  1. Dare I ask how close you are to getting the 3D printed part models ready?
  2. I've got the Arcadia, and it's a nice anime-accurate example of the YF-19, transformation is only mildly infuriating, and it looks all kinds of sexy in fighter mode. Compared to the Yamato one, it's got a lot of improvements (ankles aside...), and the Bandai while awesome isn't accurate to Macross Plus. Now if Bandai releases a YF-19, I will be on top of that. The only real frustrations I've had with my Arcadia 19 are the fast packs and the ankles.
  3. It's just on a split peg, comes off quite easily. I'll take some pictures later tonight when I'm back home.
  4. You're in the wrong place if you're talking about responsible spending, here we tempt and enable.
  5. It's been there for a while, might still be there as of Dec. Also it's the third one I've seen on sale over there for similar prices. Right now seems to be a good time to buy used, I guess everyone is selling to afford all the new stuff.
  6. I've been tempted to fix them. A drop of glue and some sanding does wonders, or if they stick out any they can actually be shaved down. The ones that are pitted inside suck since you need spare plastic of the same shade to putty.
  7. Let me enable you for a sec, someone's selling his Arcadia 19 for $265 on the for sale/trade subforum. Which is the lowest I think I've seen one since I snagged mine on sale from HLJ for ¥22,960.
  8. Honestly, it's more about placement of the gates than anything else. Aside from that just having a good sharp blade does the trick.
  9. All the test parts have finished production, now just waiting for them to ship out. I did not buy a full set, as I'm still checking what materials ought to be used. [edit] And right as I post this, I get shipping notification. Hopefully will have the parts in hand by early next week.
  10. Museum wax is your friend. Grab a container, put something on there that's fairly sturdy, and wax it to the surface it's sitting on.
  11. Freezing temperatures may render the plastic brittle. The difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between steel and ABS plastic over the ~75° F change is roughly 3mil (1/1000th inch) per inch, or 3mm per meter. It doesn't seem like a very good plan to have plastic contracting around metal while being rendered brittle due to temperature.
  12. Well, I put in a pre-order with HLJ. I can't say no to the Daedalus punch.
  13. Yup, I didn't get the 31J Kai, but that was the part that made it tempting. Why won't they just release a pack of random hardpoint ordinance?
  14. Swapping ought to be pretty easy, I've sized the peg hole to be the same as the one used on the DX Chogokin. As to a 1/72 version, I can try scaling it and then tweaking the dimensions to match the 1/72's pod. Since the 1/60 and 1/72 were both based on a proper CG model from the show it ought to be pretty close to start with. I've got a 1/72 on my shelf to check against. The biggest issues are going to be thickening up the plastic and fixing the hinge pin diameter so it's not scaled down. Now, the next one after this is trying to replicate the dual beam-cannon pod at the bottom of the page, that'll be a bit more interesting.
  15. The VF-1s haven't really disappointed me. Knew going in it's not a perfect transformation, just a smaller more affordable VF-1. The stand kinda sucks though when it comes to super-mode.
  16. Here ya go. https://imgur.com/a/f92wz
  17. Oh yes, though I really want to see a new valkyrie design in the HMR line. They haven't done a new transforming toy in a long time.
  18. So it'll match (more or less) the lineart from the tech manual. The missiles will launch vertically out of the pod rather than forwards, and the pod will be held above the wings running forwards/back rather than left-right like the YF-30. Top-left picture. As far as battroid, it'd probably be running left-right firing up, unless you wanted to have it up-down firing back behind the battroid.
  19. Still 1 in production and 1 in pre-production. I'll post an update when they show up.
  20. Well, if 1:3000 is 40cm, then 1:4000 ought to be 30cm.
  21. https://hlj.com/product/BANN17742 VF-2SS back up for pre-order at HLJ. Down again.
  22. Yeah, if you paint over with anything opaque it'll look normal.
  23. Careful about leaving it on the flightpose for too long, supposedly paint will stick to the rubber used on the ends of the rods if you leave it for a long time. Looks awesome!
  24. The real question is how much is reused, and how much is new parts. If it's just a recolored nose from the other 31s, then it'll be a painted over sensor looks like. If they're making a new part for the nose, it would be closer to the 31a in the tech manual.
