How much higher does everyone's totals go once we start including the misc. add-ons we put into our Yammies, such as: * Aftermarket stickers or decals * Panel-lining materials * Sealants, etc. * Recasted heads, different colored visors, different or repainted pilots, underarm/side armor, etc. Obviously for customs, the costs are higher. But here, I'm just talking about the little details we add to make a BASIC Yammie look a little bit cooler. As for me, I'll probably be somewhere around the US$1,000 mark after I get the YF-19.

"We figure we've got three months before they sue us for using the characters....." Always guaranteed to get a good laugh out of these eps. Hope they keep making these for awhile. "Fast and cheap," huh? Are they talkin' about her fighting style or her lifestyle?

All stickers. I haven't applied waterslide decals for almost 20 years now (on model airplanes and cars). I wasn't very good back then, and I know I'm just too lazy to apply them properly now (doing all the coatings and everything else).

There wasn't anything really TOO major, but here's a list: 1) Repainted the yellow tips of the nukes black; 2) Created the design for the Fast Pack emblem; 3) Came up with the Ace Card scheme with the Fast Packs (works in both Battroid and Fighter); and 4) Requested different color-schemes for a bunch of the stickers from the standard Low Viz set (red "No Step" stickers, black "UN SPACY" stickers instead of white or grey, just to name a few). A few additional pics in fighter mode (w/out FPs) and a couple of additional close-up shots as requested (Sorry about the flash on these; I tried to touch up the photos as best I could): [attachmentid=38994][attachmentid=38993][attachmentid=38995][attachmentid=38996] [attachmentid=38997]....Guess I had some serious BSG withdrawal going when I did this one.

Not sure if I did enough for this to qualify as a full-on custom, but I'll let mechamaniac make the decision: Link "Black Aces" Stealth Custom or "Sliver Red Aces" Stealth Custom ("sliver" as in a small sliver or hint of red in the spade). Links to (Posts #736 and 738) better pics (Post #19).

Thanks for the compliments, LSB. I gotta give props to Devin, though: he was VERY accomodating with all the little custom alterations and additions I asked for (like modifying the standard Low Viz set so that all the "No Step" and "Danger" stickers were in red, for example). ...And don't be so quick to say "never"........link.

Not sure if Kish' is putting any finishing touches on this, but this "little" custom should definitely be added somewhere in the gallery: Linky

Thanks for the review and pics Graham! I'm glad that you pointed out most of the main flaws and issues in your review. I always enjoy an honest and fair critque. Plus, I'd rather learn about the flaws now, before I have to discover them on my own. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Heck, I already know what my first pose and pic will be of the YF-19. So, what would be the "home remedy" for fixing the off-center gunpod? Also, how long before we start seeing the aftermarket stickers for the bird?
-
So, is there gonna be a clock ticking down to the review ala the TV show, "24"? [Jack Bauer-style] Do it! DO IT NOW!! [/Jack Bauer-style] But seriously, is it too early to ask who's gonna be making the aftermarket stickers and/or decals (and how soon)? P.S.--Have fun, ruskiiVFaussie. Remember to take copious pics of your YF-19 birds.

The board usually generates the thumbnails automatically when I upload my pics. But then again, I'm usually uploading pics directly off my hard drive and onto the message board. ...........After seeing your pics above, I'm reminded that I should pop the X-Wing (the one for the 3.75 inch figures) onto a flexi and take a few snapshots.

Hopefully, it'll be Revy and the "Manslayer" that have the field day with those guys. Payback's gonna be a bee-yotch.

There's a few other things we DO know: ...Fast Packs and Fold Booster are supposed to come out sometime in the first half of 2007 (Feb. or April '07 if my "I'm too lazy to check back of few pages on this thread" memory serves me correctly) ...And we're all gonna die...........eventually. Just sit tight; I'm sure there's a bunch of guinea pigs (including yours truly) that'll give you 2nd release waiters all the feedback you want once we get our hands on the YF-19 in the next few weeks.

Considering how "meh" the animation for the Alphas and Invid appear on the trailer, they won't have to spend too much to make the toys "animation-accurate." No panel-lines (heck, no panels to begin with!), slap a bunch of blocky objects together, and Boom! Instant product! But knowing how HG and Toynami have been operating (based on their past histories), HG will delay their DVD release until mid-April, Toynami will starting marketing the toys in May (with a late-June projected date), Toynami will actually release the toys in August, but they won't update their website with images of the new toys until late October. Sound about right? And yet, the Beta remains a pipe dream. Looks like I'm gonna be stuck with my current avatar for a few years......

