  1. Very nice, the eagle is a very iconic design and also has a quite a real world acheivable feel to it, I mean it looks like something that could have been built in 1999.
  2. I second WDC, I never have to get drunk or stoned to enjoy a KS movie, but they are fun little romps and are usually quite funny, better then most comedies at least. Think of them as Family GUy with real people, especially with all the pop culture references.
  3. Uh could you have posted a smaller, darker picture, you barely make out a thing in that shot.
  4. http://www.flyingmule.com/products/GC-8018 Tell me I'm not the only one who is tempted to get this bad boy.
  5. I agree with EXO, don't do this modern day garbage, have a marine group stumble onto a massive pred/alien war ground. Though maybe they can't use the whole COlonial Marine thing, maybe Cameron is blocking them from using the designs. I know what some you are going to say, does he own the rights? I have no idea. What about the name Wayland Utani? It already existed in the first movie, only the logo was changed for Aliens. But we will see, maybe this script is just vaporware to through people off the scent, can we say Blue Harvest?
  6. Hey while we are on the subject of nasty 80's toys, does anyone know how to wash out that 80's slime, my GFs kid got hold of some and now it is all over several pieces of his and her clothes.
  7. Uh MM79 those aren't prototypes but already existing toys, old releases, the new ones looks awesome, a definite purchase on my part.
  8. Dude we need coordinates for that. And check this one out, talk about a lucky time to take the picture: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=hi...005364&t=h&om=1
  9. I doubt that the SU-33 could do it for a number of reasons. I am not sure that the inboard and outboard flaperons can act independantly for one, I will have to check. Also look at how much of the wing folds, that's a lot of lifting surface to lose, plus look at how much they fold, not just straight up inwards as well.
  10. I will definitely get this it looks awesome, and hwile the ventral side isn't that accurate to the jet I know some concessions have to be made and they look great so far.
  11. Yes USAF F-4 and A-7s also had the ability to fold their wings, taht capability was not removed, but it was little used by the USAF.
  12. I am really looking forward to seeing how this progresses SB. Question how are you planning to integrate the legs into the existing intakes, if at all, and what about the dorsal surface, do you plan to sculpt/carve the details from teh VF-1 into it? As for the gun pod, as say cut off those tabs, the scope and the handle. Then lengthen it and fill it in, it should be fairly smooth, then glue it in place between the two arms in the proper orientation, will make it look a ton better.
  13. Boeing Long Beach will remain open for a few more years at least, probably until at least 2010 working on the C-17, plus doing retrofits on C-17s and 717s. The plant may eventually close but it will be a while, plus Boeing has other projects in the pipe that they may send down there. Additionally many of those employees may be moved up to Boeing Seattle should Boeing Long Beach ever close. The only reason that plant has remained open as long as it has is because of all the McD-D hardware already being built there when it was acquired.
  14. My 1:18 collection currently consists of: 21st: Stuhka Corsair (originally gave it to my G-Pa, I got it after his passing this february) F-104 AH-1W Cobra AH-64 Apache BBI: P-51 Zero F-16 F/A-18 I am seriously considering getting the Admiral Toys F-86, the 21st Avenger (marine markings, since that is what my G-Pa flew) and if it ever comes out the A-10.
  15. I dunno the whole forward fuselage looks a bit off to me, way too blunted.
  16. Let's see what advice we can offer this guy, will probably need to sign up for a joe customs account though. http://www.joecustoms.com/board/showthread.php?tid=36033 He's off to a good start but still needs to do some serious work, but I think some of the expert modellers and customizers here might be able to lend him some advice.
  17. there is also the fact that german pilots on the eastern front had a whole lot of unskilled pilots to fly against. The old joke was in order to be a russian pilot back then all you had to do was not call the airplane a tractor. I actually have a distant relative who was a pilot on the german eastern front with something like 200 kills to his name. After the failed attempt to assassinate hitler he was heard saying "too bad" the next day SS troops met him on the airfield after landing and gave him two options. Be arrested, sent to the gas chamber with his whole family, or take a plane loaded with bombs and half tank of fuel and fly east to Moscow. Family legend says that he took the second choice in order to save his family. As for Tomcat21, great concept and think most of us here have known about it for years. The whole TVE issue though was never seriously engaged my northrup-grumman though as it was shown that incorporating them would require serious structural modifications to the rear end of the aircraft. Despite what some people may think it is not easy to adapt TVEs to older airframes, especially anything pre-F-15. And, it was not exactly easy to modify the F-15 to take them either.
  18. Like many of us I would like to see the original series redone, just reanimated, but with the original character designs, maybe update the outfits. Show the evolution of the valks, uniforms, etc... between the start, with the TV show type, to the movie era configurations, possibly during the reconstruction period. I would also like to see the reconstruction era more, get in the lost two years. However, what I would prefer to see is that the next macross be the last macross, let me explain. Imagine a macross movie, OVA, series, whatever that follows an archeologist assigned to a military expedition. You follow the story through his eyes as the task force basically back tracks the expansion of the zentradi and supervision army back to the homeworld of the protoculture. All the while they find all kinds of artifacts, derelicts, etc... maybe even the APHOS and the descendants of Shin and Sara. This would allow for many one shot episodes and a lot of exposition and looking back at the history of macross, previous series as well as explaining many of the unanswered questions. Of course there would be valks and combat with rogue zents, SA, melts, and maybe even new enemies, but for the most part the focus would not be on the combat but on the discovery. After that, after all those major questions are answered, then you could go off and do the side stories or the reanimations, etc... just my $.02
  19. Very nice, can you post a pick with the VF-1 1:48 to show scale?
  20. Those redesigns are lame
  21. Check this out, pinpoint barrier anyone? Trophy Shield
  22. ZD while tech may change the laws of physics do not, if you want to slow a ship down you have two options, either turn around and burn the engines, or have retroes. I think that is what Phyrox meant.
  23. I wouldn't say nobody Phyrox, I design with realism in mind, especially when it comes to engines and manuevering.
  24. Yeah but if we sell it to the Isrealis it might actually earn some A-A kills, most A-A kills made by US Airframes have been made by Isreali Pilots.
  25. ZD you will find that no matter what you do, no matter how original your design people will find something to compare it to, even if it has only the most passing or resemblance. I myself have been guilty of that too, when B5 first came out I rejected it as being a DS9/Star Wars rip off. Heck I thought that the Starfury looked like an X-Wing, the Narn fighter, an A-Wing, etc... I got over that though and realized that they had vastly different designs and no real design commonality. I have also gotten frustrated as all get out when people say my own designs look too much like other designs, despite their originality, so don't let it get you down. Heck it is a nice design, and has only a very passing resemblance in silohette and general layout to what the others have said, and is definitely not a copy.
