Don't worry MSW I still plan to use your concept as the basis of a future design, but now we take a step back. Some history on this particular fighter redesign. The SPlicer 1000 "Dagger" is the last SPlicer model to fly as a single seater. It is a hold over design from the previous war before the main storyline war. As such it is the last of the "Centenial" Series and the First of the new "Millenial" series. When first introduced it was meant to be a superiority fighter and performed well in that role for years so a great many were ordered and built. However as technology advanced the fighter proved incapable of adapting with the times as after as its younger siblings. As a result it was relegated to more rear line duties, filling the recon and training role. Basically this the F-5/T-38 of my stories. Most pilots learn to fly in these then transistion to their primary mount. Frontline use is almost exclusively as armed recon craft. The Design will incororate only the minimum of common features from the later models, mostly the cockpit interior and engine nozzles, I am still debating whether or not it will have the docking fixtures. The Splicer 1000 was also the first of my Splicer series designs to start life on paper and not as a Robotix model. Though I have to admit that the original concept was a delta winged upside down X-Wing. I'm going to try and keep the weapons loadout the same, four cannon (two types) and six missiles, may go to eight. First up the old design for comparison then shots of the new concept. All the details on the old version are actually textured on, it was an experiment and I liked how it came out. Mind you I was using an older machine at the time so I could not even dare to model in the details. I am quite proud of the textures and some of their features may work their way into the redesign. These were the first textures I created without modelling the details in first, and propably the last.

Now that is just a mean thing to say A1, while I was not that impressed with the RT shots either, I also take into consideration that they were taken by someones video camera off of projection screen. So with that in mind most of the poor quality probably comes from that. THat being said, for a major production like they are doing, they sure are shootin low-poly on the models, let's see if the textures help at all.

Hmm, I must not have noticed that before, strange you would think I would have. Anyway found this great aviation video site today, take a look: http://www.aviationexplorer.com/movies.htm -
Why thank you, though I don't think I am movie quality yet, especially since I still use ACAD.

to each his own I guess but I do see what you mean MSW. As for your design, I am still thinking of copying it for the 6000, but I have a few other models in the que before then. What format is in BTW?

Ok, now expect for the little postions lights and antennae, we are done, the de-gravs are in, the sensor pods are in, though they make the tails look a little funky, but oh well. If anyone has a suggestion on how to fix them pipe before I texture. BTW I will texture the tails last.

I am less then impressed.

Ok, update time and a whole F-load of pictures. There are only a couple minor bits I still have to model in, because I was an idiot and forgot them, the sensor pods, and the De-grav pads. I know where I am going to put the de-gravs, i think, but have not figured out the sensor pod locations yet, typically they go on the fins, any ideas?

This is what happens when the business majors run the Defense Contractors and not the Engineers. Business Major: "What, people are building models of our planes and we're not getting any money from it, hmmp, let's start charging royalties. Let's see we charge about $20,000,000 for an F-16, and the model price must be in scale with that, so $40.00 royalty shouldn't affect the model builders too much." Engineer: "A company wants some detailed drawings of one of our aircraft so that they can make a more detailed and accurate model? Sure, have that new kid pull up some drawings remove all the classifieid materials and send them to the company. SHould we charge them, hmmm? Well how about they just reimburse us the cost of using that engineer for the week, that shouldn't impact the cost on a $20.00 model kit that much."
