The MW Automotive Thread 5.0 GT
Golden Arms replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Cool pics and cars Peter. Where were those taken? I think the thing with kids, is that they think the only affordable things they can do to the cars right away are the guady graphics and fart cannons. Customizing cars is expensive, so I don't blame them too much. Especially if you don't have access to tools, shop space and knowledge. What I can't stand are the donked cars. I see alot of those as well. That look will never appeal to me. -

Ditto for me as well. Not really into imports either. I like some, but I usually prefer american cars. I do however like the new tech and gizmos in the newer cars, but other than that too many look the same to me. Way too plastic and cheap looking. That may be one of my biggest gripes with all the newer cars, but that isn't going to change. Also, nothing really stands out from manufacturer to manufacturer. But I may be too nostalgic. I did like the 80's celica's and datsun's as well. When I was a kid my uncle had a celica with a manual tranny. I loved that little car. One of my friends is restoring an 1970 or 69 opel. His dad is willing to give him his 80's celica GT once he finishes the opel. -
Scale and proportions are things that don't exist in the TF universe including the Bay films. Case in point, In the films Starscream is the same height as Prime in Bot mode. If his original mass was similar to an F-22, then he should've towered over Prime. But he didn't. I'v also heard that the truck Sentinel prime is based on is also a 30 foot long truck. He too would tower over Prime if the scales were accurate. I guess the movies, can get away with this because they did kinda explain it away with the Allspark. In the 1st film it orginally appears much larger than any of the Autobots. BB transformed it to rubix cube size with a touch. If the TF's are based on the same tech, then it stands to reason that they too are capable of defying the rules of physics and science as we know. Which would negate what I previously said.

I thought the same thing on the wheels and side rockers. That is the beauty of the older cars. You don't need to put anythink larger than 17 or 18 inch wheel to give a really aggressive stance. It seemed like the wheel wells were smaller than some of the more recent cars. -
Skystriker Starscream,Lion-O, and Young justice Superboy. I think all will be available through retail except starscream so I'm not too worried. So I'll just have to wait. My old boss lives in San Diego and told me I could stay at his place for the Cons, but my new job has me traveling quite a bit so I can't make it. You have a really cool toy collection. Currently, what is your favorite line outside of Macross?

Hello Archer, Be careful with IPA on the Bandai valks. I usually clean my Yamato valks in fighter mode, but battroid is probably a better mode to clean in, because more of the hidden parts will be available(head, forarms, etc). The other benefit of IPA over something like peroxide is that it will dry quicker, so you won't have to worry too much about drying or wiping to dry. I haven't heard of any metal parts rusting. But I wouldn't leave them wet. Soap and water also works very well. You could clean with soap and water, and then finish with IPA. The IPA will dry the soap and water. If you have a greasy valk, go soap and water then finish with alcohol. That should remove all the grime from the factory. If you are uncertain about a particular solvent, then just use soap and water. I haven't found any toys that are harmed by them.

Damn, If I set that at target this summer, it will be near impossible to pass up. Is the Starscream Sky striker going to be a comic con exclusive? -
Listening to the podcast now. Do you know of any ways to get some of the SDCC exclusives without paying through the roof?

Isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs. I wouldn't use anything harsher than that.

My only concerns for the v2.0 is going to be the paint applications and loosening joints. I've had my 29 for several days now and I think the paint choices Bandai continues to make leaves a lot to be desired. But,overall I like the redesign and can't wait to get it. I hope they redo the entire v1 line, and make them readily available.

70 Fastback. The lower fascia is reminiscent of the 68 or 67. I should get my 70 fastback from the shop this week. I haven't seen her in about 3 weeks. -

I was watching the g1 cartoon yesterday and caught another scene that was also in DOTM. The episode is from season 2 and is titled Atlantis Arise. -
Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie

Great vid guys. I don't think I could've transformed this thing properly without it. Be careful with the paint on the head. The black portion at the back can easily be scratched. In Battroid mode, the shield comes off rather easily, but it's a minor gripe. Overall a great toy. This is the toy that the 1st version vf-25 shouldv'e been. Bandai should also redo the vf-27 as well. -
It's like that on the yF-29 as well. It really makes the battroid resemble the anime version. This is going to be a must purchase.

There is a behind the scenes featurette of this on The Green Lantern emerald knights dvd. I think it's going to be very good. Thew producers state that they were trying to be as faithful to the source material as possible, including the artwork. DC's animated movies have been great.

Your Right JBO, I didn't see it that way. Prime really should've been more POe'd. -
The Black rodimus looks pretty cool. I saw shockwave at Walmart yesterday. Has Leader class Ironhide been released at retail yet? I'd like to pick him up.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that caught the homage to the G1 cartoon plots. It seemed that the filmakers directly lifted these plots with little alteration. Though it makes the autobots seem like dicks after their return. How many people had to die before they decided it was now time to reappear. Optimus Prime is the real dick, not Sentinel. Sentinel at least had a motive. What was Primes? -
This looks really good. I can't wait for the premier. I wonder if we'll see grun the destroyer. I also wonder if the reptilians and other animal races were treated as slaves by the cats.

I sometimes miss living in Dallas. I grew up there. Austin is sort of the same way. A far amount of muscle cars and exotics here. Earlier this week I saw an Audi R8 and last weekend I saw a Gray Ford GT. There is a local weekend get together near my house were a lot of classic car owners take over a parking lot and bring their cars. I've seen a shelby daytona coupe there a few weekends back. One of the local european car dealers throws a cars and coffee and you see so many cool cars there. I really enjoy it because you see so many different types of cars. -
I saw 2 Warpath's at Target yesterday. I did pick up sentinel prime though. He's an awesome figure, but he's too back heavy and has a hard time standing up. Target had him on sale for $39.

Saw the movie last night and liked it. But you definately have to check your brain at the door for these films. I did like a lot of the famous actors that were in it. I thought the plot was somewhat stupid, nut like I had, you have to leave your brain at home. The ending was very weak. I thought Sam's girlfrind did a pretty good acting for her first film. Highly recommend you see it in 3D. One of the best 3D films I've seen to date. -
I haven't recieved my yf-29 yet, but I wonder how will the shield fit in fighter mode for the vf-25 v2? It was one of the many things I hated about the v1's.
-
I would like for them to come up with a solution for the interchangable hands. I hate the use of the ball joints. The weight of the gunpod forces the hands to tilt down oover time.
-
I liked the film, but I was so disappointed, because it could have been so much better. I think the editing and pacing were terrible. Characters, backstory, and development happened way too soon.