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
Mog replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hrmf, missile barrages should not look like wildly arching "laser"-shots. Just my own personal opinion. But to each his own. -
Finally got to see the trailer on the big screen (Mann's Chinese to be exact). And somehow, the black suit comes off a hell of a lot better, particularly in those early scenes where Spidey is jumping around the tops of buildings. Don't know if the reason is because of the digital projectors at the Chinese or if it's just a byproduct of seeing the trailer on the big screen (as opposed to watching the trailer from my computer screen).

Saw the movie last night. Anyone else feel like the pacing of the last third of the movie felt “off It just felt like the movie had too many endings. Like a scene would feel like an ending sequence, and then, boom, the movie would keep going. And why, oh why, did they have to destroy that beautiful Aston Martin DBS? WHY GOD? WHY!!!? P.S.--Thanks for the interesting tidbits on the novel.

I posted a few pics of the Valk in a thread a few months back. I've removed a few of the pics in the interim (so I wouldn't overload the board with pics). And practically all of those old ones are way too overexposed with the flash. But here's the link. I've subsequently learned a few lessons from the photography thread here on the board and decided to learn more about my digital cam's advanced features. ......That and natural sunlight makes the photos turn out better. There's other pics of the custom I've littered around the board. But the link above is the main one. In any case, less words, more pics: [attachmentid=38249][attachmentid=38250][attachmentid=38251][attachmentid=38252][attachmentid=38253]

Uh..............DAMN!!! How tall is it without the main guns in firing position? <Darth Vader-style>: Most impressive indeed!

Nah, I'd stick with the flexi's. More added "play value," especially when you start mixing and matching the rod lengths. A few things about the Alphas. They're probably about 2/3 to 3/4 the height of the MPC Veritechs. They definitely have more articulation than the old Gakken Alphas. BUT there are a bunch of flaws to keep your eyes out for when getting the MPC Alphas. Sometimes, it's almost a crapshoot trying to get one that's almost perfect. Some noteable issues are the infamous floppy arms syndrome, fragile hands, the arched back look in fighter mode, crooked heads, and the chest plate touching the ground. I'd say about 2 out of the 5 Alphas I've bought have been relatively flaw-free. I can still pose all of them fairly well, mind you. But the flaws on less-than-perfect Alphas can get pretty annoying. I'm not trying to dissuade you from buying the Alphas, but you should be aware of some of the issues you may run across. .....Now if only someone would make a compatible, transformable Beta.

Alright Kyp, look at my avatar. The way Toynami has handled the whole Beta situation, the lack of updates on their website, and the general impression of disdain I get from Toynami's ACTIONS make it very difficult for me to support them. Now, look at what's been happenning with the YF-19 and all the recent 1/48 VF-1 and 1/60 VF-0 releases from Yamato. We've gotten a fairly steady stream of updates, CAD pics, prototype pics, info on all the cool little features and gimmicks, and numerous pics of the finished product in all three modes and from various angles. Granted Yamato still has their issues and flaws. But I'd rather spend my money on a product and on a company that has showed more concern, more "love" (if you will) to its fans than Toynami has shown in its short history. I have practically all of the Toynami MPC's, one of the Yamato 1/60 VF-1's, a few of the 1/48's, and one of the re-released Bandai 1/55's. So, I do have some bases for my opinions. Now granted, the MPC's are typically cheaper less expensive and have some charm. But if I had to do it all over again, I'd have started and stayed with the Yamato Valks........Of course, I'd still get my one 1/55 chunky-monkey (just for nostalgia purposes. ). Just my two cents on the matter.

Yeah, I kept looking at that pic after I made the post. I didn't know for sure if the clear rim around the kite was evidence of a sticker or just an optical illusion due to the pic's resolution. Seeing how the part splits and is probably a high contact point during transformation (correct me if I'm wrong), you'd think Yamato would just go ahead and tampo the emblems.
-
Gotta agree with you there. Damn, why didn't I buy some spare Valk stickers from Devin just for the hell of it. At least the kite symbols on the fuselage appear to be tampo'd on. Thanks for all the new pics everyone!! Personally, I wouldn't fret too much about poseability. Once a bunch of us MW'ers get our hands on this, you know we'll be snapping up pics and offerring our critiques of the joints and such.

Nice weathering effects! She looks like a tough, battle-tested bird.

^^^Yeah, I have my "sources" too. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if she'll be able to get tickets to an advanced screening. Plus, I'm probably a few people down on the priority list (family and such) if she gets tickets for an advanced screening. Oh well, no big deal. Zeta, if you see it before the rest of us schmoes, feel free to rant, rave, and review the flick. Just try not to mention the key plot points or big surprises until after we all get to see it.
