Star Wars Episode 3 Spoilers Thread

He's some Jedi from the Dark Horse comics. I don't know his name, but he has some sort of white tattoo/marking across the bridge of his nose and across his cheeks. Well that really sucks, I was hoping it was a character from one of the post ROTJ novels, like Garm Bel Iblis, or Ysanne ISard, one of the characters created by Stackpole or Zahn, good characters, ugh. -
The Trailer for Batman Begins is OUT!

I agree Graham, in part, I'm not a big superhero fan, but I do like Batman because he is such a human character. Also this one seems much more like the Dark Knight I was raised on by my dad, so I will definitely take him to see it. -

Ok, I'm reading the book right now and a certain EU character is mentioned, let's just say he's a Zahn creation, my question is, is this the character we will "see" in the movie, if even in cameo? I ask because as of now no dialog, only inner monologue, has mentioned him by name. So come on people in the know who is the EU character that appears? -

Holy Shreg on a stick, that thing rocks, I so will see this movie. One question who is Liam Niessen suppossed to be? -

HWR, Sounds great, just let me know what resources you need.

Sure, as long as you aren't thinking anything drastic that would alter the design too much, and as long as you give me credit for the actual design I say go for it. What kind of changes are you thinking of, also do you want to make gear up or down? If you need dimensions and close ups just let me know and I can send you what you'll need.

War Of The Worlds Trailer is OUT! Summer 2005!
Knight26 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Really, I was actually wanting to see the Pendragon release since it was suppossed to be almost the book 100%. If, as you say, the S/C version is true the story, just moved into the modern era I might actually see it then. SO long as a movie stays true to the book I will watch it, not like I Robot and Starship Troopers, which were totally off the mark. -
No sound in space is hardly a "gimmick" since there is atmosphere there is no medium through which sound carries. I agree that was an aspect I liked about the show, but which probably scared off your typical SW/ST type who feels the need to hear all the effects. That is probably why you have sound for the movie. Personnally I kind of like how they handle sound in the new BSG series, very muffled and represented more by the music then by actual sound effects. Also I can't wait to see this movie, and now regret not getting the DVD when it first came out, I may rectify that soon.

Hey if you are serious and can turn out a reasonable representation of the 5000 I am all for it, and I would even pay for the completed model if you be in the mind for that. here are some five views of the design, if you need more pics of higher resolution and dimensioned just let me know and I will provide them.

Revenge of the Sith has been seen!

YOu're also assuming that they waited until DS1 was finished before starting on DS2, or that the DS1 at the end of the movie is the one that is used in ANH. It could be the one in EU books, that gets stripped down to the core. It is entirely possible that they were halfway through construction of DS1 and started on DS2, incorperating many changes from DS1. Also, who is to say how long DS1 was around prior to ANH. It's possible that they had it built for years, in secret, but were just finishign working all the bugs out of the systems by the time of ANH. In which case if DS2 was only started a couple years before it would make sense that it would be in the shape it was by the time ROTJ came around. Figure today a modern aircraft carrier is in shake down testing for upwards of a year after it is built and all systems are installed, how long do you think it would take to fully test out a travelling battlestation the size of a small moon? -

yeah I was just confused when I first heard the name (listening to it at the gym), so I think as well that is must be his father or uncle. I was thinking if the character were an ensign, that might make more sense, 20+ yrs from ensign to captain, that's a long time but respectable, maybe it's the other Needa's older brother then. Now who is the EU character, anybody know? -
check this thread here s-5000 dev thread if you think you can seriously do a scratchbuild of this then lets talk turkey.

Does anyone know who the EU character they plan to show in the movie is yet, and how much screen time he is expected to get? Also I've been reading the book and something is bugging me, is the Lt. COmmander Needa in the book suppossed to be the same Captain/Admiral Needa as in ESB/ROTJ? If so man, that is a slow rise in rank, over twenty years from LT Commander to Captain, or is it maybe suppossed to be his father? -
Gott im freaking Himmel Mann!!! THose are awesome, how much time do you spend doing those in paint?
-
How about a scratch built diorama of a SPlicer 5000 sitting in the hanger of the UCSBS-Wolfsbane with flight crew and techs working on it, complete with weapon all around lol. I'll provide all the reference pics you would ever need JK but that would be awesome.

The wookie stuff is cut out of the book? Oh man, that stinks, I was looking forward to hearing the descriptions of wookies tearing droids and seperatists apart. -

I'm listenning to the book right now while at the gym. That is author's personnal style and is not uncommon to see when authors who are not used to doing film novelizations are commissioned to do them. They try to add alot of the introspection and depth of character that can't be seen on screen. You can only do so much back story on screen, and voice overs or dreams get old fast. In books however when you find a natural point to put some tid bit of the characters past in that builds on their personnality you sieze on it. I admit that the "this is so and so" gets a bit old and he should have changed that up a bit, but it does add depth to the characters in a big way. Also, novelization authors usually work off of the untrimmed screenplay, do you end up getting a lot of the stuff that doesn't make it to film in the books. THis also explains why the style of writing feels like it switchs between two authors. Writers who do a lot of novelizations have styles that get around that pretty well, some also just write the straight screenplay in narative form. Going from film to book is always a hard thing to do, I tried it once for a writing assignment, using a TV show script and that was a pain in and of itself, trying to keep my own style, add to the character development and still stay true to the screenplay. -
