The Wolverine FILMS (X-Men Universe)
Golden Arms replied to antibiotictab's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hopefully this film will have a better story and script. The origin film was a complete mess. I see that Frank Miller and Chris Claremont have writting credits for the film, so I'm caustiously optimistic. -
Hello CW, Good luck with the comic. The idea of a chinese superhero marketed to mainland chinese readers is brilliant. I'm not that familiar with what many chinese read, do they have any equivalents to American or Japanese comic books? Have you thought about trying to get your book published in any major chinese websites? If you went to print, what are your thoughts on having the book collected in a manga format?

Love all the pics that have been posted. I need to sticker my cavalier this weekend.

The black version does come with a flesh colored member. The Imari that I wish I could add, was the version sitting in the chair.
-
I bet you got the latest Imari figure. I scored her several weeks ago and added her to my other Bible black figures. I think they should release another Takeshiro in 1/6.

Red Dawn Remake---Is nothing sacred???

It doesn't matter how large of a standing army you have, you still gotta transport, feed, and house those troops millions of miles away. Which the North Koreans can't do. Besides wars on fought with troops alone. You also to have the industrial infrasture to maintain a long range war. That means every bullet, boot, tank, ration, rifle has to be manufactured. Last time I checked, North Korea was reliant on foreign intervention to feed their own people. I concede that they could invade their neighbors, but they can't and wouldn't because the pressure from their allies wouldn't allow them. Not to mention how overly reliant they are on them as well. That has been one of the good things of the global economy. We are more or less dependant upon each other. The politicians all know this, but alot of them talk in this overly patrotic us vs them mumbo jumbo, which serves no one but themselves. Sorry to get off topic, but this was way too much in the realm of impossibility concerning the films protagonist to ignore. -
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Golden Arms replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I can't wait for this to come out. DC's cartoon movies have been a blast. I loved TDKR. It was the first book that tuned me into a devoted comic reader, nearly two decades ago. The art in the book, represents the tone of the story. It isn't meant to be pretty, shiny or glossy. It,like most of Millers other iconic stories is film noir in tone. Dark, gritty, bleak. That is one of the most elemental aspects of the comic medium that never seems to ever truely be captured in big screen adaptations. That was one of my big complaints with the V for Vendetta adaptation. It never truely got the feel of a dystopian future that the graphic novel had. -

No, the original was a steaming pile of disbelief as well. I think the era of big global wars may be a thing of the past in our near futures. Most countries can't afftord to spend the riduculous amounts of money that it takes to finance an large enough military to invade and occupy another country. The Europeans have figured this out, and we Americans are too gonna learn this the hard way. Besides, most countries populations don't have the stomachs for never ending wars. The poiticians would be thrown out of office for such endeavours. North Korea can't even invade it's own neighbors let alone another country half an ocean away. I swear, the producers of both of these films shouldv'e been shown a map. Talk about suspension of disbelief. Its official, every bad movie that has ever been made is slated to be remade. I'm now waiting for the remake of Kill and Kill Again. -
Sorry, I confused your post with VF-1A fans. He had a Sucker puch doll behind his wonder woman statue.
-
I think its official that were all big fans of Shunja Yamashita! I have the bishojou Huntress on order. Kicker, it looks like you have most of the collection. Nevermind, You do have the complete Collection!! I have Storm, Jim Lee Jean Grey, Dark Phoenix, Ms Marvel, Rogue with the Short jacket, and Psylocke. I want to get Wonderwoman and SDCC Storm (I think the white outfit better iluminates the sculpting detail than the black uni). Can you show us some more pics of Hot Toys Sucker punch? I saw the HLJ video on her and was blown away her samurai swords detail.

My cel shot is the pic of Hikaru in flight suite floating with Minmay in his arms

Ditto. The movie was very entertaining throughout. Definately worth a second showing. I also still need to see Spiderman.

X-Men: Days of Future Past, in theaters May 23, 2014

That Sir, I have no idea! I Too was a gigantic X-men growing up. I didn't mind all of the changes the studio made to story because they perserved the essence of the characters and their overall story. When I go to the movies I want a fresh story. That has increasingly been one of my beefs when filmmakers decide to make films based on books and comics. If you make a literal interpretation, then whats the point of going to see the movie? You've already read the source material. Thats why I have no interest in seeing the Hobbit. The movie isn't going to explore any fresh ground and it's just a rehash of the novel. Nothing new, been there done that. It took me seeing the LOTR trilogy and buying those films on DVD to realize that point. I treat the X franchise as an alternate world(parallel universe) take as to how the characters would be if they existed in a real world setting. There are a lot of things I would've liked to have seen them do differently, but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the films. The films made the characters really acessible to the general public who didn't really care/need to know 40 plus years of continuity and minutia.- 329 replies

