Update time: Except for a couple small fixes, as well as the wingtip cannons and thrusters, which I will do tomorrow night, call this beasty done. I've done it up in the colors of the 77th Tactical Reaction Wing, a mercenary group flying under the monicker of Black Knights. Enjoy.

IF you want to know how big a 1:72 scale Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier model would be, check this out. This is a picture I took in Fredricksburg, TX at the Nimitz museum about a year ago with my nephew's digital camera.

I will eventually do a PDE powered version, but the changes there will only be to the engines and shouldn't be too major to accomplish.

Last update for tonight. I am about at the limits of what my work computer can take on here and still work at a reasonable speed. However I still have some things I want to do on here before I start doing the really detailed stuff at home. Anyway here is what I have done: 1) Added a Dorstal fin, it may or may not stay, I am not quite feeling right about it. 2) Installed all the main thruster banks, I will do a tally later, needless to say this little beasty should be fairly manueverable. 3) I installed sensor pods on the anhedraled dogtooth area, not quite sure about where or not I will keep those though, thoughts? I still have the undercarriage and control surfaces to model in before I start detailing and am still open to suggestions on how to improve the design, any ideas? Something just seems to be missing right now and I am not sure what.

Looks like I'm Metafilter too:

LOL, I love that.

@Zentrandude, other then the color and midfuselage cockpit I do not see any resemblance myself, sorry.

Ok Update Time: I jumped around a little on this one: 1) I fixed the wing mount, it no longer floats in places 2) I added the retro thrusters, two on two, one below, per engine. THis is the late war pred-PDE config, these will get PDEs as well eventually but most will stay conventionally powered. 3) I bit the bullet and added the docking mounts. 4) I cut the cockpit tub and inserted the cockpit interior. 5) I altered the color a little bit to a true Mustard Yellow, hehe I am evil to my characters sometimes. Imagining having to wear that color uniform for three years as a cadet, hehe.

Question, it's been three years why hasn't anakin had his hand skinned already? I mean heck the rebels, who just scrape by managed to skin Luke's hand right away, why does Anakin, a Jedi Knight not get similar treatment?

Read 'em and weep Fellow Battletech fans!
Knight26 replied to Skull Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ok, excuse my ignorance, but what is the big deal about the book, is it worth anything, or is it just for its historical value amongst B-tech fandom? Also if you are looking for old B-Tech books, raid my old high school library it was, and probably still is, stocked full of older first edition sci-fi noivels, including a great many B-Techs. -
Ok I have started texturing. I have given all parts that do not already have textures the Vandy-1 treatment for testing, except the wingtip cannon and thrusters. I am holding off on the cannon because I am still not 100% satisfied with its design and may go back to revisit it. I have not started on the thrusters yet because as a matter of course I like to save those until the last. There were only two areas where the texture started to go wonky, those were on the engines, but those areas are covered by the wings for the most part so I am not going worry about and go chopping up the engines. I will texture more tomorrow night, hopefully finish by this weekend, when hopefully I can start on the Splicer-1000s textures. @MSW, if wings3D can export to .dwg, .dxf, or .3ds format I would love to get a closer look at that model, thanks.

Looks great, but you have the markings of three different squadrons on there, Skull, VMFA-323, and VF-154. So you have UN Spacy, US Marine, and US Navy squadron markings on one bird, I think it might be a little identity confused. Other then that you did a fantastic job.

YOu know looking at it, aside from the figure sized portions, the ship almost looks about 1:48 scale. Heck with some tweaking of a beat to Shreg on I bet one of the customizers on here could make it into a decent 1:48 scale carrier with multiple cats and arrestor lines. Anybody up for that one?

Update time: 1) I redid the wings a little giving them some camber and adding a dogtooth to the anhedral tips. 2) I added the weapons, looking at two different configurations right now. I am digging the second version with the buried EPC's myself. 3) I lengthened the wing a bit at one point between moving the EPC's, whatever weapons config I decide on the wing will stay this way. Next up: 1) reshape the aft fuselage a little. 2) Correct the wing mounting problem, it floats in the rear. 3) Add the reverse thrusters to the engines. 4) Add the dorsal docking locks? 5) Give it manuevering thrusters 6) Give it a dorsal fin? 7) Add Sensor Pods Add the undercarriage 9) Cut the cockpit tub and insert the cockpit interior 10) Detail, detail, detail. Thoughts, Ideas? @Panzer: Thanks for the props dog, peace out.

There were several "prototype" and Custom mechs in that battle, the most notable is the "Orgus Valk" which is a super VF-1A with Orguss armor parts on it.

Alot of directors and storywriters take inspiration and make nods to Kurosawa, he was a great writer/director. So, I am not surprised if SK borrowed some elements from him.

Very Nice MSW, Wings3D, I'm not too familiar with that one, isn't it the one they recommend for modelling stuff for X-plane?
