That is my general sentiment. Save a few really awesome figures, I'm getting rid of most of my small figures in favor of 1/6. They just flat out look better.

I actually wonder if gundam fans in Japan compain as much about redesigns as we do. Though lets remember, there are a billion version of every gundam, so even if you don't like Katoki's revision you can still probably easily nab a rendition you like as there are billions of different gundam toys and models damn you bandai, stop it with the gundam already... diversifiy.... That said, the very fact we are all having a heated discussion over the position of the tailfin rudders makes us all fanboys to one degree or another

Just not medicoms right now, exccept maybe there Rocketeer figure. I'm mostly chasing Hot Toys and Sideshow's stuff.

I'm more toy than character, still, the revision of sticking the fins on the sides just strikes me as Kawamori feeling the need to put his mark on this design as it just seems like such an unnecissary move. What he did to the arms to enhance the jet, I'm totally cool with. I just don't like the liberties he took with the bot mode which seems just for the sake of kawamorizing a iconic design. That and I honestly hate parts that just seem to hang off. I don't mind vehicle parts that seem intergrated into the bot mode somehow, but a part that seems to just be there because they couldn't think what the hell to do with it bugs me. 410581[/snapback] how does that work with having fins and rudder hanging off the back of his legs? 410590[/snapback] I don't know if this makes any sense, but the idea of the that whole long bulbus section, currently hanging off the waist being intergrated back as part of the length of the leg doesn't bother me nearly as much. Also I think I need to specify its not the rudders hanging off that bother me, its the two very long peices of plastic at the waist (David what is the techincal aeronautical term for these parts?) which at the end of happen to be rudders that bother me.

Wow, I forgot how beefy the 19 is actully supposed to be. though I guess you can't have a nice sleak jet and a beefy battroid at the same time. I'll survive. From the looks of these CAD drawings it still looks 100x better than the 1/72. Please don't quote large pics, especially when the thread is already gigantic and full of pics.

looking at pictures of it next to the Scopdog, I really do wish they just made it in 1/12 scale. That probably would have allowed for a better rider figure. but he's about the same size as a microman? I may have to try and customize a microman to look like a lil shogo.

okay, now exactly what part is so breakable on the bar? I just need to confirm so I can have my seller check it out. Does this break occur at just the lightest strain so it happens say 1st or 2nd time transforming?

Still that model and D stance show that awesome looking perfect transformation YF-21s are possible

The way I see it, the fins on the legs are more cannon, as this is how it was with the original toy, even if it wasn't that way in the animation. The fins on the legs are an established part of SS's look in one form or another. The fins on the hip is a complete and total revision of SS's design, either way you look at it, if your trying to be accurate to the show, or the original toy design, it just flat out is not there. I can accept the fins on the sides of the legs as say, a necissary reality that you can't just wish them away unless your willing to make parts detachable, I have a harder time accepting them as some sort of samuriesqe side armor as it really clashes with my mental image of SS. That said, it doesn't ruin the toy for me, I just find it a bizarre and unneeded revision. Everything else, what he did with the arms, the sleaker legs, is cool, and I'm almost certain those wedges at the top of his shoulder, that are there to make a sleaker jet mode will probably fold down.

Graham, just curious, can you at least tell us if there is a real proto in existence?

So what is the consensus on the bars? Inherent design flaw or a random molding flaw?

It's still an awsome looking toy. and actually, the hip kibble doesn't bother me nearly as much as the null rays not being perfect transformation. I'll admit if there is anyone thing I am a stickler about it is perfect transformation. I don't mind optional parts say like swapable hands, or covers being able to be added on to make it look a lil more show accurate, like with the 1/48. But when the core transformation mechanism is messed with well that does bum me out a little. Still. Overall I do still like MP SS, and I don't think he's ruined. They made his plane mode more awsome at the sacrifice of his bot mode. Kind of the reverse philosophy of the original MP prime.

The extra bits there don't really bother me, I consider it a small price to pay for a better fighter. I do hope the bits on the shoulders flip down and that the guns will still be perfect transformation instead of one having to remove them and replace them on the arms. I do agree though, Kawamori, make me a transformer of SS, not a a F-15 style valk.

I admit, I do like the thinner waist, and the larger arms make him more agressive, what I can't get over is the tail fins on the waist. That is just way to kibbly and I see no reason for it as I can't imagine it's needed to make this improved jet mode to work... Course the words "So they can be moved to the waist" makes me hope this may be just an optional configuration.

my only real question is when? How long did it take yamato to go from CAD to market for the VF-0s?

it also looks like he took away the parts that made him perfect variable in regards to his laser canons... I preferred the original proto more....
