Official Transformers Super Thread 3

I'm not judging your sense of taste, but often in artistic endeavours, less is more. The suggestion of great violence if quite often more dramatic than outright violence. eg, somebody dying with little blood is of more emotional effect (especially if its a good guy) than having blood splattered all over them and leaking out of their body; or having somebody executed off camera based on the reaction of the other characters rather than seeing their brainpan emptied from their head. Also, rampant violence has the stigma of being low-brow. Transformers media won't (and never will be) high art, but violence for the sake of violence and 'being cool' to sate the bloodthirst of a minority of viewers will do nothing but damage the image and reputation of Transformers as a relatively well-known franchise. Its also in poor taste. The movie will have violence (of the robot kind) in it, but I doubt it will have the serious violence you may be after. It just doesn't suit the license, to be honest. (Oh, due to the nature of comic books and their relatively small circulation, readership and demographic, they can afford to have more violence. Plus, on the big screen Wolverine as a hero would be EXTREMELY unsympathetic, if not outright a source of disgust if he was as violent in the movie as he was in the comics.) 413400 Yanno, LOTR's were all PG 13, and I found no problem with the dramatic impact of each of those three movies. The need for R rated content to enhance drama is BS. -
Less focus on secondary gimmicks, more focus on the primary gimmick, in other words, the transformation.

I hope he doesn't fart.... The last R-rated movie I saw would've been a lot better as a PG-13. They injected profanity in as many random lines of dialog as they could for the sake of getting an R, and it made for some comically bad lines. 413069 I'm moderatly curious what movie this was. 413098 Was called "Inside Man". About a bank robbery. Neat movie. And I guess the lines weren't really bad as much as they were blatantly out of place. 413130 I saw that movie, I didn't think it was this bad. I was thinking this was some cheap horror flick where people cuss every 4 seconds to cover for the lack of worthwhile dialogue. -

Most Wanted Unproduced Macross Toy By Yamato
GobotFool replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
I think most of us have ambigious feelings, at best, regarding macross 2, but alot of us love the VF-2 regardless of how bad macross 2 was. I've actually never seen Macross 2, but I have always loved how the VF-2 looked. Not that it matters. I voted destroids. -

Yeah, thats a good idea, I was sweating beads trying to get those out, chanting don't break, don't break to the toy gods. Well Poo... The damn parts holding the chest to the body fell off... fortunantly these were just glued on and it looked like yamato used cheap glue, still, this is a section that demands screws. What is up with toy companies using glue for joints these days? The VF-01 glued way to many parts togeather, but that just made it impossible to dissassemble and add that little needed nail polish to certain parts to tighten up the joints. Here it really effects how well this toy holds togeather.- 1057 replies

Most Wanted Unproduced Macross Toy By Yamato

I voted for none because destroids were not on that list. -
I just saw it, I agree Routh's clark was kind of weak, though that may have been because the writers barely did anything with superman's alter ego. All in all I thought it was a well made movie, however, I didn't leave feeling I had just watched the greatest superhero movie ever made, which I wasn't expecting. Minor Spoilers... Oddly, I was sort of hoping superman would fail to save someone during the scene when metropolis was being ravaged by the massive fault line created by lex's crystal land project. Not because I wanted him to go through an angsty whiny, oooh if only I had been there routine, but mostly I really wanted him to have something to be really really angry at Lex about. That said I thought Spacey was really good as Lex. Some reviews complained that Spacey seemed bored, but honestly, that IMO part of Lex's characterization, that a man as smart as him would obviously be bored when surrounded by people of normal intelligence and get anxious, and finally think up some scheme, not even because of the money, or power, but because it simply amused him to do so.

you really should demand they stress test the part or something to make sure it doesn't have the same molding flaws.- 1057 replies

wow... it really looks like they are going for that hulking monster look. -
My whole toy collection actually. Thankfully insurance is willing to cover a good chunk of it. 411750 Nice! Did you have them insured as collectibles? Or are they just going to give you retail value? 411753 Full replacement value. 411770 oooooooooh, nice! 411771 Yeah, I'm pretty happy about it. It was really sad looking at my melted low viz.
-
Four villins strikes me as over doing it. I hope they can manage to juggle it all.

It seems yamato keeps on pumping out the VF-1s in 2nd and 3rd releases, if they do another run of all the previous VF-1's think yamato will issue them with all the major markings tampo printed on? I'm mostly wondering because I need to replace my VF-1 collection that was destroyed in a fire. But with their habit of sometimes reissuing their products with improvements and the VF-0 being all marked up, I was wondering, should I exercise patience and wait before I replace my VF's?
-
No, at the end of the series Shin gets a regular singleseater VF-0A
-
Maybe because in terms of when it shows up in the show cronology the CF shows up 1st? With the total lack of being able to crawl into a yamato exec's head and ask him the logic of why, that would be my best guess.

While I'd still argue the VF-1s 1/48 is far from an inferior product, I certainly don't blame you with the luck you've had from Yamato. Currently I have had 15 yamato products of varying quality in terms of perceived durability Scopedog. Yes, all plastic, but I feel I could beat a small horse to death with it. I find it to be very sturdy. I also have it's pilot figure. Very nice action figure if you can over look his exagerrated man boobs. VF-1S, VF-1A, VF-1A LowViz, VF-1J. I've never had a single durability problem. I have had minor sloppy paint apps and tampo problems. but thats about it, and all my sellers were 100% willing to make an exchange. VF-0s. I got it, looked like one of the tail spikes was broken in transit. Got a replacement, No problems, joints are a tad loose but nothing that really detracts from ability to play with it or display. Konig Monster. Only Looks good in two mods, strange placement for some diecast parts, other than that I had no problems YF-19 version 2. Crappy sculpt, but still solid VF-19a see above YF-21, sculpt kinda sucks but it was a solid toy Escaflowne. Bad Sculpt, bad engineering, still construction was solid. YF-19 version 1 Total crap, broke everywhere VF-11 non FP version.... Nice sculpt, moment I took it from the box the hip broke. Worst yamato product ever made.- 1057 replies

too small IMO, that makes them about the size of the conversion kit.
