Why can't we have anime and cartoons in general that have the kids either be sideline characters that just pop up every once in a while, or where the kids are actually smart and not annoying? Remember the original transformers, Spike was actually pretty bright IIRC and was not at all whiny.

Technically the Penetrator is not a box wing, it's just funky and in an atmosphere a drag magnet, I always thought the Penetrator was a pretty bad design with those wings. Opus' concept is for a dihedral wing, the Space Gull was an anhedral wing. I tried the Dihedral wing and it really did not feel right, plus unless I had it emerge from another anhedral wing first it would creat sevre stability problems in ATM flight. I will play with the single ventral fin again, but I am not sure about it, when I have played with it before it didn't look right.

I am familiar with it, played the game back in the day, and still have one of the manuals. I do admit that Valkyire, ex-tenrack, bomber did have its general shape inspired by the Gladius heavy fighter, one of my favorite in the game. Looking at the designs there is maybe a slight, and I do mean slight resemblence I can see, but I do not see a true box-wing on any of them. If you can point out some more similarities go ahead as I do not want to be accused of copying anyone elses designs. BTW tomorrow I will see how the single FSW with fins looks.

Ok, I didn't get much done today, been nutty, hopefully this weekend, I'd like to finish the design work before my trip in February. Though i will not be able to work on the textures until I get home, dang work computer. Anyway I think I will go with the box-wing, the concept has really grown on me. I may straighten the wing some more but the gull-wing just is not going to happen. The wingtip units will end up being experimental energy weapons, very powerful but not the most reliable. I will reshape the wings to eliminate the overhangs and give it a more realistic camber. I also added the large ventral fins and dorsal tails. This craft will not have an undercarriage as it is strictly carrier based, but will have hard points to land on using a special ground platforms. Anyway let me know what you think and I appreciate any advice you have.

ACtually in the episode version he doesn't get to fly the YF-19 until after the VF-11 accident. IIRC that still is shown only in the movie version.

Don't you hate it when that happens, lol. BTW Exo after you watch them IM me, I need to talk to someone else who has seen them.

THis has to be a joke right, if not maybe we should have warnings at the beginning of every POKEMON episode. *warning POKEMON has been proven to cause cancer, watch at your own risk*

Aircraft VS super thread!
Knight26 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes the production A-10B would have had a more traditional canopy. The A-10B is a single prototype it was made from one of the A-10A preproduction prototypes, as most early prototype aircraft are. Also the A-10B when it was the NA/AW demonstrator had a glass cockpit that was comprable to the new A-10C 'pit. The A-10 still operates at low altitude when in combat, that is the reality of its role, so the surface tracking radar would have been a major asset. Especially during Desert Storm when they had to fly below the smoke of the oil fires to engage their enemies, very few other aircraft could do that. -
does that vf-11 have an extra mag on the back of its shield?

Aircraft VS super thread!
Knight26 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The trainer concept was something tacked onto the A-10B after the Air-Force turned down the NA/AW concept. The air force still did not pick it up though, buncha morons. -
Aircraft VS super thread!
Knight26 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The A-10B was never intended as a trainer, though it would have been used for one. It was used as a test bed to make Night Attack Adverse Weather (NA/AW) variant of the A-10. IT would have carried custom radar and flir pods and would have had a glass cockpit. It was determined by the A-10 that the standard FLIR pod, to be introduced a few years later, would make the NA/AW unneeded. However the A-10 never got the numbers of FLIR pods it would have required until right before Desert Storm, when they were all taken away. After DS they were slowly transitioned back into the A-10 fleet and now the A-10C will have them as standard. -

*maniacal laughter* ah my baby is finally getting some of the recognition it deserves. It still isn't a NA/AW by any stretch of the imagination but she is looking better. I do have to say one thing I do not like about it at this point. The stick. Sorry but I do not like the F-16 stick, would have much prefered to see them transition it to the F-15 style control column instead of mounting an F-16 stick. It makes me uneasy, and I know a few hog drivers won't like it too much either. -
You know I've always been curious about that shot, IIRC the wings are also shown folded up. Is that suppossed to be one of the test aircraft that was wrecked earlier, or is it suppossed to be Isamu's after it was shot up by GUld? Considering I can only remember seeing it in the movie version adds to the confusion.

You are really bucking for that whole gull wing aren't you, I'll play with it some more tonight, see how it looks without the top wing.

Science and Technology MEGA THREAD
Knight26 replied to Max Jenius's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah but does it come in midnight blue and my size? http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/01/26/b...uits/index.html -

Anyway onto the current redesign, i am stuck. I need to decide between two the two wing configurations I have narrowed myself down to. The Single wing FSW with four cannons, or the box-wing FSW with two cannons and some sort of new/failed supercannon in the wing tips. Both have advantages and disadvantages, so I would appreciate any comments to help. Here are two images of the latest box wing concept. And Pot Smoking Zentrandude, there really is little to no resemblance to the warbird.

Holy Shreg I just watched episode 13 from the british run and all I have to say is they better pick this thing up for at least the next six backup scripts. Too many cliffhangers, too much left unanswered and shreg just the last minute, oh man, someone who's watched this IM me I need to talk about it. Holy Croy.

Very very nice, now if it were only fully variable too, lol.

@lynx: Yeah this one is strictly carrier based, no built in undercarriage, so the ventral fin is a possibility. The Box wing looks common, where else have you seen it? I can only assume you are confusing the retro-exhaust thruster with an intake, which it is not, this model does not have any intakes, except maybe for cooling, so we will see. @opus: Yeah that is a consideration I will think about it at work today and play with it more tonight when I get home. As for filling the space, no that is not going to happen.
-
Ok i see what you mean Opus, and thanks for the idea I'm afraid it would just make it look like an upside down S-5000 wing and would really serve no purpose. The box wing is really growing on me, though I am debating adjusting the an/dihedral angles in order to add a different vertical joint. I did give the wing some shape to flesh out the idea some more, plus I stuck the guns in where they will likely go, any thoughts?
-
Very nice, if I were any good at building models I would consider it. BTW will you eventually make it able to fit 1:18 scale figures?

Next up is a box wing config, I'm kind of liking this one and right now it is up between this one and the straight mono-wing.