The Comic Book thread

Tomato, tomato. In Issue 10 Tim states that Damien is tarnishing the Robin Legacy. Why would Tim care about the Legacy if he had no part in it? In that same issue Bruce admonishes both Damien and Tim for arguing about their times as being Robin. Bruce states that as Robins they all had their strenghts and weakness. He also states that they all share a bond (red and green uniform of service) that should unite them, even Jason. Maybe someone should've told Lobdell to read Batman and Robin issues 9-10. Part of story of these two issues was for Bruce to get the family together and cherish their memories. We'll have to wait and see what happens in Teen titans 0. Which makes no since, because at the beginning of Teen Titans, its assumed that Red Robin has gotten alot of his stuff from Batman.- 565 replies

BTG, that isn't incorrect, Tim Drake is currently red robin. He is also the defacto leader of the the Teen Titans. In that same issue, or the one afterwards, Damien goes on to challenge the previous Robins. Namely Tim since they were fighting back and forth in that same issue you highlighted. Not all of the books with the New 52 got a fresh relauch. The green lantern Books and Most of the Batman titles continuity before Flashpoint was perserved.- 565 replies

I disagree about DC. The new 52 has turned out some really great books. I enjoy most of what they've decided to do. I suggest you give some of the books another chance. I think you can find several that peak your interest. Grant Morrison is writing Superman. Wonderwoman is great, So is Batman. Both of which are must reads. Green Lantern has consistently been a geat read since Geoff Johns started writing. He turned Sinestro from a guy with a goofy head into one of comics most complex and interesting characters. They also just introduced Earth 2. When the new 52 first launched, there were subtle hints to a yet to be told big storyline that was carryover from Flashoint. I bet in about a year we will get this story. I also highly recommend the first 11 issues of Batman. The court of OWLS is must read! Robin is still the books, It's just Bruces's son. They haven't ignored the continuity with characters. All of the other robins have kinda grown up and are doing their own thing, which they were doing before the relauch. Alot of it ties back to the battle of the cowl, After Bruce had died. Dick is Nightwing Jason Todd is Redhood Tim Drake is red robin Damien is Robin marvel on the other hand continues to be a mess. The only book I consistently read from them is Uncanny X-force. It too is a must read. They plan to reset their books at the conclusion of AvX. I don't the whispers of their upcoming plans post AvX. They plan to tie the Avengers and X titles more closely together. They also plan to have the creative teams switch books. So Bendis will be writing X-men characters. We will see how this pans out, but I'm not optimistic.- 565 replies

X-Men: Days of Future Past, in theaters May 23, 2014
Golden Arms replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah I didn't disagree with E. I think we are both right. The director also had to be politician about First class. If he says it's a reboot, the movie going public gets pissed and says WTF. We just had three films we were emotionally invested in. Why a reboot so soon after them. First class was a prequel to the previous X films because most of the big actions fit within its continuity. The Studio would like the idea of a reboot because they can recast all of the actors if they choose to(which they did for the most part). And it keeps the movie rights to a wildly sucessful franchise with Fox. I think X3 would've resembled more of the Dark Phoenix story had Singer not bolted to do Superman. When he left, James Marsden also decided to go with him. So what we got was a watered down mess. They also tried to mix in touch much stuff from some of the more recent books. They also did a homage to Chris Claremont in X3. He had a cameo when Mags and Xavier went to visit a young Jean Grey.- 329 replies

Golden Arms replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Same thing. The reboot, allows them to make another trilogy of films. Which can either lead up to Singers first two films or ala Star Trek reboot the franchise. The Days of Future Past storyline gives them the flexibility to completely reboot the frachise if they choose to. I wouldn't doubt that they do so because it would allow Fox to keep the franchise for atleast another five or six years.- 329 replies

X-Men: Days of Future Past, in theaters May 23, 2014

X-men first class is a direct prequel to the first two X-men films. X-men last stand was directed by Brett Ratner and not considered cannon to the other 3 films. Bryan Singer who directed the first two X-men films left the franchise after being offered the opportunity to direct Superman Returns. After X-men last stand, Singer got back involved with the X Franchise and we got X-men First class. He's stated that he considers first class to be in series with the two films he helmed. I would totally ignore the Wolvie film since it completely sucked and seems to exist in its own continuity anyway.- 329 replies

Ditto on the custom GBP armor. They have so many schemes they could do. Same with the Fast pack armor. They should release several custom or never released before valks with newly colored aromr and or fastpacks.
