  1. Its always a good idea to advertise your Kawamori designed smartwatches with some flashy scifi fighter jets. I appreciate the authentic IR seeker growl too, as well as the detailed animation of the flap and nozzle check at the start.
  2. The benefits of over wing/fuselage podded engines is that it minimizes FOD and provides easier maintenance access. They're also less likely to damage crucial systems in the rare event of an engine blowing itself up. Who knows if Airbus will keep that engine configuration though, it is just a small scale demonstrator.
  3. https://twitter.com/Task_Force23/status/1225699657923227648 Some news from the recent Kotobuki x Ace Combat panel. An Ace Combat anime movie is an enticing possibility, especially if the CG is done by the Kotobuki staff.
  4. Yeah, its not really a downsized B-2, there's been some changes. Sketch analysis included done by Guy Norris and Steve Trimble.
  5. Best anime for me this season continues to be Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na. What a wonderful, enjoyable love letter to animation. The characters are all likeable (but not perfect, there are no Mary Sues here) and have a nice chemistry with each other, the future Japan setting is well realized, and there's some great sequences of animation going on, despite the undoubtedly low budget. By far the single anime I look forward to the most each week. The most recent episode dealt with some familiar discussions and debates that will be familiar to anyone who's tried to discuss mecha online, yet its obvious the creators are all fans of the genre. Hard to believe we've almost hit the halfway point. The OP is quite an earworm as well. I hope the manga gets licensed in the west.
  6. Ilya Kuvshinov's work is extremely generic, so I'm not surprised that his character designs for GiTS are similarly boring and give off "Dollar Store" knockoff vibes.
  7. Some new renders of the B-21 Raider were posted today.
  8. One of the disappointing things about Delta is that aside from the first episode, Hayate hardly does any Gerwalk dancing. I thought it would be his gimmick, he would be skilled at Gerwalk/Battroid due to his extensive work experience with civilian destroids.
  9. It also has that multi role equipment container built into the fuselage.
  10. There's nothing more fun than getting into the nitty gritty details of bipedal fighter jets.
  11. I miss the more grounded atmosphere of the first couple FnF movies. Granted, that particular cultural zeitgeist of early 2000's tuner culture is dead, but it made for a more unique experience than "superhero movie but with cars", which the recent ones have leaned towards.
  12. Netflix's decision to wait until months after the airing of the anime in Japan to release the show to the West is incredibly baffling, I just can't figure out the logic. By the time it comes out for the rest of us, everyone will have moved on to the next big thing.
  13. Yeah, never heard of Thomas Newman before, but I'll be sure to remember him, his work on 1917 fit the movie extremely well. This track stood out, as well as the one you posted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0CXa69GMp4
  14. I'm gonna assume (since I have a very limited understanding of aerodynamics) that the within wing engine nacelles probably incurred more drag than the more conventional engine-within-fuselage design of the VF-1 and VF-5000.
  15. Speaking of which, I believe the anime with the densest pop culture references-per-frame count has got to be Pani Poni Dash. As in, each frame had at least 10 references to movies, videogames, or even mid-2000's japanese internet memes.
  16. Completely agree, absolutely top notch war film. Touches on themes of duty, the senselessness of the Great War, extremely emotional, yet not overwrought. That one sequence in the destroyed french town at night is jawdropping beautiful, you'll know which one I'm talking about.
  17. Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! is pretty good from its first episode. Great soundtrack, some impressive animation, an appealing art style, and it features some of the iconic scenes from Future Boy Conan (the first anime I ever watched). The premise of three friends making their own anime is cool too, especially if they really dive in to the specifics of how anime is made.
  18. Anno will be fine. He owns Khara and the rights to the Eva characters, and Shin Godzilla did extremely well iirc. Plus, the reason he did this was to distance himself from the shambling corpse of current Gainax, and the current case with the Gainax director who got nabbed for having sex with an underage voice actress.
  19. He will be sorely missed, a master of form, function, and gouache.
  20. That game started its Kickstarter when I was 13 and now I'm 22. Talk about a protracted development.
  21. It's from the 90's, not the 80's, but I'd pay a lot of money for a bluray release of "Idol Defence Force Hummingbird". That was a fun OVA.
  22. The Japanese MoD are allocating 28 billion yen towards full scale development of the "Next Fighter" program, aka the long awaited F-3. Key technologies to be worked on include the ability to network with unmanned aircraft similar to Boeing's Loyal Wingmen, https://www.mod.go.jp/j/yosan/yosan_gaiyo/2020/yosan.pdf
  23. Well, the jet parts that were in the OG Top Gun were very memorable, which is why I guess so many people only remember that part and not Maverick's woman issues, or his trauma around losing his RIO.
