Interesting, but the blast damage looks like it is coming from the inside out to me, you really need to punch through from the outside make the material look punched inwards.

Guys HH is just some pathetic little 40 yr old virgin troll who still lives in his mothers basement, just ignore him. However about his argument against analog clocks let me sum up a paper a friend of mine did for a psych class. I want everyone to look at their watch or the nearest clock. Now without looking back, what time is it? Chances are if you had to look again you were looking at a digital clock. The human mind tends to process information taken from analog sources better then digital and remember them more. The numbers on a digital clock are completely abstract, read, processed and flushed quickly. However the position of the hands on a watch are not so abstract to your brain so when you read them you tend to remember them better. You may not get the time exactly right but you are pretty close when you remember them. WHy else do you think cars still have analog gauges for the most part, unless you had a persistent HUD in the windshield you would never remember your speed or fuel state. The same with planes, event he most advanced figher out there with a persistent HUD still has gauges on the HDD, whether they be physical guages or digital representations of them on an MFD. So the fact that Galactica and most ships still use analog clocks really adds a great sense of reaslism to the show. All the tech just seems so achievable that it makes it very real for the viewers and is almost to an extent a slap in the face to modern day society. "Hey look what we are achieving with tech that is little better then what you are using today, why don't you get your heads out of your @$$e$ and as a society link up to create a real future out in space?" There is litterally no reason why today we could not have moon bases and mars missions out there right now, or even mars bases and deeper space missions, except for politics, lack of real leadership, lack of imagination, greed, and just plain human stupidity. Did you know that had the US and NASA kept going with Von Braun's plans that the US national debt would have been paid off completely by 1985? How does a ring asteroids in lunar orbit sound, asteroids brought back from the belt because they have high mineral wealth content, asteroids that the US and its allies would have exclusive mining rights for? Ok, sorry starting to rant, I better end this now.

SHot two, the Buzzard, original just going to be the Buzz, or the Buzzar, but I liked Buzzard more. The angles just seem to scream, give me motion blur make me come alive.

Update, the wings are finished, and I unveil two new shot perspectives that well, gave me a whole new appreciation for this design. Man I am now starting to understand its appeal to my characters and you guys. First shot, the Viper, for obvious reasons.

Do you feel lucky punk? Well do ya punk? The PLASER cannons are finished, I will start in on the wing tonight, and I have fixed the canopy as well, sorry no pics of that yet.

Update time: I detailed up the EPCs, they look pretty sweet now, but man those details come at a cost, this things size just went up 25%. I think most of that might be in the barrell though so I may take out the fillets on it to cut the face/memory size down.

yes. more pay == more effort into work. It always depends on the industry and of course the individual, but I can tell you asside from the minor outlier, union work less effective than non-union. This is how it works: The union protects the workers so they can suck ass and nobody can fire them. Unions = sh!t work. Here here brother. We had a guy here at my work who is completely incompitent and only still has a job because of the union. Luckily he is no longer our problem though, we transferred him off to the Tomahawk group, so if in a couple years you hear about T-Hawks going off course and hitting the wrong target you know who to blame.

Macross Live Action definitely do-able
Knight26 replied to Kamion's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ok how about a better example, let's list all the animated series/movies that have been translated to live action with comments about them. I'll start: Flintstones: Let's not even go into how bad they messed this up Scooby Doo: Decent, but only becuase they were making fun of themselves the whole time. Gundam: I think the reasons for why the gundam LA movie was bad are too many to list Those are all I can think of now that weren't comic books first. I know someone may bring this up, "what about going the other directions, look how many good LA movies/shows have gone to animated well." Just think about that first, it is so much easier to do sci-fi and fantasy in an animated format, you can go more extreme for far less money and go into more depth on the characters and give them more adventures. The "Real" Ghostbusters is a great example, good movies, lots of fun and translated well to small screen cartoons because of its partially comedic nature. WHere it ran into trouble was after the second movie and the cartoon tried to work the continuity of the movies back into the cartoon despite the fact that the second movie destroyed the cartoon continuity. Basically going from any animated medium, or comic medium to a live action medium is going to be extremely difficult and its not just the technological considerations. There is so much history in the story of any anime or comic before it goes to film that you cannot hope to fill in all the back story successfully and please all the fans. -
Macross Live Action definitely do-able
Knight26 replied to Kamion's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This brings to mind two great quotes I was brought up with: 1) If it ain't broke, don't fix it. (Macross is fine and works well as an anime, why run the risk?" 2) Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. (I could, if I wanted to go out and just start randomly blowing away all the bad drivers I encounter, and there are times I am tempted, but it doesn't mean I will.) Yes a live action version of Macross "could" be made if big west wanted to, and could be made in the states if HG would allow it. However should it be made, probably not because no matter what when an animated feature translates to movie there are far too many comprimises made to make it work and very few fans of the original end up satisified. -
Close up of the MSPs, the endcover and stencilling is almost a direct rip from my round simulators at work.

Thanks A1. Anyway this is a non-update. I have not done anything on the fighter itself but threw together a preliminary MSP (Missile Simulator Pod) to hang off the wings since the first varient I will make is the trainer. The MSP is based loosely in concept and design in the Simulators we use for our launchers here at work. It will undergo many revisions and redetailing but I like it so far and it should add a little something extra to the trainer varient S-1000. Also I am asking for a little help, I have an idea for the squadron logo I want on the trainers but do not have the artistic talent to create it. Basically it would go on the wing anhedral and it should be cartoony. What I am thinking is a RImdook (basically a sentient Velociraptor) chasing after a cadet that looks suspisciously like Spaceman Spiff. Any takers on this one would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to start in on the detailing today, and have decided not to put a boarding ladder on this, no real place to put one. Appreciate any comments you all have.

Hey man for 1/100 scale it was pretty nice, too bad we may never get them.

And since this beasty is being flown by mercs, how about my first try at a little creative wing art, sorry no nudity here, the lady has too much class. A cookie to whomever figures out who she is first.

Last Update for the evening: 1) Fixed the lateral nose thrusters, put them into a much tighter pack closer to the nose since the Plasers were moved. 2) Played with various positions on the Plasers, moved them back to where I first moved them, suggestions? 3) cut and installed the control surfaces on the wings and dorsal tail, it grew one me 4) played with the color some more, trying to figure out the perfect shade of mustard yellow for the trainer varient, which is the first version I will do. I think this is about the most I can do on this at work for now, I will start panelling and detail work tonight or tomorrow. Thing is it still feels like something is missing, not sure what that could be though, any ideas?

Can someone explain this picture from Macross 7?
Knight26 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm fairly middle of the road about M7, mostly I just can't stand Mylene and Basara, those two are very annoying, plus the idea of using music as a physical weapon, well that just seems strange to me. I would have much prefered it if they had something along the lines that Basara's voice somehow, maybe throught that harness of his, tapped into the fabric of space time, using it as a weapon. Possibly some holdover SUpervision Army/Protoculture weapon, kind of like how Sara can control gravity with her singing in Mac-0. -

As per Akilae's suggestion I played around with the PLASER Cannon placement this morning. I put them back under the nose like they were on the original, just slid back quite bit. I kind of like them there. I also installed the landing gear, and in the process had to redo the ventral thrusters on the engines. I think it came out well over all. Since I m oved the PLASER cannons I am going to redo the lateral nose thrusters. I will play around with the PLASER placement a little more as well. Then move onto the control surfaces and after that I think my work computer will be out of the game and it will be time to take this bad boy home to detail it. Oh yeah and since we have an undercarriage we also have the obligatory landed shot. Comments?
