exile apart from the old world feel. It looks like it's going to be an adventure tale along the lines of some of the old time boy's own tales that used come out of the UK in the 40's & 50's. I rather liked the first episode. It flowed well and didn't skip around leaving great holes that made you think "WTF" just happened as some shows tend to do these days. A blonde lead is a bit of change too.
  9. Loved it. Great sound track, good mecha for the most part, prefer it to Mac+ any day.
  10. Have to agree with PetarB. Not bad but without some better in focus pics they look pretty ordinary. For that amount of time I would have expected some better basing but that's me. If you're happy with them, then that's all that matters.
  11. I voted for Roblowtech but I feel just about any dub is a hack. I never listen to the dubs if I can help it as I feel that US voice actors (especially the girls) just don't have the vocal range to get across the meaning of the lines like the Japanese do. I feel they tend to over do it which spoils it for me plus as I'm not american the less american accents I have to hear the better
  12. Just lately I've become hooked on Momoi Halko Just can't seem to stop playing her songs. So much energy and she really puts everything into her performances. Solo or with Under 17, just give me more
  13. Damn we'll have to change the opening song of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Keanu Reeves was ill the day the earth stood still I don't think so!
  14. Nice pics but I don't remember them having pencil necks in the anime Glad I got to see them close up before I brought any.
  15. Thanks for the comments.. The magnetic bases are made by Hobby Base. I got mine from HLJ.
  16. Thought I'd jump on the bandwagon so here's a few shots my humble collection of Macross and various other goodies. All 1/60 Valks except for the Bandai's & Toynami's on the second shelf. Close up of the top shelf Close up of the second shelf Close up of the 3rd shelf Close up of the bottom shelf. Only have 3 1/48's (prefer the 1/60's ) Here's my fridge combat zone. Here's a few non Macross figures for those who like something different. Patlabor, Last Exile, Thunderbirds, Gunslinger Girl, Ikki Tousen, Appleseed, Intron Depot, Suzumiya Haruhi and few others. Finally some more Patlabor and a Mad Dog.
  17. Gee I feel like a heretic I've only watched it twice. The original when it first became available and a fan sub a few weeks back. Sorry but can't see the point in watching it a zillion times as there's plenty more anime that needs watching.
  18. Wonder how long this last before the all stifling Games Workshop ask them to pull it.
  19. Thanks to those who answered my question about ZZ in the now locked thread. I'm starting to get a bit sick of pain in the arse kids who won't do as their told and seem to think multi million dollar mechs are toys to be used as they seem fit so I might give ZZ a miss and jump straight to Char's Counterattack.
  20. I'm just about to finish Gundam Zeta (yeah I know a bit late but at least I've watched it). I have Char's Counter Attack but I need to know if it's really neccessary to watch ZZ beforehand. For what I can gather ZZ is a bit of a departure from the traditional structure of the series but is it important to watch it to keep the continuity? Thanks in advance. Greg
